If (obviously a huge "if" at this point) they do a Boba Fett film - Wouldn't you love to see him somewhere in there?? Then again, they could use Jabba (ala Vader in RO) for a small but vital part
Vader and Fett seem to have a relationship of some kind if they pull some of the legends stuff into canon. Could see him in the Fett film.
Have to say I am worried about the Han Solo movie. I think it's a movie that does not need to be made.
I think the Vader stuff was just about perfect - often times in life "less is more". Think about all the great horror movies where the "monster" isn't shown that often (Alien is a good example). If you put Vader into the film more you risk him dominating things and losing his impact. I mean that corridor scene was awesome, but if you showed Vader murdering rebels for 5-10 minutes it would probably get silly and boring. Just think about the PT - the first time I saw TPM I was amazed by Obi Wan and Qui Gonn going ham on battle droids, but eventually Jedi vs Droid scenes became boring and tensionless
I agree. That opening scene of Jinn and Kenobi utterly mowing down the droids was about as immaculately timed as possible. It was just about the same length as the Vader slasher film at the end of RO. Much more and it would cease being a wonder and would abruptly overstay its welcome.
Which is the biggest reason why we didn't see the Emperor at all. In a way, his use of Force lightning in ROTS kind of ruins the impact of its use in ROTJ (especially since Yoda apparently didn't warn Luke about that specific danger). Vader was used perfectly in Rogue One.
I want to ask a serious question, and I'll preference it by saying that Anakin and Darth Vader are my favourite characters ever and I have only watched the films and tv series,no books or comics... But is Darth Vader actually good at his job? Example: - Darth Vader (human form in ROTS) nearly got killed by Obi and no doubt cost the emperor a bit of coin to keep him alive with treatment/suit ect for his injuries - In Rebels the Ghost crew got away from him numerous times and he didn't get the holocron either - In ANH and RO he lets the Death Star plans slip through his fingertips - In ANH, he let Princess Leia, one of the best hostages the emperor could hope for escape from the Death Star - Again in ANH couldn't stop Luke from blowing up the Death Star which as we know with RO took years and heaps of money to build and perfect - ESB, he doesn't capture the rebels or Luke at Hoth - ESB, doesn't capture Luke at Landos - ROTJ, doesn't turn or kill Luke Now as I said, I love the character but if you were his boss you would probably fire him on performance alone, remembering he kills your top Brass for fun.. Just a thought, please don't shot me down to quick..
Fire him? And replace him by who? Imperial of the Month? Vader is still the guy who has biggest Jedi and Rebel kill count in combat and the only one who successfully managed to discover not just one, but three times the location of the Rebel bases. So I say he is still the best person for his job compared to, uh.. virtually anyone else. However, regardless of the villain, these stories are still being told from the heroes’ POV so the villains will always have to fail at the end.
Basically. The end of RO was a good blend for me. Sure, the plans get out because they have to. But Vader causes dread within the enemy just from his presence, and he kills everyone within his reach. He's a dark and scary thought and nobody wants to be left alone with him. In TESB, Vader doesn't catch the Rebels but the generator was destroyed. The Rebels fled. I also think the Falcon flying away from Vader was a good compromise. Because if Vader arrived on the scene sooner, there's a good chance Han and the others would've been stopped before they boarded the ship. Sure, Vader didn't capture Luke at Cloud City, but he cut off his hand and did defeat him. Vader didn't want to kill Luke so that dictated his response. He tried to reason with Luke, just as Han did with Ben. Not turning Luke to the Dark Side ultimately was a victory because it set him free.
And Vader didn’t have “audience knowledge”. He went there to eliminate rebels, not to see if they were copying data to a disk and passing it among themselves and escape to a miraculously hidden ship conveniently waiting there. Perhaps he could have taken a different approach to the situation if he already knew beforehand how things would unfold. At the end, all villains in Star Wars fail, but most of them fail because they are just stupid or inept. I think what ultimately makes Vader a winner of Best Villain lists, aside from the character design, is that it somehow never appears that the reason why the heroes escape is his fault, but due to incredible hero luck or deus ex machina resolutions. Or someone has the high ground.
An example of this is the trench run. Vader was shooting down X-Wings. He closed in on Luke and said "I have you now". Then Han came out of nowhere. A TIE fighter clipped Vader and he was sent hurtling away into space.
I love Vader's Tunic covering his shoulder/chest armor, it makes him look more gothic, more priestly.
I really wish that the Rogue One filmmakers put Vader's Tunic over his shoulder/chest armor earlier in the production. They wouldn't have had to have used CGI with the Tunic in the first place and in the quick scene of Vader aboard his Star Destroyer The Devastator in Rogue One they missed putting the Tunic over the shoulder armor with CGI. The movie is still excellent though.
i wish i could watch the vader scene at the end over and over... and i mean i can... but it's sooooo short. more vader. i need more vader.
