It's not so much Manson's version itself (although I really don't much care for it), it's that everyone now assumes that Manson wrote that song, and when they hear DM's original, they say, "Manson is way ******* better!" It pisses me off.

And I never, not once, bought into his shock-and-awe crap. He is one smart joker, and I like some of his stuff, but the whole format of his celebrity rubs me the wrong way.

I like Manson's version more than any other. The style of the music was his own.

I initially didn't care for Manson much at all, but over the past few years his stuff has really grown on me and I've bought a few of his songs off iTunes.

His covers of Personal Jesus & Tainted Love are quite good, and mOBSCENE is just darn fun. Coma White is a beautiful song as well- probbaly my favorite of his tracks.

Disposable Teens, Don't Like the Drugs, Rock Is Dead, Doll-Dagga Buzz-Buzz Ziggety-Zag & This Is The New **** also stand out besides the obvious Beautiful People and Sweet Dreams tracks.

I actually didn't truely first appreciating Sweet Dreams until I heard it during the credits to some crappy horror film, and thats when it's atmopsheric nature really struck me. I can't even listen to the original pop version of that song now, it just doesn't have the weight to it.

Thank you, Kavic Toth for making this thread official.

Has anyone heard of Marilyn Manson's "Irresponsible Hate Anthem (Venus Head Trap Mix)" on the "Saw II" soundtrack?

I think it is better than his original version.

    Which song is your favorite?

I've listened to Mechanical Animals(the song) so many times...

Funny that that's my favourite album, but none of my favourite songs are from it.

Oh yeah! The whole Celebretarian movement!

First listened to...oh man. I don't remember. I remember I didn't like him at first. Then I suddenly became obsessed over the summer. I'm going to have to say, I think it was The Beautiful People. But the first one that I liked was The Nobodies.

I would have never gotten into Manson if I never bought The Matrix soundtrack. I thought it was the score, but it turned out to be the songs from the movie instead. Im glad it happened that way.
