Barry ill reply to your post in depth later, cos im listening to the new Snoop album, that just leeked: http://www.sohh.info/audio/Snoop_Dogg_R&G_Rhythm_and_Gangsta_The_Masterpiece-2004-ult/ Props to me tongue props to you? steal my links then want props for it? fvcking faggot
So... Eminem's album leeked. Will have it soon. Word is, its lyrically his weakest. Also it has 8 Dre beats, and the rest Eminem. Dre's work is meant to be his weakest in years, and Em's is the usual averageness he delivers. This album is being rated like 3/5... =========== Comic Book Guy
Already have Em's album, though since I have a midterm in one of my classes in 8.5 hours, I won't have time to listen to it until tomorrow night. Will definitely give my thoughts then.
So, there are HIPHOP heads on the boards. Didnt have time to read all the post but Im just pleased to see it up. Weapon of choice: ASR10.
Yeah i got the Em album about 10 mins after my post. I cant be bothered to listen to it now, because ive been up for 2 days straight now, need some sleep. BTW Barry, did you get the bonus tracks? =========== Comic Book Guy
I dont know how an album can veer between powerful music to annoying garbage. Or lyrical excellence, to wack lyrics. At times this album hits 5 out of 5, at other times 1 out of 5. He will never get a classic album if he splits between Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers, it just feels like the album lacks direction. Unless he drops a double disc, one with each personality, he will never achieve what he wants. =========== Comic Book Guy
Who was it a few pages back that asked if anyone likes any rappers from NY? If you haven't noticed, most rappers that are being discussed in this thread are from NY. As far as I know there are three main areas that hip hop stems from with a few other secondary areas branching off the main areas. In no particular order rap comes mainly from; New York California Georgia The secondary areas would be regions like: the North; Michigan, Ohio, and other states in the North The Midwest The South; Tennessee, Alabama Now, I read a few pages back when someone (OGOneKenobi69 I think) said he only likes OutKast pre-Stankonia and he only likes B.E.P. pre-Fergie. That doesn't make sense to me. Well, particularly the whole OutKast thing. I can't see how you like some of their albums but not the others. They are all fantastic albums. I find that most people who say they are huge fans of OutKast haven't even listened to Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik or even know of its existence. The albums OutKast have released tell a story and I think, before you pass judgement, that you should listen to all of them sequentially. Then maybe you will see a new appreciation for them and you will have heard the messages they are telling. I seem to be one of the few who actually likes all of their albums and loves anything and everything they produce. I'll be honest with you too. I don't really try and listen to any other kind of music than that which is produced in the South. Mainly, because when I do listen to it, it all sounds the same. Maybe I haven't listened to the right stuff. Now, don't think I'm completely ignorant. I do listen to stuff from the West Coast and from the North, just not as much as I listen to Southern rap. Before anyone brings up Lil' Jon I'll go ahead and say it myself. He is not a rapper. He admits this. He knows he's not a rapper. He produces funky beats that get everyone crunk as hell. Which is why everyone and their mom wants Lil' Jon to produce songs for them because they know his beats sell. Since Chappelle made fun of him his popularity has skyrocketed. I hate to break it to you but in Atlanta we've been listening to him for close to a decade. I remember back in '96 and '97 if you asked someone outside of the South if they liked Lil' Jon they would say Lil' who? Now, because of MTV he's on top of the world. Same thing with OutKast before Rosa Parks or Ms. Jackson. Most people would not really recognize their name and most of those people would be surprised to learn that they have been releasing albums since 1994. If you haven't listened to the following groups/persons you need to; OutKast Goodie Mob YoungBloodZ Three 6 Mafia Project Pat Ludacris The first two groups are fantastic and their songs really make you think and search within the song for the deeper message. And at the same time their music can get you crunk too. YoungBloodZ and Three 6 aren't as good of storytellers or lyricists as Goodie or OutKast but they sure can get you crunk as **** with most of their songs. Project Pat and Ludacris are both pretty good lyricists (though not on the same level as OutKast or Goodie) and their beats can get you crunk too. If you want a sample of life growing up in the slums listen to Project Pat's albums in order. All in all good **** to listen to. As a matter of fact I'll go ahead and just say it. Atlanta is where rap is turning to now. OutKast, Ciara, Usher, Ludacris, Lil' Jon, T.I., Killer Mike, Eightball, MJG, YoungBloodZ, Goodie Mob, Yin Yang Twinz, and Bonecrusher just to name a few that people will recognize. All have had one of more singles released in the last year or so that have stayed on the charts for a while. And to throw a curveball to all who think Nas is the greatest of all time. Andre 3000 wrote 'One Mic' for Nas. To me : Nas = Old news (Personally I'm sick of him which is why I don't listen to him) Jay Z = Needs to go ahead and retire if he keeps saying he's going to Puff Daddy = Just needs to st
And to throw a curveball to all who think Nas is the greatest of all time. Andre 3000 wrote 'One Mic' for Nas. PPOR. I've talked to a few friends who are Nas fans and post on other hip hop message boards and they haven't heard anything about One Mic being ghostwritten. Since the album has been out since 2001, I think we would have heard something about it by now.
I just finished listening to Em's CD. Man, this is straight wack. After Mosh, all the songs are garbage except a couple are ehhh ok. But, just because it's Eminem, teenagers will be ****-riding and this ish will go multi-platinum. I ain't buying this crap. It's sad when 50 outshines Em on a track lyrically.
LOL yeah, first few tracks OK, then you get Toy Soldier and Mosh, and you start thinking; this is gonna be good. Then....ehhh. Crazy in Love is so wack, the beat sucks, the lyrics even more. I mean we dont care about his baby momma, this is the 10th song hes done on her...Do you think any other rapper could get away with that? NO. Although the chorus for Crazy in Love is my crack lol. LOL @ Anyone saying Andre 3000 wrote One Mic, he doesnt even write like that. Although Jungle (Nas' brother) once claimed he wrote it, but anyone whos ever heard Jungle rap would know hes lying. Also One Mic isnt the most lyrical song Nas has ever written, no way near it. Its just the emotion he uses to rap. But forget this, this is coming from someone who thinks YoungbloodZ are better than Nas or Jay. =========== Comic Book Guy
Andre3000 always wanted to do a One Mic, apparently he told Big Mike about the CONCEPT - who told JUNGLE about it. Jungle then wanted to do something like that but ended up giving THE CONCEPT to Nas (probably because there's no way Jungle could make it work with his....talent).
Well, I'll have to retract then Bonds because I can't find the article where I read that. Comic Book Boy, I never said I thought YoungBloodZ were better than Nas or Gay-Z. I just said I like them more. Excuse me for having preferences that differ from yours. Anyone that claims that they're 'The greatest rapper alive' definitely isn't and anyone who claims themselves as God's son doesn't get any attention from me. I couldn't care less about any rapper from NY (especially 68 Cents) or any person from NY for that matter.

The family of Andre ?Mac Dre? Hicks will hold a public viewing for the rapper, who was shot to death on a stretch of highway in Kansas City. The family will hold the viewing from noon to 5 p.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1735 Enterprise Drive, in Fairfield, California A private service for the family will also take place. Police have met a stone wall while investigating the case, thus far. Reports said that as many as 12 people in Hicks? entourage refused to cooperate. Some even denied knowing him. Police are honing in on the Mac Dre?s tour schedule, seeking to determine a motive as to why the rapper was gunned down in what they say was a premeditated attack in a stolen car. Mac Dre released more than 20 albums during his career. =========== Comic Book Guy
