Official **Survivor 6: The Amazon** Discussion (no spoilers)

Oh goody, Jenna won.

 

Matthew was so robbed. (no pun intended)

This was my favorite....... until the results.

This had to have been fixed.

 

Lame.

Just lame.

In the end Rob was still swayed by the feminine wiles.

 

No, not Rob! No! He should have won!

Why?

I think it's classic. I knew there was no way Rob would win. Given, I thought he had a better chance of making it to the final two.

But, I'm curious...from all the people who think Rob was the greatest player (which I still can't figure out), do you still feel the same way?

This show is a great example of what's wrong with reality television. I mean, it's one thing to keep the viewers on their toes and have everything not be predictable. It's another thing to edit the show so completely differently than what's really going on that you are blown away when things end up like they do. Reality TV? What's real about it?

 

I really think Matt deserved it more, though I think the crazy act was made up later.

What I really couldn't believe was the 6-1 margin.

 

That is exactly what I mean. 6-1? There was no doubt in my mind that Jenna would not win. The way they edited that was to make us be confused and surprised.

It's cool for the show to be unpredictable, but I don't like to be thrown so off course that the vote doesn't even make sense to me.

BTW...I don't know what happened to Matt, but he is hot. Cleaned up, looking about 20 years younger. Mmmhmm.

 

O.K. I think that was the most disappointing episode of Survivor ever! And I have been watching since season 1 episode 1. What in the world did Jena do to deserve a 6-1 victory? They never did ask the jury during the reunion why they voted like they did. What a terrible ending to a great season.

 

My favorite part was the jet-ski. Wow that was suspenseful!

 

Did anybody else catch the production flaw before the votes were read? While Jeff was getting seated and mic'ed up they were showing a wide angle shot from above of the Jury and the 2 survivors, and the cg (computer graphic) came up and said "Jenna's Family". I looked at my wife, with disbelief, and said, "I can't believe it. That clueless ho is gonna win." Remember, this is the same woman that went NINE days without contributing ANYTHING to the camp/tribe, she just sat around and whined and complained and cried, because she was certain her number was the next to be called.

Of the 2 left, MATT was MUCH more deserving. He did more work. He did his own scheming, without anybody catching on to him (which after watching S: Thailand and Brian Heidek, I think that's very valuable and vary hard to accomplish).

Now that I've seen the finale, let me reorder my favorite Survivors:

1. Thailand
2. Amazon

These are the only 2 I've seen, though I'm working on getting others on tape/dvd.

One last thing. When they do the Ultimate Survivor, where they take the 15 Sole Survivors and one wild card from the runners up and play the game, Jenna will get nowhere.

EDIT: One more last thing: After 39 days in the Amazon, I am severely disturbed at Matt's distinct lack of facial hair. Put me in the Amazon for 39 days and I would look like ZZ Top. Ok ok, maybe not that bad, but I'd be at least as scruffy as Brian Heidek was.

 

Do you really think that all seven people on the jury were so lost and so clueless to Jenna's not deserving to win?

I wholeheartedly believe that they knew EVERYTHING that we did not. They were there. I guarantee you that they (especially Christy) would not have voted for her unless they had a reason.

Blame it on the God-awful editing of the show. We didn't know what was really going on.

 

Yah, when saw that ?Jenna?s Family? family graphic pop up I thought ?Woops they just ruined it and the airhead is going to win.? Someone at CBS is probably jobless tonight over that little mistake.

Wow, that sucked.

One of the best seasons ruined by a person winning who had just two days befor begged to be voted off.

This is seriously the first time I have been completely surprised by the winner.

The only reason that I think Jenna got all the votes is because everyone thought that Matt made the finals because of Rob.

 

The producers of Survivor took a lot of cheep shots over the ending of the Outback season where they did the same thing with a helicopter. So I took the jet-ski thing as them poking fun at themselves. Especially when Jeff was on the subway.

 

I really wanted Matt to win. Jenna's house is about 20 minutes from where I live, eggs anyone?

 

Doesn't that just piss you off? I'm not surprised that Jenna got Heidi and Alex's votes, but I want to know what the rest of the jury saw in her. Matt gave up his chance to see his mother so that everyone else could see their relatives; who thinks Jenna would've done the same thing? I still can't believe Cristy voted for Jenna. Interesting that Rob voted for Jenna also considering Matt did help him out some towards the end and even took him along for the BBQ reward he won. This was a great season up until the end. I agree with the previous post that the show should have been edited differently because the final result made no sense. Matt caught more fish, did more work around camp, didn't act like a snobby princess, and answered the jury's questions better.

I thought the reunion show was horrible. They talked about topics that'd already been discussed to death and not about why the jury voted the way they did. Butch and Roger didn't get to speak. Alex and Shawna couldn't shut up.

 

I'll overnight UPS them to you!

 

I'm going to make a feeble attempt to analyze the jury's voting:

Alex: voted for one of his princesses, and probably is jealous of Matt for figuring out how to make it to the final 2 without Rob getting rid of him first.

Dave: voted for his love interest on the island. Nevermind what he said before the jury questions. It was as simple as that.

Heidi: voted for her fellow princess in Alexdom. No further analysis needed.

Deena: Alpha female, feminazi, he-woman man hater, whatever you want to call it. No way would she have voted for a guy. ANY GUY.

Christy: This is the hardest part of the whole season to figure out. That and her indecisiveness when trying to determine whether to vote out Jenna or Rob, causing Rob to set in motion his plan that ousted her. I think when it came down to it, she voted for the female also. That and Matt never took time (or had time) to get to know her. I'm disappointed in her.

Rob: Feels that Matt got to the final 2 because of him. (Yet fails to realize Jenna got there even more because of him.) Refuses to accept that Matt outplayed him. Jenna gets his vote by default..... and her looks.

Butch: Voted for who was more deserving. Who played the game better. Who did more work. And who contributed the most while he was there.

 

I disagree with what moon said about Deena, I believe she would have voted for Robb before Jenna.. She appreciates the playing of the game more than just being a women..

Onto that I still beleive that Rob played the best and if he had gotten to the final 2 he would have won.

I'm also disapointed that Rob didn't get to the final two, for the soal reason of the questions from the jury would have been SOOOO much more interesting.

 

I demand a re-edit!

Yep, they sure threw everyone for a loop there.

Hopefully they'll finally release a season on DVD with some extra footage that might help clue us in as to what we missed. Especially the parts they blurred out at the first individual immunity challenge.

 

Was looking over the Official site and noticed the "Survivor Insider: See Never Before Seen Footage!" link. Anyone here a subsriber? Just wondering if anything there would shed anymore light on why Jenna so dominated the voting.

 

I was just looking at some Survivor message boards, and everyone on them seems to agree that Jenna won out of sympathy for her mother who had cancer and the bills they need to pay. That would make sense after that comment Jenna made during the jury questioning about needing the money more. I still don?t think she should have won, but I think that reasoning brings closure to the season.

 

Good point about Jenna's mother. They really didn't play it up on the show but it makes sense.

MoonTheLoon makes a lot of good points. I always felt the same way about Deena and am glad I'm not the only one.

Wasn't it funny when Heidi asked her question "Who among the jury is most deserving to be in the final 2?" and both Jenna and Matt said Rob? Heidi so obviously wanted one of them to say her that she even asked "Anybody else?" when they'd finished.

The Jury is ultimately a popularity contest and it's no secret that Matt didn't fit in very well. If you don't know a person, you're more likely to resent his/her success, especially if it comes at your expense. For that reason, I'm sure there was some resentment towards Matt for getting as far as he did. Alex (does anyone else find his facial expressions annoying?), Heidi and Deena would have been more loyal to Jenna for the reasons MoonTheLoon wrote. Dave got to spend a night with Jenna; I think he'd made his mind up before the last tribal council considering Jenna didn't even answer his question. I'm still a little surprised by Rob, who seemed to resent anyone more charasmatic or better looking than himself, and Christy who got a lot more sympathy from Matt than Jenna.

 

Worst survivor ever!!! Jenna did absolutely nothing...she did nothing to earn it...it had to be rigged! A perfectly good season ruined... Oh well Outback is still the best IMO.
