Rogue One [Official Info] Grand Moff Tarkin (Guy Henry and Peter Cushing) in Rogue One

Well don't expect me to post it, I got into enough trouble last week for posting an image.

 

I know this may be seen as a stupid question, but does it actually look like Cushing from the ANH period?

 

No it's not a daft question, the easiest way I can describe it is if an image of Cushing was mirrored but you have this faint grid overlay.

Stallone doesn't look exactly right somehow and its the same with the Tarkin render. I have been talking to someone today and they reckon Tarkin will be pulled because they just can't get it to what they want.

 

Such a disaster.

 

In fairness, for the scant seconds Tarkin appears in ROTS, it works ok.

I agree that it's a terrible makeup job, but we really only can appreciate its terribleness in close-up publicity stills or behind the scenes images.

The end product in the film itself suffices, I suppose. We don't get any close-ups on him, nor does he have any speaking lines. If that would have happen, then it really would have been much more of a disaster.

 

Make up for lighting, it's common in filming. Besides for the few seconds onscreen it mattered not.

 

Tarkin render?

 

I just want to say the actor who played Tarkin in ROTS doesn't look a lot like Cushing aside from height and general build. That being said, I'm sure if they were looking for a close-up shot or any sort of protracted scene they'd probably do a better job with the make-up.

 

They should scan this bust of Tarkin.

 

Oh no! Please say this isn't true...

I really want Tarkin in this movie but I would hate to see a degraded form of him that bares no resemblance and ruins an icon! Where is this render that you guys speak of?

 

An example of the type of pic I was shown, t's very similar to this one is from Superman Returns and shows the rendering of Marlon Brando's Jor-El character for that film.



Probably the best 'make-up' Tarkin.

 

I really hope he makes it in.

That Tarkin looks 1000 times better than the one we got! Never seen that before.

This was the original test make-up of Pygram that GL didn't like, apparently he said Tarkin looked far too old.

 

I feel like he looks far older in the final version...

 

I have to say, that looks far better than the final version. But it really didn't matter.

 

Daniel Craig with the right makeup could be a decent Tarkin. Put him in every new Star Wars film, like John Ratzenberger in Pixar flicks. There could be a scene where Tarkin and Galen are playing Sabacc.

 

Goes to show that Lucas was no God. That original test is about a million times better than the final one he chose. Not to mention that the original actually looks younger and less like a...zombie.

 

In this article, it mentions Dreamworks took a look of the Grand Moff Tarkin bust. Also, I believe Sir Cushing had a death mask made. Anyways, the technical staff should have all the measurements they need to create a digital overal using an actor with similar facial measurements.

I don't believe ILM would want to miss the opportunity to be the first to bring back a dead actor in a feature film, not including actors who died during production, but one that had been dead for many decades.

It could start a trend.

Exciting and scary.

 

I know you said feature film - But haven't actors who have passed on been used in ads?
