I mean sure, everyone has different levels of suspension of disbelief. There hasn't been a canon-breaking thought in my mind while watching this show.

On another note, your signature intrigues me quite a bit. I can't say I disagree much, at least in the general idea of the parts of Star Wars that are better than other parts. I would personally rank AOTC and TPM significantly higher (both of them above A New Hope), "The Bad Batch" perhaps a few spots up, and Kenobi probably 8-9 spots higher. You seem to have forgotten about Visions and The Holiday Special though (!)

Same, I think it's wonderful and Ewan is acting his ass off. It's absolutely up there with his best work ever. Vivian is about as good a child actress as you were going to find and she's just wonderful as Leia. For me what the show has done is add so much depth and emotion to ANH because you see her message in R2 and she gets to the end and says help me you're my only hope and now it's connected to how this man came out and save her as a little girl and why she wasn't necessarily terribly impressed with Luke and Han's rescue and why when Luke said "I'm with Ben Kenobi" she got so excited. It's not just sort of a vague understanding of "well the message got through, she's excited, etc" And also illustrates even more how much pain she had to put aside to put aside - we've now gotten to know the Organas see her interact with them, she lost her family, her whole world, she lost a hero but she put it aside to comfort Luke, someone she barely knew, and help the Rebellion.

It's doing a terrific job of showing Obi-Wan rebuilding himself. You have people who can name every starship and alien species yet don't recognize the beauty in how they are showing Obi-Wan coming into himself again and how each episode has portrayed that. The last episode wasn't filler, imo, it was a major episode in Obi-Wan getting back in touch with who he IS.

Not to mention actually showing the horror of the Empire and Vader for what they were. Everything they did to everyone else, they did to the Jedi and the Force sensitives first. The "trophy cases" were horrifying. If you've watched The Clone Wars then you know in the first case you are seeing Master Sinube, one of the oldest and most revered of the Jedi Masters, all the way down to a little youngling still wearing his training helmet, all treated like animals(and perhaps even set as a trap for other Jedi who sense their signatures and try to find them). It's monstrous and I'm glad they aren't sugar-coating it.

I do wonder whether this show really should have just been a movie.

He thought he killed the person he was closest to in the galaxy, the boy he raised and trained and TRULY believed in, that was a pretty damn bad consequence to live with for 10 years. I don't think now knowing Anakin lived is necessarily worse, just different.

Plus the final duel in ROTS really didn't quite fit "Obi-Wan once thought as you do" yeah we spent years squinting to make it work but he'd literally JUST found out about Anakin turning and Anakin had JUST turned. It was horrific but I think it's save to say it hadn't quite sunk in just HOW terrible. It doesn't really have quite the same impact as if after all this(assuming this happens in the next two episodes), all he already knew, the Temple massacre, etc, after seeing the horror of what Vader has become, seeing his brother and sister Jedi entombed like trophies, having Vader try to burn him alive, he STILL believes there is a possibility for Anakin to be saved, it's a bigger impact IMO. It's a truly more faithful belief in both Anakin and the Force as well as a bigger tragedy that Anakin refuses and chooses to remain in the cold of dark, rather than the safety and warmth of the Force's light.

"The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner. Now, I am the master."

So there's a circle, which began to take shape when Anakin left Obi-Wan. Meaning when he left the Jedi to become a Sith and Obi-Wan showed him that he still had a lot to learn, by defeating him.
Now, when the circle is complete, the tables are turned and Vader has learned all that he needs to know.

So, if there's a circle motion here, with ROTS being the starting point and ANH being the return to that point - and there's a 180° twist happening along the way (turning the tables) - then what should their status be midway through?

I'd say they should be about equal.

Vader was wiping the floor (or the burning ground) with Ben on Mapuzo, but that's not the fight by which he will estimate their levels of mastery. They will meet again in Part VI and when they do, it will become clear to Vader that Obi-Wan has overcome the emotional instability that held him back; that he has bounced back to full Jedi mode and become the true Obi-Wan Kenobi of that time period.
Then, they'll be evenly matched and the duel will end when Ben somehow gets away and disappears without a trace.

...unless they retcon "When I left you" by having Vader leave because Ben is about to defeat him again...

    Either way, canon remains intact!

I loved how they're treating the Leia/Obi-Wan relationship. It really adds depth to the scene in ANH when she really doesn't give a **** when he dies.

Of course she gives a ****. However, as she tells Commander Willard on Yavin IV, they have no time for their sorrows. She has a lot to grieve for, but she has to put those feelings aside until they've dealt with the Death Star. Who knows how hard that grief will hit her when she lets it out?

In all fairness, we don't really get much of an impression that she cares about her adopted parents and homeworld after they get blown up. ANH is unique in the Saga, in that it's framed more as a fairy tale than a myth. Grief fades quickly in the context where loss is simply a means for transition.

you know what's funny that i never hear anyone bring up? Everything is either about the Empire looking for Kenobi or a few last stragglers.
No one mentiones Yoda. They didn't think he was dead at the end of ROTS , yet no one talking about the actual strongest Jedi Master.

It's worse when you look at the galactic map and realize Dagobah is directly next to Mustafar. Yoda straight trolls Vader, reflecting the sun off a mirror toward his castle.

I think they do talk about Yoda. It's just that Reva's been obsessed with finding Obi-Wan because she knows he was Vader's master, which makes catching him personal and thus an opportunity for her to become the Grand Inquisitor.
So that's naturally where the focus is at the moment.

EDIT: There's also the fact that great Jedi Masters like Yoda and Obi-Wan have been impossible for them to track down since they know how to stay hidden, so they focus instead on catching smaller prey like Nari. Hence, no on-screen talk about a Jedi Master that they aren't looking for and that Reva is not obsessed with.

EDIT 2: They might still mention him at some point, though.

They don’t consider Yoda a threat because the one time he ventured down to Nur he was mocked.

He decided to walk down the beach there where the Empire was training some young brats who couldn’t be much older than teenage kids. The kids lacked discipline. They just wanted to play hacky-sack all day long.

They warned Yoda not to stroll on the beach. Told him “Seagulls gonna come. Hit you in the coconut.” And they did. And they did.

Nothing he could do but yell when those birds attacked him. Then he tried to run and fell. Then the kids started laughing.

They're going to sloppily shoehorn in any and every little thing they can to draw viewers and sell toys I'm sure. Don't worry, it'll be terrible.
