Hmm. What I've always wondered if regards to Ahsoka and Barriss's apparent friendship, is whether Luminara actually aproved of it. Granted, she most likely thought that it was good for Barriss to have a friend, but perhaps she didn't want Barriss to become to attached to Ahsoka? For whatever reason, I always felt like she was way more strict then Anakin ( Well, most Masters are probably more strict then Anakin) and most likely did aprove of their friendship, provided they didn't get too attached to each other and understood that they were at war; and the other might die at any point. I bet Luminara stressed how to let go of attachments to Barriss at some point.

It's more of a theory then anything I guess. But what do you guys think?

I never saw any romantic subtext between Barriss and Ahsoka. Hell, I never saw any more than two co-workers having a conversation over a meal.

The best part of that episode to me was the advice Anakin gave Ahsoka after she woke up. I liked that he said, yeah, I get why you couldn't kill her, even though she asked. It's OK, no judgment there.

Yeah, I'm not really sure why someone/some people seem to think there was romance between Barriss and Ahsoka. They were just two Jedi on a mission, friends. Obi-Wan and Anakin were together a lot and Obi-Wan had Anakin's lightsaber at one point, does that mean there was romance between them? Not at all!

Everyone looks at things differently. It's no big deal.

Anyway I agree with you anakinfansince1983 on how Anakin addressed what happened when Ahsoka explained she couldn't kill Barriss. Anakin was just so...calm about it I guess? And you know, like you said; he didn't judge or question what she did. I thought that it helped her come to terms with it better.

One of the writers for the episode admitted that they put intentional subtext between Ahsoka and Barriss. Giancarlo Volpe. And they were surprised they got away with it. Here's the link if you are interested, and beware: Barrisoka cuteness. Also, I'm not trying to start an argument or anything. Just something that I found elsewhere that was interesting.

As has been mentioned, the director of the episode did push for romantic subtext between the two. That said, does what we saw in the episode definitively mean they had a romance? Of course not, but it's up for interpretation. They hold hands, they go through a near-death experience together, etc. - they have a closeness that could be seen as romantic or platonic depending on who you ask. If one of them had been male, I'm sure a lot more people would be reading more into their relationship given how they act in that episode.

(And of course, some people would disagree with you about Anakin and Obi-Wan as well...:p)

That's why they call it subtext.

Barisoka is still better than Anisoka and Luxsoka.

The writers really wanted that ship to happen. You could tell by those geonosis epsiodes.

I kind of wish that they had more episodes together. To explore their friendship at least, and so the whole 'Barriss betrayed Ahsoka thing' didn't seem forced. Especially since she went from 'perfect padawan' to 'oh hey, I blew up a Jedi Temple.'.

Getting to see some episodes from Barriss's point of view would have been nice as well. And what she thought on the war. Hmm. I guess they were trying to mirrow Anakin's eventualy betrayal and how he turned against Obi-Wan.

Preach it. Anisoka is unrivaled in it's ability to make me want to vomit. Just...no!
Whereas Luxsoka just has extremely annoying supporters, and that kid is a kriffing idiot.

I'm telling you guys. "The Right Jedi, or: How Barriss Offee went bat**** crazy". Written by Matthew Stover.

Maybe the arch could have ended with her knighting ceremony. Because she wasn't a Padawan in the season final anymore.

Maybe an arc for season 7 or so was planned, as an in-between thing.

That would have been nice. I wonder if Ahsoka would feel frustrated that Barriss was knighted so quickly? I mean, in times of war they kind of push command and promote people quickly; because of all the dying. Not saying this is the case with the Jedi; but it would be interesting to see what Ahsoka would have felt. I'm sure she would have been happy, but you know; that's not the only thing you can feel when people get higher ranks then you.

Seriously though. Stover is the best at writing Jedi who lose it.

Lux wouldn't know what a proper relationship was if it hit him with a speeder. He's a lost cause. I mean, what kind of guy brings a girl he likes to a hostile ice planet that is filled with death watch members? Does that sound like a good date to you?

    Kablob

    That's the perfect cover.

I was thinking more along the lines of "How The Grinch Stole Christmas'" cover. It seems fititng for some reason.

The second part wasn't a serious part of the title. :p

But really though. Book showing Barriss' side of the story, call it The Right Jedi, have Stover write it.

TheSilentInfluence : Lux knowing a proper relationship wasn't important. Only looking like Justin Bieber is important.

I don't understand why people like Justin Beiber. :/

Well, Lux wasn't the smartest fish in the sea; that's for sure.
