Why are we acting like the writer that made the siblings statement is THE writer and not a part of a writers room that includes major fans (not least of all the showrunner)? Why are we acting like this writer is refusing to do any homework, when the anecdote is about her doing the homework?

I for one think Star Wars fans get too excited about seeing things they know in Star Wars. "They brought back MAX REBO! This is the greatest TV episode of anything EVER!" (NOTE: I never said they were WRONG to think this). If this show has a room full of writers losing their minds with excitement because they figured out how to tie in Beldorian the Hutt, I'd feel better if there was someone in the room who has never heard of him that can say "but the story is no good."

I expect the Jedi Order as a whole will play a major role in the show, but I expect we will see most events that involve them from the perspective of new (jedi) characters. The Order is more than just Yoda, there are about 10,000 Jedi at any one time, so he could simply pop up in council meetings. This means he could have a large impact without much screen time.

Agreed. If you read interviews with either JJ Abrams or Rian Johnson it’s clear that both are massive Star Wars fans. Nevertheless, having all three movies directed by long time fans wasn’t enough to stop the ST being divisive within the fandom, regardless of what you or I may think of those films personally.

The last comma was after “that could work too.” What do you disagree with after the comma?

Disney will finally get around to merging the Star Wars and Alien franchises.

Codenames for some characters, and maybe a small plotline for The Acolyte.

You're right, the sky is not falling. It doesn't need to be a huge issue. No one here is saying it means the show is doomed.

On the other hand, when you tell me a professional Hollywood screenwriter has never seen the original Star Wars movies, I have to wonder how that's even possible. I get that lots of people don't care about Star Wars. But a professional screenwriter? This person must be in their twenties, at least. I would think that if you've become a professional screenwriter and you've never seen the OT, you went out of your way not to see the OT. You chose not to see it. This writer must be pretty damn good.

I don't like that potential plot leak......sounds like something out of the Old Republic. Doesn't jive well with a story set only 100 years before TPM.

    Regarding the leaks -
the part about the Jedi being unfair (but not too much) to the main character sounds to be legit.

This sounds really awesome....and it ties into another major overall plot idea that isn't explored in the PT or the OT, but is still shown in the forms of Sidious and Maul, Sidious and Dooku and then in Sidious and Vader - that being the "Rule of Two". The winner of The Acolyte program then becomes the Sith apprentice.

Here is the connective tissue to the greater overall story. This connects into the Skywalker Saga, as well as into Plagueis and the Sith that have come before. The Acolyte plot may not be the major "cheating death" narrative, but it's still another major "Sith" narrative.

And it also connects into the Jedi rules and dogma too - with this part of the plot where the Jedi prevent this girl from seeing her sister. Because once you commit to the "Jedi way", you have to fore-go everything; including your family.

No wonder "problems" like Anakin are created with the Jedi's way of doing things.

This Acolyte show sounds really great. I hope for a really deep dive into Sith lore.

What would be an interesting take: Aura’s final lesson is to become Sith. She beats back the other acolytes and her mission brings her face to face with her sister. Her sister, having been with the Jedi for so long and indoctrinated in their ways, cannot he swayed. Aura battles her sister and wins. Darth Paul’s discovered to be just an apprentice.
The Sith master is impressed by both Aura’s resolve and her skill. She becomes his apprentice. Her anger and hate for the Jedi, how it led her sister to this path, convinces her to stay and she becomes a full-fledged Sith. Season 2 is about her tutelage under her master and the Grand Plan: political stakes, forging underworld alliances, Jedi investigation, etc.

What will probably happen: Aura and sister team up. Kill Darth Paul, and they hug in the end. Aura redeems herself. And I go back to playing the Sith storyline in SWTOR and reading Bane and Plagueis novels for the hundredth time.

Yeah I am imagining a redemption of sorts. The more the merrier so we can safely understand that when Yoda said that once you start down the dark path forever will it dominate your destiny, it was not general. He literally meant "you" as Luke. Other people can find their way back.

    Hope that
Darth Paul will continue the EU Rule of Two pre-Sidious Sith's tradition of being a businessman, preferably a galaxy-level one.

Aura will kill her sister after bring made a sith apprentice to prove she is above familiar attachment. She kills Darth Paul who was merely a new apprentice. And she becomes the apprentice to the most powerfull sith lord of all time Darth plagueis. The full season will lead to her becoming a sith apprentice, and the true sith master will not be revealed until end of the season.
