I'm going to own this just for historical purposes. I'm still going to watch the 2004 Editions.

Actually, I better not hear a single damn complaint any freaking longer about the Original Trilogy anymore.

He finally gave in. Now, it's over. Let it be and let's enjoy the Star Wars Saga, in what ever way you want.

Wow. This is like the day world war two ended or something. Everyone can be happy now, the hate and fighting is over and all those poor people doing complicated fan-restoration projects have had their hours of work nullified :p . I guess the world can resume spinning now.

Maybe the GL-hate will taper down.

Well, there goes my skepticism out the window. :p

This is certainly great news! Though I own laserdisc versions of the O-Ot on widescreen, I'll certainly buy this release. Then I can get rid of my LD player. :p

I notice that each release will include the 2004 edition. I wonder if that will make the "attractive price" about double what a normal dvd release costs. ;)

I totally agree, now we can enjoy SW the way we want it. Welcome to Lucas's world of changing his mind. This is the first time it benefitted me!

The question is, how unaltered are these editions? Will the transfer match the 2004 editions or will be worse? Will Lightsabers be fixed or no?

The 1977 STAR WARS and the 1980 EMPIRE and the 1983 JEDI to be released on DVD with the 2004 versions. I'm pleased and not surprised. :D

Hey, George, if it's not asking too much, I'm still waiting for the Holiday Special!

    Me too.

I'm very glad about that. I highly doubt I'll be buying any of them, though there is a small chance I'll buy ROTJ original, so I wouldn't have to suffer the painful Hayden scene.

Well it looks like MeBeJedi can stop making his own O-OT dvd now.

Its not the first time Lucas has changed his mind.

I won't be buying it though. Not gonna give Lucas any more of my money.

I would rather not have to buy the Special Editions again, but it will still be worth it. Too bad they couldn't have thrown in the original "Making of" TV specials as bonus material. Oh, well....

George probably got tired of bootleggers making a small fortune with laserdisc transfers. Can't say I blame him.

    Great news!

Forget Han shooting first, I am looking forward more to the original monkey eyed granny making her return as The Emperor, classic Boba's voice, the corney and dated special effects, Anakin's original ghost, no jawas falling off rontos, dancing singing testicles or Han stepping on Jabba's tail, and LAPTI NEK!

    Du dudududu du dudu dudu

    Feel my body growing
    My bones have started glowing
The time has come for showing
That I'll shape you up and work you out
    Lapti Nek
You've got to move your soul
You've got to feel the heat
    My body feels excitin'
    My soul is sythisizin'
    My whole frame is jumpin'
I'm workin' out and havin' fun
    Lapti Nek
Gotta move your body, Gotta move your feet
    Lapti Nek
Gotta move your feet as you walk the street
    Lapti Nek...
    Laptinek!! (Work it out)

Damn that song was catchy. I hope they include the MTV music video that came with it.

NOW will you guys be happy? :p

    See the title crawl to Star Wars before it was known as Episode IV;

HA! Lucas loves me! I said exactly this if he should release them unaltered :p

Damn... now I should get this just as testimate to my own bit of whining about O-OT lovers :p

But... I also already have them...

Wait! Does that mean Lucas will also release the unaltered AotC, TPM, and... well I guess RotS is pretty unaltered.

    =D=

Couldn't have been said any better!

I'm glad to hear this, mainly so we can move on with this. I am a fan of the SE and the sequencial versions, but it will be nice to sit down and spend an evening watching this and be completely taken in by nostalgia. I'll deffinitely enjoy that. :D

But there's surely something to be said for GL doing one for the fans. Here here, George [face_martini]
