Unless your telling them to Cut Lawquane that is. He might think you mean his wife and you don't talk about a brotha's wife that way.

Do anyone know which Wolfpack is based on? Is that some real WW2 military unit or something?

I did watch Sharpe's Battle last night- napoleonic war/adventure film and I find it interesting that bad guy there Guy Loup(Loup=Wolf)- leader of the french "Wolf Brigade" had only one good eye just like Wolffe [image=http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/6859/guyloupru1.jpg]

Could it be that there is no connection between these things and it's just funny coincidence?..... Maybe- but this means strange rule in fiction: if military unit is named after Wolf it seems to have one-eyed commander[face_hypnotized]

Too bad they used the same name but TCW-Blixus is actually quite cute[face_love] classic monsterbug from the Outer Space[face_laugh] -that parrotthing looks boring but why to use same name of they change the design? That's beyond me...

Considering how obsessed Filoni is with wolves, it's probably a coincidence. :p Nice observation, though.

However, the clones overall seem to be sci-fantasy counterparts of the Ottoman Empire's Janissaries and the Egyptian Sultanates' Mamluk warriors. The whole concept of importing slave boys from abroad and training them up to become hardass warriors reminds me of the clone troopers.

Ironically, the Janissaries became so politically powerful that the Ottoman Emperor had to execute Order 66 on them with his Sipahi soldiers...

    Was GL inspired? [face_thinking]

Even more so when one recalls that with Wolffe's first appearance with getting the bad eye, in the In Service of the Republic comic arc, his gauged-out eye was his left one.

Its out there but Wolffe's eye reminds me of the Dacia Wolf from Wolf's Rain.

General James Wolfe, the British commander who captured Quebec City?

The guy who, outside of Canada, was overshadowed in the painting of his own death by a thoughtful Native American warrior? [face_thinking]

If I'd retained any artistic skill, I'd have done The Death of Commander Wolffe, in the style of the iconic Clone Wars-era masterpiece Grievous Crosses the Delaware. :p

Very interesting about those Janissaries. Especially that they were taken away from their families and kept apart from most of society. They do sound similar to the Jedi in several aspects.

Most of the events portrayed in the image of Wolfe's death were either exaggerated or entirely fabricated, the foremost historical fabrication being the thoughtful native.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but it's from Dave Filoni's Facebook page (I'll remove the stuff that doesn't matter):

I have to say that he makes a good point about Grievous.

Filoni is completely missing the point about Grievous, as is Lucas, apparently.

So Obi-Wan is in for a rough ride? Totally called it.

No matter what Filoni tries to say Grievous has became a clown in TCW- he cannot match even gungans..... seriously Dave that's not in line with movies where gungans didn't match even battle droids..... so technically bd:s could win Grievous[face_thinking] Maybe they rebel later on.....

Are you really using that as an argument? Grievous defeat by the gungans was at least protrayed in a believable way. Unexpected stab, and then defeated after being extremely injured. How does that make him a clown?

Funny how whenever something's overpowered, devs always think the only possible course of action in regards to fixing it, is to make it completely obsolete.

That was the last drop- he has been beaten up so many times before so seeing non-jedi beating him felt so bad.... Anakin also was embarassed in that episode..... And why GG took Adi alive- that was never explained?

    [face_laugh] LOL

Gah, just because Grievous isn't as powerful as a Jedi doesn't mean he has to fail at everything he does. If he's a joke to the Jedi, why waste so much time hunting him? With his personality the way it is in TCW the Jedi should just wait for him to kill himself while twirling his lightsabers.

Whilst I am happy about more Obi-Wan, I am nervous about what they are doing with him.

Grievous getting beaten by Gungans pretty much proved to me that Separatists can't be badass. [face_laugh]

At this point I'm sick of Grievous dueling Jedi. He never wins and the whole four-bladed combat thing has pretty much worn off. Let's see him use all that tactical genius he supposedly has by showing him as a fleet commander.

If they did that, then at some point he'd have to either be captured or run away so that the good guys can continue their epic winstreak.

Give it to 'em, Dave! [face_pumpkin]

Seriously though, not that I expect anyone to agree with me, but that stuff about Darth Maul and the Sith sounds promising.
