The message I'm getting from reading around the 3SA is that Utapau is another planet for Episode III.

Planets of Episode III and their purposes:

• Coruscant - Space Battle, Sid/Ani vs Windu, etc


• Naboo - Obi-Wan vs Double G


• Kashyyyk - Wookiee homeworld; where the Clonies first turn on the Jedi


• Mustafar - Lava planet; Final Duel location


• Dagobah - Yoda deliberatley hides here


• Alderaan - Leia is handed over to Bail Organa here (Twins born here?)


• Tatooine - Obi-Wan delivers Luke to the Lars' and hides here

So where does Utapau fit into all of this?

I thought the purpose of Kashyyyk was the opening space battle, as published sources have confirmed that the opening battle of the movie will be over a never-before seen world. Don't get me wrong though, there might be a battle over Coruscant, too, but during the climax of the movie.

Well almost everyone seems to think Naboo will be included-I'm not doubting them, I just wanted to know who/what confirmed it.

I definately think Alderaan ought to be included, after all the work that's been put into it; I did not find Naboo boring though, and think that it's important for Palps and Padme to have a separate homeworld than the Royal Family of Alderaan/Leia's roots.

There will not be any wookiees related to Chewbacca (i.e. "Holiday Special" family) . All wookiees are supporting characters and only Chewbacca has a name. -PH

Well, I guess that confirms what I pointed out before, that Kashyyyk is 1) the first planet to be seen and 2) the location of the opening space battle.

What info do we have on Utapau and Mustafar? Climate, environment? Native races? Core Worlds, Outer Rim, anything?

Wow! I mean thats alot. He said as of this moment there are 11 planets in Episode 3.
Lets us discuss viligently.
The only ones officially named as being in Ep 3 are Coruscant and Tatooine I believe.
Here's what i emailed to y friends, so if its "spoiler lite", im sorry.As far as us collective geeks can guess, theyll be...
1.Coruscant...Beginning space battle takes place over this planet, Large ship crashes into planet. We know we'll see Palpy's office, and his maneuvers here again, also will see Jedi temple again.
2.Tatooine...We believe last shot is Obi-Wan taking Luke here.
3.Alderaan... We know that Bail Organa is much more of a main character in this, and we may see Leia delivered here.
4.Kashyyyk... Wookiee home planet. We know that Chewie is in it, and that there are also many other wookies. the official site hints that this is where Yoda is when the clones turn on the Jedi.
5. Naboo... We strongly believe a grim observance happens on this planet... I wont say what.
6.Utapau... Supposedly a "sinkhole" planet, where Obi Wan fights a battle against the new bad guy " General Grievous" while riding on some beast. There is also some "monster" on this planet.
7. Mustafar... The volcano/lava planet of legend. You know what happens here.A Seperatist secret base is also supposedly here.
8. Dagobah....Will we see Yoda actually land, or just maybe use an escape pod to get there?
9.,10.,11. We know that Ki- Adi mundi and Plo Koon are sent on some special mission, and that there is a montage of shots when the clones turn on the jedi, but no other details of what these planets are like.

10&11: Clone Wars planets, or maybe one of them is an emergency stop to repair Vader since he might not make it the long ride back to Coruscant. Maybe Corellia or Kessel?

 

It's quite possible the gray alien planet is Utapau. I wouldn't count them as separate.

 

Hyperspace didn't seem to describe them as the classic ufo alien type, so I put them down separately. They said they were stangely shaped, obsidian eyes, ashen complexion and unususual features.

 

That was the description he used for Spence's character on one of the set diaries.

 

Aside from the fact that it has been confirmed so, Kashyyyk being the first planet to be seen is consistent with a different planet being the first planet to be seen in each of the movies.

 

Why do you think Kashyyyk is the first planet seen? Doesnt the space fight happen over Coruscant?
Ive always imagined bruce Spence's race as being a completely seperate planet from utuapau

I TOTALLY AGREE THAT THERE WILL BE A SPACE BATTLE OVER CORUSCANT.

I think Episode III will differ from all the other Star Wars movies in that it will have two battles. It's already been confirmed to have way more fighting than any of the other movies.

Published sources say, "The opening five to ten minutes of the film is understood to be a climactic battle of the Clone Wars over a never-before-seen planet."

I believe the Battle of Kashyyyk will be a space/land battle whereas the space/sky Battle of Coruscant will occur as the climax of the movie. I think it makes sense to have a battle occuring over Coruscant and it is very symbolic to do so, during the film's climax, not at its beginning.

 

Why the ... some people expect Obi vs. GG duel to happen on Naboo? Where does this idea come from? From the set diaries and webchats it's quite apparent that it will happen on rocky, sinkholes planet with caves and large transport animals (most likely to be Utapau), where probably Bruce Spence's people live. naboo will just be tle place of Padme's funeral ceremony.

The Battle is NOT over ANY planet at the start of Episode 3, the TF Cruiser had already gotten pretty far away from the capital, remember what makes this space battle unique is because it is NOT a single battle but a series of events taking place on a journey, as stated by OS, and will also have special visual effects, like supernovas and nebulas.
Then there is also the battles of Kashykk, Utapau, and many other planets

I believe Alderaan could be (as it has probably been mentioned many times on these formus) close to the form in wihcih it appears at the McCQuarrie concept artworks - windy plains with some kind of steppes and savannahs and cities remainding sth halfway between styles of Bespin and Naboo.

 

I thought Mon Calmari could be involved, we see severa Mon Calmarians and also doesn't the ship crash in water? or did they change that to ship fuel or whatever?

 

It very interesting to see how this thread has changed over time.

Mon Calamari. I just believe that we will see where the Admiral comes from and why.
