the ship would have had to be on that planet for a while in order to be buried like it seems it is. I'd say at least a century.

then there is the rumor that the planet has been cut off from the rest of the galaxy for some time, in fact, as it said inthe interviews, no one knows where that planet is. so the Republic Credits (whether old just because it's preEmpire or Old because even the republic stopped using them) may be from the kids home world. not left on the ship.

I'm thinking these would be akin to the Gold standard dollar bills the United States used to issue. you can trade in a bill for $1 worth of gold. eventually the credits stopped being backed with real value, and were valued by the market (as is most money today) This is why Watto wouldn't take Republic Credits in TPM. Tattooine was in Hutt Space. outside the republic. Credits backed by, say a precious metal, would still be valued anywhere.

Either way, I'm here for it and can't wait to have some OLD REPUBLIC credits printed lol add to my collection.

The Piratey stuff is already grating as much as the Mods in TBOBF. Have Pirates do contemporary Pirate stuff but please drop all the thinly disguised nods to Peter Pan, Treasure Island, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.

On a different note there is some discussion that the Home Planet may not be as idyllic as portrayed, the fact that no one knows where it is and the ever-watching droids hint at something sinister.

I disagree. Fighting fascism doesn't need to be fun. I'm glad we got a Star Wars story that shows just how difficult it is to stand up to that kind of oppression, and just how brave one has to be to risk their lives doing so. It's a timely message, too, and I'm glad to see that wrapped in Star Wars clothing.

But again, I'm also excited about the goofy fun Skeleton Crew promises.

My feeling is simply that Lucasfilm should resist the gatekeepers, who insist things either need to be fun or grimdark and give us that and everything in between. The only thing I think it needs to maintain is its central morality and a galactic civilization.

it doesn't need to be fun but its already done, Lucasfilm MADE it fun with the OT, Rebels, Mandoverse etc. This isn't the real world is a fun fictional universe. And where there is fun even in War stories. I had fun with TCW, RO too......RO was a fun war movie with a hopeful message/tone.

I'm not gatekeeping, as I mentioned its subjective/personal to each person. My preference is fun, doesn't mean I won't watch any grimdark SW nor will Lucasfilm do what I want anyways but I'm a consumer and watching what they release and produce is part of the process. Doesn't mean I will love everything they make.

although Acolyte was grimdark and that was the worst SW Project ever released and might have killed High Republic in Movies/TV format too. I think if they go back to that era go for a cartoon. So for me so far not impressed whenever it has gone to grimdark tv shows.

after that disaster of a show, I'm glad that we are getting a fun adventure show in Skeleton Crew, even better as its sandwiched between Acolyte and Andor S2.

I hope Jude Law’s character is just a grifter/scoundrel type who is pretending to be a Jedi, as opposed to being an actual Jedi. Then he can have a character arc where the kids grow on him, and he ends up genuinely caring for them. The alternative seems too straightforward IMO.

I'm pretty sure the first teaser showed Law's character using the Force to retrieve some keys or something.

Unless it was buried deliberately, like to hide it.

The fact that the ship is able to function - since I doubt the kids repair it before accidentally turning it on and getting lost - and it jumps to an actively used pirate port suggests it wasn't buried that long ago.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if the treasure on the ship is older, and the big treasure room we see is some long lost treasure that the ship found before being buried and that is why pirates are so interested in it.

How about a scoundrel who isn't a Jedi but uses the Force in his criminality? We have seen several instances where people use the Force but are not aligned to the Jedi or the Sith, there must be several million (out of trillions in the GFFA) who can use the Force to a certain extent.

Hondo is voiced by Winnie the Pooh.[face_laugh]

since I used to watch The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh as a kid, I can never not hear Winnie with Hondo which makes the whole thing more fun tbh.

    Winnie the Pirate!!!!

Wonder if the planet was cut off as the result of the Great Hyperspace Disaster. Maybe kids' hometown is some sort of corporate colony, controlled by droids.

I don't love the space suburbia aesthetic of that planet, but if this rumour is true, I might like better. Or at least understand the point of it.

I wouldn't want earth to ever show up in Star Wars, but the idea of earth kids discovering the Star Wars galaxy is a fun idea. What Star Wars fan hasn't fantasized about going to the Star Wars universe as a kid? This could be a way of having their cake and eating it too. It would make sense for an isolated planet to develop a different aesthetic from the rest of the galaxy. Why not make it more earth like, so you could tell that story without actually canonizing earth?
