Solo [Official Info] Solo: A Star Wars Story - May 25, 2018

Man I am so intrigued by all this Maul talk. But I don't want to be too spoiled going into Solo.

 

Maybe Maul can finally be the Vader he was supposed to be in episode 1.

It seems like it gets left VERY open ended for a standalone film which makes me think they are planning sequels. Like it doesn't even seem like Han and Qi'ra get a proper break up scene, she tells him she'll be right there and then she flies off and holocalls with Darth Maul, so like when does Han even figure out that she's not coming with him?

If they don't have sequels, I'm sure they'll wrap up Qi'ra and Maul's story in a comic or book somewhere at least.

Bob Iger said this film took Han from 18-24, but now it says it ends when he's 21. I wonder if part way through production they decided they wanted to do sequels and shortened the years on the film.

 

Me after completely spoiling myself prior to actually seeing a movie: “I kinda regret spoiling that. I wonder what it would have been like for me to experience that in film and not have been spoiled?”

shows up, someone in the row behind me screamed very loudly, "Oh **** is that the dude from Star Wars!?" and his friends proceeded to, again very loudly, call him an idiot.

 

It has to lead into Kenobi. It doesn’t matter if they’ve told parts of it in TCW & Rebels. The actual films will be seen by far more people and if they respect aspects of what was in the animated series then it can feel more like a partial adaptation anyway. Plus, it would be more from Kenobi’s perspective and what’s going on with him more anyway.

 

I've wanted to see more of dark times Maul pre-Rebels, but this doesn't feel right. You know people would want to then see more of Maul in this era on screen. While Maul: A Star Wars story could work, I don't see how this cameo could set him to show up in a Kenobi Film.

I'm positive that a Kenobi film would be set pre-Mauls final death, though with Maul not knowing about Kenobi still being alive/location before his Rebels introduction, I don't see how the two characters can share the screen unless Kenobi is being haunted by TPM/TCW Maul hallucination.

Would have been nice to finally get a Star Wars film where no dark sider shows up.

 

No they deffently continnue that storline in future solo movies and Kenoi movies, hell he might show up in other spin off movies.

 

What makes you confident that the Kenobi film won’t take place in the time period of Maul’s death? Juat that they’d have to age Ewan so much with hair and makeup? I could imagine the big screen version of that same moment playing out at the end with more Kenobi story occurring right before that.

Maybe the Kenobi story will be over several years rather than only one short time period? Solo already is. RO was.

 

I would rather have known about Han's death ahead of time (and I did), it would have been too upsetting in the theater for me, personally.

 

If they kenobi at the same time as mauls death it takes a lot of potential storytelling years away.

Especially if you jump to far ahead.

 

I think they use Maul in theese movies as an over arc-villain.

Pablo said once that people were jumping to conclusions in think Solo was a trilogy. KK said that:

"[...] Kennedy also said that Lucasfilm is looking for specific filmmakers for the Star Wars Story movies to bring in unique sensibilities to their projects. It doesn't seem that Kennedy wants these standalones to feel like the main films: "They are really being designed as standalone movies which is fantastic for the filmmakers we bring in, and the actors we hire, because it’s a different sensibility."

Kennedy assured that these films aren't franchise fodder, either. That is, Lucasfilm isn't making these to spawn more Star Wars film series. Each film will "very definitely have a beginning, middle, and end," according to Kennedy.

Some people thought RO had a final open to more movies about rebellion's adventure in OT apart of Han/Luke/Leia story, other fans disagree.

 

Well they also said that a sequel will depend on the fans.

Presumbaly every film has to feel like a one off incase there isn't another one

A lot of the reviews I am seeing say that Solo was left feeling VERY open ended and totally set up for a sequel. Rogue One had an obvious end because it goes right into ANH so there aren't any sequels possible but I wonder if they want to leave the door open for a sequel if Solo does well.

what's interesting is most people don't know about maul's extended story or timeline.

 

Is there a way they could show maul in the film and not actually acknowledge its him, so its basically something only the fans are aware of?

I assume not.

 

I snapped and read a summary of the plot. The whole plot. The entire thing, start to finish.
