I agree the line is important, but the revelation that Leia has force powers is also a very important part of the scene, so I think those two things together emotionally justify the explanation. For me it's no less a cop-out/convoluted plot line than Leia being Luke's sister in the first place.

Though, ROTS is the first SW I ever saw so the inconsistency was always there for me. I can see how if you were attached to a certain idea of what that line meant before the PT came out then the issue would be more glaring.

Apparently, this show had a budget of $90 million? While Mando and The Book of Boba had $100 million.

Now $90 million may seem lower, but its a budget for just 6 episodes, so they would probably get more out of that budget.

It's still much less than a typical movie budget for a franchise like SW. The Force Awakens, for instance, cost about 250-300 million.

I wonder how much of that $90 went to Ewan McGregor's salary (or Joel Edgerton's for that matter). TM and TBOBF didn't have such big names in it.

Something tells me Ewan traded some up-front salary for that executive producer credit.

For a theatrical movie the upfront payment for actors can be defrayed with profit sharing on the back end. Is there anything like that on a streaming series?

a lot went to Flea and Ice cube Jr, no doubt. SW is trying to be hip by hiring people from the music industry. Expect Eilish or Gaga in future content.
Yes, I'm an Xer, so I lived the SW trilogy in its original run. Magical era that can't be replicated, although many shows keep trying to nowadays.

What's the order in which you saw the films the 1st time

So, how many hours until the finale drops

To be fair, Gaga is an acclaimed actress in her own right so that wouldn't be quite as jarring.

Less than 6 hours now until we learn that Kenobi was the true biological father of the twins! Kenobi played the long game, sacrificing everything so that Vader and Luke would think they are father and son. Huge plot twist! [face_laugh]

Does anyone know if Kenobi will have a hard copy of some sort? I would love to own it at some point.

Seeing as no other Disney+ Star Wars shows received one, I doubt it. Which is a shame, because I'd love to have a disc to place between the prequels and Rogue One on my shelves.

Loved the series - yes, I had my criticisms and questions about certain choices, and still do, but overall, was SUPER happy with it.

Put up an embarrassingly LONG post in the Ep 6 thread so I will uncharacteristically restrain myself here but LOVED the finale, was off the charts crazy over the Obi-Wan/Vader rematch, and overall very happy with the conclusion, the cameos, the "wrap up". Wow. Overall, it really did feel like an Obi-Wan movie to me. Super happy that I got to see this.

Like I said, keeping this (VERY) uncharacteristically brief, so broad-brushing it, but... major thumbs up.

I enjoyed the series overall. I would have liked a little more from the finale but I thought the confrontation was really well done, and loved Hayden's performance as well as Ewan's. It was great seeing them again.

Even though I liked the series overall, there are times I could tell it they were more on a TV budget in the middle episodes (shaky cam and alien designs mostly).

What do you want to see in season 2? Maul? Quinlan? Clone Wars flashbacks?

Here's my idea for season 2. As you can see, I've thought about it quite a bit:

    Episode 1
An Imperial pilot crash lands on Tatooine. The wandering Obi-wan comes by and helps him journey back to civilization. During their long walk back, Obi-wan hears the pilot's patriotic thoughts on the Empire, the rules he lives by, and his disdain for turncoats. At the same time we're treated to Clone Wars flashbacks, with Obi-wan and Clone Troopers, the same one who we eventually see turn on Obi-wan, seemingly following orders like sheep. Along the way, Obi-wan starts to recognize the similarities between himself and the loyal troopers following orders blindly. Obi-wan nurses the trooper back to health briefly at his home (from ANH) before urging him to get a move on and leave. At the end, a woman arrives at Obi-wan's home, and they kiss. She has a child with her.

    Episode 2
We flash back to Obi-wan on Bespin meeting Quinlan through the path. Obi-wan learns of Quinlan's relationship with Ventress, making Obi-wan question why he's still sticking to the code, depriving himself of love and family, thinking back to his experience with Leia and the Organas, and Luke and the Lars family. Does he actually agree with every rule he was raised by, or is he just following blindly? Back on Tatooine, Obi-wan meets someone at the cantina and Obi-wan decides to go with it (keeping his Jedi identity a secret still). We montage through their developing relationship, even getting a house together. In the present, Ghost Qui-Gon questions Obi-wan's actions, and Obi-wan explains how he's just taking after his master, playing hard and fast with the code. We reveal that Quinlan has dealings with Crimson Dawn and end with a shot of Maul.

    Episode 3
Back in the present, Obi-wan's lady friend feels distance between herself and him (keeping his Jedi past a secret). And so, he starts from the beginning as we flash back to his youngling years, the moment he first left his family, recounting how he first arrived at the temple. We see the every day life of a young Jedi on Coruscant, the daily rituals, the rules, lunch hour, you name it, the imagery reminiscent of the clones on Kamino in AOTC. We see Obi-wan become Qui-Gon's apprentice, and we hear Obi-wan share about his first love Satine, and how she was killed. Upon hearing his stories, she's in utter disbelief, but instead of feeling betrayed, she questions why Obi-wan doesn't seek out his real family now, and so Obi-wan does, while she watches over Luke.

    Episode 4
Obi-wan visits his homeworld, tracking down his elderly parents, and his brother, whose name is Ben. They explain how they gave him away to the Jedi Order as they believed he would have a better life. Obi-wan's not sure if it was.

Meanwhile, Quinlan has dealings with Crimson Dawn. He enlists the help of fellow Jedi Cal Kestis who's recently found the path. But they're both captured and duel with Maul. Cal is killed, but before killing Quinlan, Maul senses that he recently had dealings with Kenobiiiiiiiii, and so he starts torturing him on Dathomir, to draw out Obi-wan.

    Episode 5
We see Dark Disciple brought to life, Quinlan and Ventress's relationship. But the memory starts fading, warping, happening different to how readers may remember. Quinlan wakes up to see Maul with his hand on his head, pleased to see that it's working. Obi-wan arrives on Dathomir and comes to Quinlan's aid, and Maul kills Quinlan, having served his purpose. Maul then defeats Obi-wan, and starts torturing his mind as well. Just as Maul's mind went haywire after TPM, he means to do the same to Obi-wan (accounting for Obi-wan's wonky memory from here on out).

But during the torture, Qui-Gon appears to Obi-wan, startling Maul, giving Obi-wan enough strength to break free, damage Maul's legs, and get the hell outta there, escaping the forces of Crimson Dawn.

But upon returning to Tatooine, Obi-wan finds his home broken into and his family missing. Obi-wan finally feels the overwhelming fear of loss that Anakin did.

    Episode 6
Obi-wan realizes it's Tusken Raiders who took his family, and he tracks them down. Luckily, his family is alive, and he rescues them. After ensuring their safety, Obi-wan takes his lightsaber and heads back out there in anger, tempted to destroy the threat (and strike back the same way Anakin did), but upon seeing their reaction to his blue saber, he senses that this has happened to them before. Like Luke seeing the hand of Vader, Obi-wan sees the road he cannot allow himself to go down as well. By actually feeling first hand why the rule exists, he's able to more clearly choose to continue his life the way he was before, free of attachment, and so, he returns home and has a talk with his family, bringing their time playing house to an end.

Obi-wan receives a call on his communication device. He's not even sure what it is. It's a friendly call from Bail and Leia, but sadly, Obi-wan cannot remember who they are (thus why Leia has to remind him in ANH). He has flashes, but they're fading.

When Qui-Gon expresses his condolences for Obi-wan making this sacrifice, Obi-wan instead expresses only gratitude, for it is because of his Jedi upbringing, because of the Force, that he will always have his real family -- Qui-Gon, who helps Obi-wan focus his mind to rebuild it. Obi-wan continues his daily monastic Jedi rituals ("The Force is with me, and I am one with the Force") with a greater sense of reassurance, standing guard should Maul or Vader ever find Luke, ready for the day to pass his knowledge onto Luke and offer him the opportunity to follow in his own footsteps, but only should he choose to.

In the cantina in Mos Eisley, we see Obi-wan at the bar getting a drink. He notices the man beside him, who, from his dialogue, Obi-wan recognizes to be the patriotic stormtrooper he helped, presumably having deserted the Empire, secretly thinking for himself now.

I feel like a Season 2 should be smaller in scope and have more with Qui-Gon, Reva, perhaps Quinlan, and definitely have Maul involved. No Leia, no Vader and very little, if any interaction with the Empire. Have it be more of an adventure/Indiana Jones vibe.

S2: Maybe some VO training, meeting up with other Jedi on the Path, getting a small rebellion spirit going, and maybe something w/o the Empire. And now that Darth doesn't want Kenobi, he doesn't need to show up again.
