Do I speak for anyone else here when I say WHA? Sometimes this board scares me.

Tracey, so, have you worn out the batteries yet? I can't wait till my friend gets his. I'm personally waiting for the Vader saber. Love that red blade. I haven't seen any of the FX sabers in person, so I wanted to wait until my friend got his before I committed. Is it all you ever dreamed of?

In the middle of The Twilight Zone. First one, really liked it. It will spawn some interesting discussion from me. Just ready to start the second. We'll see.

And a short review of last night's Buffy: Loved it. Again, not enough Willow. 8/10.

Who's Willow? The only character I know of by that name is, as Leonard Nimoy would sing, "only three feet tall."

Yes, Moulin Rouge was quite entertaining. And I'm happy that you got your long-awaited and much-ballyhooed lightsaber, Tracey--you desrve it. As for kettlecorn, I can do without it--I rank it somewhere before funnel cakes and just behind cotton candy on the "things I least want to eat from a vendor on a boardwalk or at a state fair" list. Tom, the "Willow" that you're wondering about is, in fact, a character on "Buffy" (played by Allyson Hannigan, the redhead of "American Pie" band-camp fame), and NOT a mystical elf -like creature in a certain fantasy film that a certain famous director was involved with. Speaking of fantasy films, what's the release date on the next LOTR flick?

Moulin Rouge...it was like drag queen meets opium and has a long and torrid affair. Weirdness without effort intrigues me. Weirdness for the sake of weirdness..annoys me. All I have to say is John Leguiziamo (sp) is in it and sings...his abilities haven't changed much since his stellar choice, Oscar snubbed role in Super Mario Bros.

When is Firefly on? I'm needing to satisfy a Scifi jones. Something other than Farscape.. Farscape might be good. But everytime time I see it I think of the Shrimp Muppet from the Muppet movies and just start laughing.

Just because I have to, Red_Jedi_Knight, what the hell does HILLS have to do with anything? Were you studying topography and were just consumed by the moment? Were you jonesing canned coffee? Because unless you explain the little inside jokes were going to have heavily sedate you.

Amen, Marcy. And Firefly is on Fridays at 7 on Fox. I should warn, though - it is sci-fi, but it's also fairly heavy on western.

Buffy this week - pretty cool, and whacked out Spike - ultra cool. I'll have to go a little higher than Catie and give it a 9/10 again. That scene with Spike hugging a cross at the end put it over the top for me.

Enterprise 2.3 "Minefield" - It was neat to hear from the Romulans (and continuity didn't get too much of a golden shower), and the interaction between Archer and Reed was interesting. I'll have to give it a 8/10

Twilight Zone - Despite kind of calling the ending of the first story 3 seconds in, it still managed to surprise me. I said that somehow the time-chick wouldn't be able to kill little Hitler. I was sort of right. It's probably the first story of the new Zone that I kind of liked, and I'll give it a 8.5/10. The second story still managed to insult my intelligence, however. After the chick almost got hit by a car, and the bus came to pick her up, I said it was the Death Bus and I was right. I think it was doubly insulting of them to say that this chick didn't lead a real life and was deluding herself at the end as well. That just confused me more than anything. I guess I didn't see the "symbolism" or whatever I was supposed to see from that. Lowest rating yet, a 2/10.

Stay tuned Friday for my review of the most excellent show to premiere this season, "Firefly". Oh, and everyone should download the unaired pilot for Firefly from Kazaa.

Well Tom, I see someone watched Heavenly Creatures lately. Awesome movie. The first Peter Jackson movie I had seen and I knew I had to see more. I was thrilled when I found out he was directing the LOTR trilogy. Haunting movie, very disturbing. The lead actresses did a fantabulous job. I can't wait to pick it up on DVD.

Marcy, Pepe is not a shrimp. He's a King Prawn! That would be really funny if you've seen Muppets In Space. Not to be confused with the skit "Pigs in Spaaaaace!" with Captain Link Heartthrob, First Mate Piggy and Dr. Strangepork. God, I loved that show. Especially "Veteranarian's Hospital" and the couples dancing in a ball room, telling bad jokes and bad puns. Probably shaped my warped sense of humor. Thank goodness. And you really should check out Firefly. It is very good.

Thank you Jason, for clarrifying the Willow thing for Tom. It's just so weird to me that someone doesn't know who that character is. I'm just that engrossed in the show.
And Jeff, it would have been a 9/10 if there was more Willow. But the one scene with her and Giles was almost a 10. Just the three minute scene. What a dynamic they have.
The Spike stuff was very interesting. I liked Xander a little more in this one, too. That's an accomplishment.

I have to spend a few more hours trying to get out of the darn Lotus Forest in Kingdom Hearts now. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. How many times do I have to eat the acorn before I get somewhere?

Wow, I've gotta learn now not to read this thread when I've had to tape shows that I wanna watch (Buffy, Enterprise, Twilight Zone) and haven't seen yet.

I have to agree with Sy that I have been disappointed on the whole lack of Willow thing. It seems to me that we should get to see more of her recovery than what they are showing us. Also, the whole Spike with a soul thing...how scary is that? Will he eventually come to grips with it like Angel, or will he just totally go unhinged and never come back? Speaking of Angel, I am so looking forward to the premiere on Sunday!

"...the 'Willow' that you're wondering about is ... Allyson Hannigan, the redhead..."

    Oh... the hot one! :D

"...what's the release date on the next LOTR flick?"

    December 18

"Weirdness for the sake of weirdness..annoys me."

I couldn't agree more. That's why I really didn't care for Moulin Rouge.

"...I see someone watched Heavenly Creatures lately."

Indeed I have. I bought it at Kmart, no less, along with the Spongebob Squarepants Halloween collection.

"It's just so weird to me that someone doesn't know who that character is."

I'm sorry, I just don't watch Buffy. I get the impression it tries to be more serious than the movie, and nothing can top the hilarity of Paul Reubens' death scene.

According to Joss Wheden (I know I didn't spell his name right), the creator of Buffy, the movie was supposed to be more like the show is, all serious and stuff, but the studio didn't think it would fly and wouldn't produce it unless it was done campily (hee, new word!). The tv show is the vision he actually had for how things were supposed to be. In fact, Joss had a comic book set called Buffy Origins done to rewrite how the movie should have gone.

Don't get me wrong, I like the campy Buffy movie, but I really dig Buffy the tv show much more.

Edit: And yes, Paul Ruben's death scene was awesome in the movie.

On a completely unrelated subject, how would you all feel about holding a fundraiser(not sure what kind yet, ideas welcome)for a really grand scheme I'm thinking of doing. The long and short of it is this: You remember my friend that passed away from leukemia? She was a SW fan, visited on the FF boards often and I'm thinking of contacting Leukemia research organizations worldwide(for however many there may be worldwide) and getting a "Bethany Hughes - SW Fan Foundation" started and have Fanforces worldwide hold fundraisers to contribute to the research of leukemia. The reason for contacting research centers worldwide would be so that the FF groups supports their own country's research facilites and thus, helping everywhere.
Obviously, that also means contacting FF members on other boards and seeing if they would be interested as well, but it usually helps to start at home.
So, what do you all think of this idea?

It sounds great, Tracey! It would be nice to have true purpose here, rather than just the constant spewing of nonsense that we perform on a daily basis. Say--we wouldn't have to cut back on THAT, would we?

No, of course not!! This is also a place to have fun and have that constant spewing of nonsense, its all part of being in the FF.
But, I would like to do something useful too. Especially when there is a cause that can affect anyone.(really, it can, besides Bethany, I know of at least 2 other people who have died from this disease and I know that there are a couple other people in this group who knows of someone who has had it.) And I think it would be really cool to do something like this worldwide.

(Edit): By the way, I LOVE my lightsaber, especially cool in the dark!! and the sound effects are kinda cool too. Already looking for my next one since according to Master Replicas, its not a toy, but a collector item and I really don't want it to get wrecked, so I'm thinking of ordering one through Lightechindustries.com. They have some unique ones that are made for "battling" with. Tough call on what to get first, my tattoo(no, haven't gotten that yet, had to cover the checkbook so nothing would bounce :( ) or another lightsaber. Decisions, Decisions!!
