Boo_Yeah! Quiz night was very good and quiet successfull :) Everyone had aball, I won myself a bottle of scotch so I was stoked. We start filming in just SIX days and that's going to be awsome.
remember if anyone wants to be an extra on the 2nd of October in the film just drop either myself, Saintheart, Kartanym or F_A a PM or post in this thread. DIRTY!

    Wish us luck!

    you'd better not! :p

I'm looking forward to it, always have been. It'll be good to see all the hard work pay off with some fantastic sets by Ron (I'm not worthy!), some great acting by the main cast and *cross the fingers* some kick a$$ fight scenes.

T minus one day and counting.

Production meeting went really well last night. If I may abuse slightly a quote from Armageddon in honour of Ron:

"You're NASA, for chrissake! You put a man on the moon! You're a genius! You're the guy who's blowing ***** up! I'll bet you've got a team of men just sitting around right now just blowing **** up, and someone around backing them up as well!"

Needless to say I was AWESTRUCK by the set construction. And I even get to do greenscreen shots that I'd originally planned to scrap!

You must always have faith, Padawan. The ways of id_10t_ERROR are mysteries, but they always work and turn out brilliantly. :D

But green screen we have, and green screen we will use. And we begin filming at sparrow fart tomorrow morning. Are we excited? Or scared?

I think it went really well today. We got some damn nice shots due to Kaustin's fancy camera work, not too many blown takes, lots of decent footage and some damn nice locations.

    One down, ten to go.

A good start by all (even though I kinda buggered up at the start) ... anyway, a big day tomorrow, though thankfully not such an early beginning.

Don't know if there's much I can help with on short notice, but I may be able to turn up this week and provide moral support while I'm in Perth. :)

Stinky, that was your brother's on fault. He decided to take a "shortcut" and jump off a wall down to where we were filming instead of taking the stairs like a normal person would! :p

Soneil, there are days that we need help, but I can't remember when they are at the moment. Way too tired. Will check with people and get back to you tomorrow.

Day two saw SOE suffering from hayfever in the morning and heat exhaustion in the afternoon. Saintheart suffered severe sunburn to his head. The rest of us are just too damn tired. We got some decent footage still, more funky camerawork by Kaustin. Interesting costuming by iD10t. Stuff. I'm tired.

    Two down, nine to go.

Yeah, another good day all round. Some great acting by Saint, Sam and SOE; Great camera angles by Kaustin; more to come tomorrow, but each day brings some great results. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll sleep all this off :p

    Day Three...

It's just after 1am and we've pretty much just finished filming and packing up and stuff. We did the green screens today, along with the cockpit and blowing stuff up. Lots of fun. But some of us had been at it since about 8am. Very long day. But I'm not tired yet. And we haven't watched the dailies yet, so I can't really comment on how things looked through the camera. But where I was seated, things looked great. And the pyrotechnics are fantastic.

Oh, and soneil (and anyone else if you are interested) we would greatly appreciate a hand on the 6th because there is a lot of equipment and stuff to carry around. If you want more details, please drop me a PM and I'll give them to you.

EDIT: Three down, eight to go.
EDIT: I made a mistake with the above, we actually need extra hands on the 6th, not the 10th.

Midday it is, to tired last night for anything.

5 sets bunked in and bunked out yesterday. I think there was some acting but I was to busy to watch. Busier than a one legged sandperson in a bantha kicking competition

Help on the 10th might go down well too as there is a lot of gear to carry, or at least someone to watch the cars and stuff so we dont have to unpack and pack up, then unpack and then pack up, then unpack and then pack up again then unpack and then pack up again again......etc

Where & when? I'm busy during the day tomorrow (6th) but later on in the day I ight be able to get there. Pity it wasn't Thursday or Friday. I've got a lot more free time on those days.

Edit: Shoulda read the thread. Won't be free in the middle of the day :(

It's too late now to give you info to help out today, you probably won't get it in time. But for anyone who wants to help out, we need help on the 10th. We will be filming at the 10th Light Horse Heritage Trail and have a lot of gear to carry, and a lot of people to organize. We need to be on site at 9am. More details can be found in the Calendar section of the website in my sig. Must go. Got filming to do.

Day four was another long one, mainly because of the walking involved. And trying to get candles lit in the middle of a wind tunnel is just ridiculous. We may have tomorrow off, but we are waiting to see if we have permission to film at a location again.

    Four down, seven to go.

    *puff pant puff puff*

What a week it's been so far! I honestly haven't had as much fun in my life. Day one was damn good, and a nice, gentle introduction to filming once again...though I don't know if I'm ever going to get up at 5:30 a.m. again. Day two...well, let's just say we got a fair bit of useful material, but there's still a lot of things to do. Not the least of which is peeling my head clean of dead skin from sunburn again. Day "three" was really scouting up in Lancelin...and more on that later...and the next day of shooting, being most of the interior and special effects shots, was just magnificent.

But I was extremely pleased with the way today's shooting turned out. The weather gods it seemed were smiling on us; the rain backed off right as we were finishing the cave shots so we were able to get the rest of it done. I had picked Kartanym up with a sinking feeling as we drove towards John Forrest national park, watching heavy cloud rolling overhead...but by midmorning the rain was pretty much gone, with only one or two blown takes by reason of the weather. May I put in right here and now a vote of awestruck admiration for our cast and crew, who are enduring long days and heavy treks to get the shots we're looking for.

A word about the XL-1: it's a temperamental animal. I think Darth_Soup and Kaustin deserve to go in the credits as Camera Wranglers on this production just for their success in keeping the focus locked down...even when it's on manual to start with. The camera seems not to like bright light very much, but it thrives on dim or dark conditions. I really thought we'd have a lot more trouble with a close shot of Shadow_of_Evil given the lights we had to work with, but the reverse was the case: underlighting with seven candles, fill lighting with a flashlight, and backlighting from the far end of the tunnel seemed to create a Hollywood-class effect. And then there's the cockpit shots we did yesterday: I was again expecting a swine of a time shooting with the wattage and quality of lights we had, when again the reverse applied. It's amazing what cellophane and (again) a Maglite torch can do for special effects.

And we've got all the shots we need in the can as far as I can see for today's shooting...which is most gratifying given that the tunnel ones in particular could have been a lot more difficult than they were.

Assuming of course that Darran's got permission for us to shoot in the House Of Pain again (see references to sunburn and heat stress above for details) I hope to have another 30-odd shots in the can by the end of tomorrow afternoon, but it's a matter of getting permission to film. Frankly I'm really hoping that'll be the case; I'd much rather have Sam lying on 21-degree red bricks than the 26-27-degree red bricks while Elliot and me duke it out in costumes that were clearly never designed for actual fighting. ;)

And I'm going to say it now, because nearly every other cast and crew member is going to say it anyway before the end: things are going 100% Super OK.

    :D
