That may be true if you've never seen any special effects before. Besides, I don't think it is superimposed anyway, as he's shorter. Shaw had a good half a feet over Guiness (which made sense, he was Vader after all), whereas Hayden is only a hair above.

The official site acknowledges it's just a head replacement. It's in the "what has changed?" article for Jedi.
If you look at the comparison, you can see its the same body.

Well it's definitely not just a head replacement. Sure the robe itself is the same, but the body has been resized to be smaller. The top of Guiness' head lines up with Shaw's forehead (who even has his titled slightly), now it lines up with the very top of Hayden's hair. The width of the body at the bottom of the V of their robes is different, and Hayden's also obscuring less of the background to his right.

    Right on.

I'm not a fan of Lucas making changes to the OT, but if he wanted to mess around with Phantom Menace in a few parts I'd love it if he'd get rid of all mention of midichlorians. Take out that scene where Qui Gon explains it, then dub over the other talk of midichlorians with something else.

Then why is Luke special? There must be other Force-sensitives out in the GFFA who the Jedi could use to fight a war against the Empire.

Midichlorians are the reason the Skywalker line is strong in the Force.

You can come up with any reason for them being strong in the Force that doesn't involve some bugs in their blood. Heck, just saying they are "strong in the Force" is enough. Trying to give it an explanation like midichlorians seemed too Star Trekkish.

    They're just like mitochondria, though.

If you cut out the midis, you lose a treasure trove of themes.

They're necessary to draw parallels between the decisions of people and the decisions of government, not to mention the other ideas present throughout the film (like symbiosis).

    He's a gifted boy

    zzzzzzzzzz

Midichlorians are the reason the Skywalker line is strong in the Force.

None of this occured between 1977-1983

In fact it is a statistical certainty. However:"That boy is our last hope."
    Why?
    Midichlorians.

Holy...wow. I have never read better ideas pertaining to the Force and the Midichlorians than what I see in that thread. Bravo.

I'm thinking about reviving it. Discussions about power can lead to some interesting places.[face_dancing]

If Hayden is just a head replacement it's a darn good one. It looks like the whole body to me.

They may have changed his height, but he was not wearing that outfit when it was filmed. The head came from a wardrobe test.

Yeah the head replacement is very realistic and convincing. If Bugs Bunny got the same treatment we wouldn't be complaining.
