Speculation OFFICIAL Episode VII/Spin-Off Casting Rumors and Speculation Thread

I see some people on other forums speculate that the 70-year old dude must be Luke BUT lets think for a second. Why would they put a casting call for a character already cast *assumingly by Hamill* so its probably somebody else..or maybe they have decided to recast Luke. Can you imagine the madness that would ensue here if that happened? I sure dont want to. I'm just assuming that 70 year old dude is either A) a villain or B)A jedi master or something. IDK

 

It is interesting that somewhere in this list we have the main character of the ST and it's anyone's guess at this point which one it is. It's also exciting that we're getting a first glimpse at some of their character traits. The independent female with a good sense of humor sounds like a good starting point for the main character to me.

Yeah, it makes no sense that they would include Luke when it's obvious that Mark Hamill and the others are coming back. He really sounds like a politician to me but one who might be at odds with the heroes.

 

The 70 year old could very easily be a rebel or imperial officer that survived the war and became a prominent new figure after being promoted or taking command of whatever is left (if he's a bad guy with a british accent).

 

Yeah, he could really be any guy... who's about 70... and who isn't Luke.

 

I hear those casting lists are confirmed as real *deadline confirmed it so that pretty much means its real*. Just in case there was any doubt....
EDIT: Apparantly we already knew. WHY ARENT WE ALL GOING CRAZY SPECULATING?!?! I guess we're just waiting for the "actor rumors"

 

Because it seems the main character(s) will be in their mid to late twenties, it can also be assumed that Episode VII will take place about 20-30 years after ROTJ!

My guesses... I could only think of three:

A young man aged between 20 and 25, witty and smart, fit but not classically handsome. Luke's son
Man in late twenties, also fit, but this one is handsome and confident. Han & Leia's son
Late teenage girl, independent, good sense of humour, also… physically fit. Han & Leia's daughter
Second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and physically fit. ???
Man in his forties, obviously physically fit, this one is a military type. ???
A man of around thirty or so, this one is an intellectual type. ???
Finally, a guy aged around seventy, strong opinions and tough. ???

 

I am a little skeptical about this casting call.

 

It's been confirmed by Deadline so it seems legit to me.

 

Deadline is as legit as it comes. There is like a 99% chance its real now.

A young man aged between 20 and 25, witty and smart, fit but not classically handsome. Ben Skywalker / Luke's kid
Man in late twenties, also fit, but this one is handsome and confident. Jacen
Late teenage girl, independent, good sense of humour, also… physically fit. Jaina / or whatever they might name the kids, hopefully they'll stick with their real names
Second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and physically fit. Friend of Jaina, perhaps love interest to Jacen
Man in his forties, obviously physically fit, this one is a military type. Jagged Fel? or someone similar; perhaps a villain?
A man of around thirty or so, this one is an intellectual type. good guy? bad guy? lol
Finally, a guy aged around seventy, strong opinions and tough. War veteran? Political leader? bad guy?


Then you have, with almost all certainty: R2-D2 and C-3PO. And then, in all likelihood, roles of some form for Harrison Ford, Carrier Fisher, and Mark Hamil. Maybe Billy Dee Williams.

 

My Guesses:

A young man aged between 20 and 25, witty and smart, fit but not classically handsome. Luke's Son
Man in late twenties, also fit, but this one is handsome and confident. Han and Leia' son
Late teenage girl, independent, good sense of humour, also… physically fit. Luke's Daughter (twin)
Second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and physically fit. Luke's Daughter (twin)
Man in his forties, obviously physically fit, this one is a military type.
A man of around thirty or so, this one is an intellectual type.
Finally, a guy aged around seventy, strong opinions and tough. Bad Guy (hoping for John Noble)

 

I'm hoping Luke has twins but I would be surprised if they were both the same gender.

 

Okay so here is my guess:

A young man aged between 20 and 25, witty and smart, fit but not classically handsome. I would say Han and Leia's son.
Man in late twenties, also fit, but this one is handsome and confident. I think this one will be the non-related member of the new big 3. I'm guessing he'll have some sort of royal title.
Late teenage girl, independent, good sense of humour, also… physically fit. I would guess this is our main character. The daughter of Han and Leia.
Second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and physically fit. I have no idea.
Man in his forties, obviously physically fit, this one is a military type. Secondary villain.
A man of around thirty or so, this one is an intellectual type. I'm going to guess this character is aligned with the villain in someway.
Finally, a guy aged around seventy, strong opinions and tough. A politician who is an opponent of Han and Leia.

 

Or a sleeveless black "combat" catsuit.

 

I'll bring up Rutget Hauer again as a suggestion. But also Maximilian Schell to add some weight to the cast. he could play some elder dimplomat trying to hold on to the remnants of the Republic (if it was restored to such after the fall of the empire) and also, Jurgen Prochnow. These are all fine mature actors.

 

I can't stand her, seriously, this is star wars. she's not right for this.

 

Ok great...as others have mentioned Deadline has confirmed. I believe it now.

The military type intrigues me. The Imperials are supposedly gone but the rebels were always more of a swashbuckling, rag-tag band. Granted, they had commanders and there was a hierarchy but none of them reminded me of this guy...
