Hey everyone, I want to get an Episode III Obi Wan costume for the opening of ep3 next year and I figured we can compile all our knowledge about this costume here.

The Costume itself seems to be similar in material to the one in ep2.

As for the lightsaber, we know that it is very close in design to the saber that Obi Wan uses in ep4. The only difference that (I assume) is there is the placement of a Covertec button/wheel and I think that like Anakin's the clamp may be diferent but I am not sure.

S_S edit: Edited to add an index compiled by gaiatha on page 7 of the thread - putting it here as a nice, easy to find anchor for those new to the thread. :)

yea the saber is a bit different - from the pics I have seen it appears to be just slightly different.

    -Smaller Diameter
-Neck is a bit longer I think
-Control Box is different - prob similar to the Anakin setup
    -Covertec instead of a d-ring
-Coloring I think is a bit different - the brass doesn't seem to have the real dark aged look which would make sense
-The transistors seem to be different also - I know at least 1 is brass colored

I will have to dig around a bit to see if I have any allowable pics to post up

I have heard from someone that the clamp has red bubbles and someplace else I read it looks like Anakin's. The neck I am a little unsure of as well becasue I have seen in some pics it looks copper and in others it looks like a dull brass

no bubbles - the same style board that Anakin has

I agree about the copper/brass look - the pics I have seen have actually had a two-tone look to it. Nice thing about the 2 metals is that they get darker as they age - so it would fit the style of saber we see in ANH

The costume is similar but not the same.

The inner tunic is tighter and dark brown and doesn;t seem to gather nearly as much at the wrists.

Outer tunic, to me, looks a bit longer and a couple shades darker/richer.

Pants are definatly darker, more a khaki colour as opposed to the white.

Boots are similar but not exact. Basically take away the top loops and make the spat flush.

Belts the same except I think I may have seen an Ep3 pouch too.

and as for the saber I think you guys have it covered :)

wrong - look at pics of both sabers, side by side and you will see the difference is as clear as day

Luke ROTJ = machined, easy top
Obi ROTS, ANH = Grenade Body

Different layout all together - lets not even go after the rest of the saber as they are 2 totally different animals

i know the differences, and i have everything essential to make a conversian at my house, i'm just saying how easy it would be, i saw the differences.

wow just read my above post i thought I said i was going to have to added a "grenade" type body.

    musta forgot...

nope - never mentioned a grenade body

anyone reading this - it is just not possible to convert a Luke ROTJ into any incarnation of the Obi ROTS/ANH saber.

Differences include, emitter end, wind vein, grenade stem, upper grip grenade body, clamp spacer, clamp or control box area, screws in the side of the clamp area, lower gear grip section between the clamp and pommel, pommel end being different, triangle ring being changed to d-ring (different size entirely) or hole filling in for the ROTS........and this just scratches the surface of what would need to be changed

In a nut shell - again Sal, one day you will actually listen to the guys who know what they are talking about, it cannot be done - of course the maturity thing is still not on your side so you won't listen. None of us are surprised by this because you know absolutely everything about absolutely nothing. So far on this board you have been all talk and no show, so here is a challenge - put up or shut up. I say it can't be done right, others will agree with me, prove us wrong.

it is made from pvc, it can be done.
you use something called filler, you make a new end cap replace the lower section with a smaller diameter to hold the grips, and replace the box, and upper grips with a grenade type thing, i know what i'm talking about after all i made the saber i would know.

PVC is no where close to accurate - again put up something relevent and accurate or stick to a hardware saber thread

    Back to the important details

1 - PVC is not rub and buff - it is plastic that really only has use as cheap plumbing pipe.

2 - Rub and Buff is actually a paint that, when applied right , can give the appearance of metal

3 - This thread has nothing to do with Jango's armor - and I hate to burst your little bubble but they used fiberglass for Jango's armor not PVC

Run along little boy and let the guys who know what they are talking about work on the real, accurate details relevent to this thread and this costume.

does anyone now how i can make a hardware version of obi wans ep III IV saber, doen't have to be exact just ahs to get the idea across... it also has to be a stunt blade...i was thinkng that if i use a 1/2 inch battle blade and used the adaptor as the thin part it would be best... any help?
