TV Discussion Official Dave Filoni Appreciation Thread

That was the intention that he had changed thanks to the Tuskens, but I thought the change was too sudden and big. They should have shown more of the old Boba before changing him.

I have only seen the first three or four episodes of Andor so far, and while I'm not over the moon about it like I was with Mandalorian, the show shows great promise. Gilroy I think is fantastic and he has a good grasp on his take on Star Wars. He did a great interview where he said that he treated the Star Wars universe as totally real when making Andor, and that shows. The show embraces both the PT and OT eras and blends them seamlessly, which I really like. I will catch up with the later episodes once the season is finished.

How old was Dave when he got hired by Lucasfilm. And that was 18 years ago almost.

 

I think he was in his mid 30 to late 30's.

 

Yeah he is about 50 now so however old he would have been when they started work on TCW. Probably early 30's.

Filoni is the gift that keeps on giving.

• Plans a story for years before actually making it happen.
• Understands what the George Lucas Star Wars is about to the maximum.
• Uses the Expanded Universe as an influence and a source.
• Makes the GFFA feel larger, richer, more interesting.

 

Filoni is man to tie all eras together. I think star wars is lucky to have him. Its his and GL stories that cut deep within me.

And beyond, even the ST era.

 

Need to have a solid background to weave great stories.
The ST era doesn't really have that, it's better to just leave it alone.
Filoni has said on multiple occasions that the GFFA is so big, that you can have parallel storylines running at the same time, without the characters necessarily ever meeting each other, or playing a part in other storylines. For the Mandoverse as it is now, and especially for Ahsoka, there is absolutely no need to ruin anything by messing with the "Skywalker Saga" (what a stupid name...).

 

You can tell many great stories in what ever era. Maybe not everyone likes the tie to ST. And if not just do post TROS, eith familiar characters. His characters would still be alive during the ST.

 

Not sure why this conversation is happening but ok. I don't give a **** about the ST honestly.
I've put it behind me, and it's just completely off topic and unnecessary to bring it up in a Filoni appreciation topic.

 

Im just thinking of Filoni telling his stories with his characters from PT era to OT and to ST era and beyond. Like an older Omega or Ezra who were birn or child during PT and elder during ST and beyond.

Thats now been proven to be false.

 

"Proven" is a strong word.
Not that it matters. Filoni has directed dozens of more powerful scenes anyway.

 

There are other creators who makes these things not all are Filoni.

 

then use those scenes to credit Filoni

don't spread false stories that invent things that didn't actually happen

@Bor Mullet I think that perhaps now is a good time to give you an official welcome to this thread.

Not that you were not a fan of Dave's work already (I know you like TCW and his Mando episodes), but something tells me that with Ahsoka he has won you over just a little bit more. Also, it was a good opportunity for me to bring this thread back to life, as I predict (and hope!) that we will be needing it in the weeks to come.

Glad to become a more fervent member of the fan club!

 

If it weren't for Fillioni I doubt I would have jumped back into SW. I wasn't much of a fan of the PT or ST. The Mandalorian drew me back, but it was CW and Rebels that engaged me to tread once again in a GFFA. His love of SW and his characters revived the entire universe of entertainment.
