Why not just make the gab between episode 2 and 3 more? so they can reach the age they are suppose to be?

The clone wars only last 2 years? Thats not to long. WW2 was much longer then that. And that was just on one planet.

Why not make the clone wars 5-10 yrs.

    >> Episode III was always suppose to be 20 years prior to ANH (Source, Starlog and just about every interview from Lucas in the past) So you're saying that Anakin was suppose to be in his late 30s early 40s when Luke and Leia are born?<<

That's not what I'm saying, that's what Lucas was saying. ::)

Certain things, like Anakin and Obi-wan's ages, the timing of the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire were brought up closer to the events of the OT than what was originally planned.

I don't think there's much of a discrepancy, but if so it comes in a distant third behind: 1) Anakin aging 10 years between TPM and AOTC, while Padme ages 0, and 2) Obi-Wan aging, dying, and being an old Force ghost, and Anakin aging, dying, and being a young Force ghost.

Planned by who? If I recall, Lucas never said when the clone wars would take place. The 2nd edition of the "A Guide to the Star Wars Universe." has the following timeline which you are basing your argument on. Which came out in 1994, I lost my original from the 80s. :(

    60 BSW4 - Kenobi born
    55 BSW4 - Anakin born

Then sometime after 29 and between 18 BSW4 the prequels would take place, with episode III being the 18 BSW4.
It's Anakin's age according to the guide that is screwed up in relation to what the prequels show us. But then it was never really set in stone as to how old he was. Kenobi's age is off by 4 years between that timeline and the real one. The events of the clone wars was never really talked about by anyone before the prequels.

i think what ruins the age thing the most is the Padme anakin thing...in TPM Anakin is 9/10 and Padme is like in her mid to late teens. I guess when they get older...[next movie] it doesnt matter the age difference, there adults, but after watching AOTC then you go back and watch TPM it is sorta creep because that is where you really see the age difference.

    As for Obi......stress.

Let's not forget one important line of dialouge from ANH, spoken by Obi-Wan:

"A young Jedi named Darth Vader".

Anakin was meant to be portrayed young from day one.

    >>Planned by who? <<

    Lucas.

    >>If I recall, Lucas never said when the clone wars would take place. <<

He had provided an earlier rough timeframe to people, such as Zahn, to reference. He had LFL operate under the asusmption of a 30-50 year reign of the Empire, generally speaking. (this is why, by the OT, people act as if the Jedi and Force are myths, as people like Han weren't supposed to have been alive to know of them).

And the Guide to the SW Universe probably was working off the notes Lucas had at the time (Lucas mentions in the Annotated Screenplays the character ages as of ROTJ)
