I'm not so sure when he's gonna die now, after what McCallum said. His role is going to be bigger in Ep3, which means he's gonna have more screen time. I think he may die later in the movie... probably towards the end.

I posted this in another thread, but I'll post it here too....

Mace understands the importance of the prophecy, and returning balance to the Force. It is a cause greater than himself, and he knows it.

I think the "Mace is a traitor" people will be confused as to what to believe.

I think Mace will kill Dooku, then give his life to save Anakin. At the time, Mace will seem like a traitor, but in the long run he will end up saving the galaxy from the dark side, for without Anakin, there cannot be balance in the Force.

That's a very interesting theory. Having Mace save Anakin somehow even though he becomes evil and turns to the dark side.

    I like it! :D

Exactly. I think Mace will be viewed as a traitor for years to come, maybe even by Anakin himself.

But then comes Luke, and we realize that without Mace saving Anakin, the galaxy would still be under the veil of the dark side.

So Mace turns out to be one of the biggest heros of them all.

That's completely untrue. Mace will never
do any such thing. Mace is a good guy who
is always going to stick to the code. If what your saying ever comes to pass it would
probably mean Lucas lost his mind. Sidious
will rescue Vader after Obi-Wan "mails him his shorts".

What if a Jedi is ordered to kill the son and daughter of anakin, and Mace refuses and helps them escape, to his peril, he will be viewed as a traitor, but as we will see, he is redeemed in the end!

just an idea, I think mace has his own agenda with dooku, but gets tricked, and dies trying to make amens

Seems to me that part of the success of ATOC was the Yoda fight - it's what everyone was talking about and what got a slew of non-SW fans in the theater.
Lucas has got to be planning some similar stunts for E3.
I say seeing Sidious duel Yoda and seeing a suit-identifiable Vader duel Mace would be quite the water-cooler igniter.

Maybe Mace is the twins personal protector for the last bit of the movie.......

Maybe he dies taking on Vader

Maybe he and Dooku kill each other

    so many possiblities........

Do you know what would shock me the most, and would get me excited?

Palpatine walks into the balcony reserved for him, and he tells one of his aides to save the seat next to him for a guest. Then they talk for a bit, and Palpy gets a communication saying he's here, and guess who comes in and sits next to him!

    Not Anakin
    Not Vader
    Not Dooku

    But Mace Windu!!!!

This is how we see him as a traitor, and then he learns that Palpatine has no use for him, and he lied to Mace about being his apprentice. (Beliving Yoda is out of touch, Mace wanted to train under the Dark Lord)

Then Mace threatens to inform the Jedi Council of his alter-ego Sidious, and Mace leaves.

Then we see Palpatine contact somone and says, he must not be alowed to inform the council, and we see, Mace being followed to the temple, by a figure in black with faint breathing sounds...

And inter-cut with shots of Palpatine watching the performance, we see Mace in a duel to the death in the main chamber of the Jedi Temple with DARTH VADER.

When Mace dies, we see Palpatine stand up and applaude the performers. Then gets a message, "it is done my master..." to which Palpatine replys, "now wipe out the Jedi, none must remain!"

And we see a dramatic montage of the jedi being destroyed, and the Temple collapsing!

Hey its an idea, so dont flame me! It could take place near the end of the film about the end of the 3rd Quarter...

    Mace isn't a traitor dammit!

I just don't get where all this traitor BS is coming from? Where in the entire PT has he ever done something to even remotely make him look like a bad guy?

I don't like to play the race card, but i really wonder if Mace Windu would have gotten this traitor crap thrown at him, if he was played by a white guy.

Also, if you want to discuss Mace/Traitor theories, take it to the
*OFFICIAL THREAD* Is Mace a Traitor? thread.

I'm not saying he is, allthough I think it would provide the surprise factor, and I personally hope he is a traitor, it makes his character more important, and Mace is like a maverick, with his own colour lightsabre, and different opinions to Yoda.

These are the two leaders of the council, to have someone that close to Yoda, turn out to be a traitor, would make good cinema.

The theory on the link you provided, is brilliant, but I would rather believe, that Dooku and Mace are both fighting each other to be the Apprentice, hence the way they talk to each other when fighting in EP2...

I know many of you have a fatal allergy to anything EU, but read Shatterpoint. I read it myself and I think Mace will definately die in either a blaze of glory, or saving Anakin. Since I sincerely doubt you'll have an open mind and read the book, I'll show you what I mean:

    Shatterpoint, page 406

As long as Anakin lives, we have hope. No matter how dark it gets, or how lost our cause may seem.
He is our new hope for a Jedi future
May the Force be with us all.

Mace is no traitor. I personaly think he might discover who Palpatine is and rush off to face him. Palpatines friend Anakin will most likely be in the office when Mace arrives. I think Anakin will defend his pal and kill Mace. Then there is no turning back. Just my opinion but it would work.

Mace Windu is no traitor. As I have posted in the past on various sites and places theres no way a Jedi Master whos 2nd to Yoda, one of the heads of The Jedi Council whos Very Good friends with Master Yoda and is going to die with glory is or ever was a Traitor. Lando was a gambler, its plausible for him to be a traitor because he was not a Jedi and did not have a Jedi additude. Lando cared about his own skin. If he had not sided with The Empire they would have killed him but Mace would rather die then betray anybody. He prooved that in the arena in AOTC when he told Dooku he would not let himself or The other Jedi be Dookus hostages.

I wish George could hear all these people saying Mace is a traitor. Sheesh.

Hear me now and believe me later, Mace will earn the respect he deserves in Ep3.

But he always been badass anyway.

Heroic death for Mace....Lucas could have cooked up anything, but it will still be heroic.

The Mace is a traitor people are quite laughable.

Like Sam Jackson would let Lucas make him a bad guy all of a sudden. Keep deaming people.

I like the idea of Mace revealing an unabridged version the prophecy in TPM.

Pretend, for example, that Darth Vader is reeking havok on the Jedi Temple extincting all the Jedi. It would be easy to imagine that Darth is hellbent on finding a certain Jedi: Obi Wan. Old Ben, however, has a notion to escape with young Luke. Now, let's say that good old Mace jumps in to hold Darth Vader at bay while Obi-Wan and Luke make their escape. The memorable role for Mace would come during a duel when Mace explains to Vader that the prophecy refers to Luke and not Anakin afterall. Then, after Darth procedes to cut Mace into bits, he pauses in a moment of conflicted contemplation, and proceeds to let Obi-Wan and Luke escape. Darth is, afterall, mostly evil, with a chance of good. After he kills Mace, Darth believes that Obi-Wan is the last remaining Jedi.

I know these ideas are re-hashed, but I think they would add alot to the story.
