Depends on the character. In Westworld, Newton plays a prostitute. Her wardrobe (and regular nudeness) is perfectly appropriate in that context. If Newton, however, plays an Imperial Officer in Han Solo, and she's for some reason scantily clad in some naughty version of an Imperial uniform, that would be entirely inappropriate.
This is a great conversation overall, but for those only interested in the SW portion it starts 35 minutes in:
Hilarious how they enter into discussing Jedi philosophy without even realizing it! Thandie's fantastic. Never watched an interview with her before, and I'm very impressed.
She's a phenomenal actor, a real asset to this franchise. I discovered her in Beloved, back when I was still a teenager, and was floored by her talent in that film. I had no idea until very recently that she was even in this Han Solo movie. As someone not that excited about it (or the concept of the spin-offs in general) knowing that she's in this actually does significantly perk my interest.
Key quote: Methinks the "90% of the film was reshot" rumor was grossly inflated. Probably just an excitable source who really meant "there were a lot of reshoots."
We got a name for her character now that we got a glimpse at her in the trailer. http://www.jedinews.co.uk/film-musi...er-names-thandie-newton-phoebe-waller-bridge/
It reveals that she is a bit of a ...... “I’m the first woman of colour to have prominent role in Star Wars legacy” Of course you are dahling...
I think she simply intended to say that she's the first black woman with a prominent role in Star Wars. Which is true. And a good thing.
Thandie addressed that in her comments. Really wouldn’t judge her on this. She’s been nothing but wonderful in every single interview I’ve seen her in.
That's because she IS wonderful. I hope Val is written well. Because if she is, then Thandie will rock it.
Man oh man oh man was this character underused. I nearly screamed when she hit that trigger. My "Noooo" would have sounded just like Luke's when Vader struck Ben down!!!! Thandie Newton was doing a FANTASTIC job. After her first scene I was like OMG this character is going to be superb, probably the best in the film.I cant believe they killed Val off, especially so soon. Shen had me absolutely glued to the screen, I loved her. Unbelievable. Lets see some love for this very short-lived character!
I agree that Val was a character that left too soon in Solo film. I’d echo the same sentiments for Rio too. A strong female character who was ace in the action scenes.
I'll be buying her Black Series action figure. Has anyone seen it? If looks superb. "It's been a ride babe...." It certainly was Val. For a brief time, on screen with you, it certainly was......
