Discussion Observation about Rey?

Am I reading too much into this commercial from Duracell?

Notice the girl, who seems to be wearing an outfit very similar to Rey's, wielding a lightsaber. Now, I admit, I could be grasping at straws but there's something else out there that has me thinking:

The ends of Rey's staff look a lot like lightsaber hilts to me.

 

Actually, it reminded me more of those zappy staffs the Magna Guards carried in Ep. III

 

I'm not gonna look at the picture but if Rey is a Skywalker, I feel like she HAS to get a lightsaber at some point. So far it looks like only Finn does...

 

I'm just speculating, Tiger. But I was worried the title might offend some people. But I wanted to be sure people knew what the thread was about.

I'll leave it to the Mods' discretion. If it's too much, please edit it. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone.

See the thread "Finn's Role." That's a more appropriate way of titling a thread like this.

 

My wife is convinced that's what it is.
From how "alternative" Rebels and the toy line (and Kylo Ren) seem to want to make lightsabers, I wouldn't be surprised if it disassembled into a lightsaber. Or if she later turned it into one. I can tell they're saving some surprises for us (evidenced by the lack of any clear shots of Luke in any promotional material,) and she sure doesn't want to put that staff down. Like ever. I count two trailer shots of her without it in frame. Either it's important for some reason, or it's the galaxy's weirdest security blanket.

 

As far as the duracell commercial, that is a pretty cool BB8 snowman.

As far as the topic is concerned, if you see the latest IMAX movie poster, Rey does have the same profile/silhoutte of other characters in the universe.

I have kinda been wondering of late if we will eventually (read: not necessarily in TFA) see Rey with a double bladed lightsaber, considering how partial to and (seemingly) proficient she is with her staff thing that she has.

Man, I'd love to see that! Rey, going nuts with a blue, or even green double bladed lightsaber!!

Heck, just to see one, regardless of WHO is using it!

 

I just saw TV-Spot 5 the one focusing on Finn.

And it gives some more spoilers related to LS and other weapons...

 

I was reading a spoiler free character profiles before, and it makes one interesting point about Rey, we don't know what her last name is.

 

Wow... somehow I missed this thread title and this tag. Sorry about that. Hopefully this new title will be better, if it's not already too late.

 

Be VERY careful googling that. I know what her last name is, and I know that none of you want me to say.

 

I have my suspicion that

she's probably Rey Solo

but it's rather interesting they've chosen to hide Finn's last name too

 

I just wanted to point out that none of us actually know what Rey's last name is yet.

...well, um, although there is some speculation on Rey's origins, it is entirely possible that her last name doesn't reflect her true background. So the speculation might be true, even if the last name is something else.

 

Seriously, guys... her last name is NOT known yet. Enough of this.

 

So it's not Rey Gunn and Finn Soop?

 

I heard they were Rey Nbow and Finn Ish. Or possibly Finn Land; the writers hadn't nailed it down yet.

 

I know - I'm just warning people that the spoiler, in rumor format, is out there - and seemed pretty credible to me. (I can't say how without flat-out saying the spoiler.) It's probably the biggest part of the movie that I "know," and I really hope you can all avoid it for the next 24 days.

FINN=Short for Finnish, or maybe just finished... Hmmmm
Or is it a reference to Nemo's tank name (Shark-Finn)

One can only guess..
