What about a Baby Plagueis meets Baby (real) Yoda show?

 

I would love a real baby Yoda 900 years before ROTJ. And we learn why Yoda is so different from rest of his species.

 

A show like this could even support a Baby Darth Vader -- with the cutest breathing support system in the galaxy!

 

It does seem rather just random that a Sith Lord is looking for an apprentice via try-outs. Not entirely unlikely of course but as someone said it definitely has Old Republic vibes which I’m very interested in seeing.

What do you guys think these missions will be that the acolytes will have to undergo? Obtain Sith holocrons from haunted danger-ridden tombs? Find some relic?

The description of the Jedi taking kids in return for protecting the village initially seemed a little ooc, so I reckon this may be a character pov thing, and it won’t play quite like that in actuality.
Also they mention that a potential casting call for ‘Miri’ (Aura’s sister) was for a child between 8 and 10, which sounds quite old for a Jedi recruit, this may be inaccurate.

I love the idea of a Sith holding a Hunger-Games style contest to find a worthy apprentice. Given everything else we know about the Sith it sounds on point as heck. I also love the idea that they play pretty fast and lose with the whole ‘rule of two’ thing.

Hope the Sith Lord’s name really is Darth Paul. Do it Lucasfilm.

Also, I kind of hope he turns out to be the Sith Master, not the apprentice. We could have a Bane-Zannah-Cognus situation. Where Aura ends up apprenticed to Darth Paul’s former apprentice.

The final test in this Sith Hunger-games contest could involve having to kill a Jedi, who turns out to be Aura’s long lost sister.
OR the final test involves her having to kill Penn, and she ends up killing her sister later on in the show.
Although the setup sounds like redemption-arc bait, I hope that isn’t the way they go here. It would be cool to have a villain protagonist who just doubles down and carries on being evil.

Also love the description of Sanshiro (Aura’s home world).

Overall sounds awesome if accurate.

 

Hope that (on later phase of training) there will be missions to eliminate Darth Paul's enemies in political and criminal circles (not on level of Maul dealing with the Black Sun, but still).

I could also see it as just being in the interpretation of the leaker or their source - like, I remember some otherwise pretty accurate leaks about Obi-Wan stated that Reva hated the jedi for taking her away from her birth family, and seeing Luke be happy with the Lars would remind her of said family and prompt her change, whereas in the actual show it was clear it was the lose of her jedi family that drew Reva. Heck, I remember a leak claiming there would even be a scene of Reva being dragged from a sibling similar to a recent swtor trailer.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the jedi were just helping out and found her sister while helping, and the leaker took the scant details they knew and spun into a more "evil baby snatching jedi" story.

But yeah, other than that sounds good. Especially if the acolyte competition is as much or more about outmaneuvering each other with schemes rather than just lightsaber fights.

 

If this show doesn’t rest on the question “who are Palpatine’s parents?” I’m out.

 

Indeed, which is why im a little worried about The Acolyte, if the rumors are true.

The Sith, especially in the golden age of the Republic/Jedi should focus heavily on secrecy/hiding from their old foes Creating basically a Sith version of the "Squid Games" is contrary to that.

I would love to see a show about wannabe sith fighting each other to become an apprentice to a Sith Lord, but keep that Old Republic, on Korriban, etc. Would make a lot more sense for the Sith back then and especially on their homeworld , to gather a group of force sensitive children to fight to the last child standing. While in High Republic, finding (kidnaping?) a group of force sensitive children would be more difficult and more prone to show up on the Jedi's radar.

Hopefully these "games" were not a common practice that Sith Lords under the Rule of Two did. Rare, perhaps The Acolyte is the first time a RoT sith tried it out.

 

If Plagueis the Wise Muun is in it, I guess his face might be made to look a little different, like the Grand Inquisitor?

 

If the leaks are true, nothing suggests the acolytes know that they are working for the Sith until the last of them outlives the others. Nor do they seem to be doing anything remotely public or especially visible. All it sounds like is a Sith Lord secretly giving a number of potentials a similar mission, like bounty hunters, and then having them constantly ween one another out with each successive mission.

It could be a good opportunity to see more of the galaxy. Though I’m still a little concerned about how that could be visually executed considering the budgetary constraints the Obi-Wan show had (and it showed). But I’m hopeful that not only does this show get a decent budget for its ambitions, but also that different SW shows end up looking and feeling quite different from one another. Not dramatically, but I’d rather there isn’t a “SW show look,” although at this point I think that might just be a limitation we’ll have to accept.

Finally, if we do see Plagueis at some point, I hope they base him more on the Neimoidian art Lucas gave the Publishing group way back when rather than Luceno’s Muun. He doesn’t have to be Neimoidian, but I’d rather any story he gets be closer to whatever Lucas envisioned rather than what the EU already did.

 

If there’s a Darth Paul, he might easily be accompanied by Darth’s John, George and Ringo. I’m not convinced their music would be songs of love, though. All You Need is Hate.

Right. Sauron18 pointed out that the acolytes might not be aware they’re undergoing these trials to become Sith. They can very well be going through the trials without knowledge of the bigger picture.

Now the leaker did say there was concept art of

a black-robed woman with a red lightsaber. So perhaps at some point Aura gets a lightsaber. Hopefully that’s further down the line, and not every acolyte has one.

This is pure speculation and conjecture, but I wondered if that leaker actually saw concept art for The Acolyte without realising.
It’s a very long shot I know. But still we’ve been hearing rumours about a show created by Headland, and set before TPM for a while now. Both Acolyte and Kenobi were announced alongside each other at D23 in late 2019, so it’s possible they were in pre-production at the same time too.
Perhaps this leaker saw concept art of a child being taken from their family by the Jedi and mistakenly thought it was Reva, when it was actually Aura’s sister.

In any case the concept of a protagonist who joins the Sith in order to ‘rescue’ a sibling from the Jedi does sound like the kind of darkly comedic twist you’d expect from Leslye Headland.

While it’s unlikely that Aura will be ‘the’ Sith Lord for a while, it would be neat if we saw her overthrow her master, and claim the top spot at some point before the show ends. Maybe in a later season.

Hopefully Darth Paul looks like a Beatle.

 

Yaddle speak has different speaking partern from Yoda in both High republic book and lego game. And Yoda in GL mind spoke as he did as he is very old and maybe different times.

 

I really hope they don't give Yaddle the exaggerated Yoda speak Yoda got in the PT. In the OT, he speaks "backwards" a few times, namely when he's playing the role of funny little creature to fool Luke, when he's explaining some force stuff, and a bit on his death bed. Otherwise, his speech patterns are much more normal than they are in the PT, with a few peculiarities.

 

In new canon she has appeared in, Yaddle speaks normal like any other characters who speaks basic. Only few sentences might be backwards.

 

I’d love to see that happen. The leaker said they have more info they’re sharing tomorrow, but was silent on the details.

Possible but...I dunno, seems kind of unlikely. Everything else was specifically Obi-Wan....but again, hard to know with such things.

That could be a very fitting climax for the story. After all, the sith grand plan can't go off yet and can't be revealed either, so it seems like the most logical endpoint of the story...well, unless the show goes on really long so she can have her own apprentice....

My first thought would be that such a thing seems like a given...but then again, all these years and we still don't have any lightsabers being made in live action.
