    @The2ndQuest
    I've read the comics based on that outline but not heard the audio drama. Will have to find it, sounds interesting.

    @bstnsx704
    Yeah I just head-cannon that Hive World was where the Engineers first made the Xenos, (oil made on LV-223 and tested or something on "Hive World"). However I know we disagree on the origins of the aliens to begin with :p [face_peace]

    I love that the RPG incorporates elements from the earlier screenplay, including the "Soviets in Space" and the wooden planet.

    Aye, the Gibson stuff is used to excellent effect in there. Didn't know the Ward stuff was in there too but that is very exciting to hear.

    It's the 'moon' Arceon mentioned in the Main Rulebook - there's an entry for it as well there, discussing what their deal was.

    Our gaming group has a Halloween tradition to play an 'off' game, and I'm going with Aliens. Torn between doing one of the published adventures, or make up one.

    The was on old Darkhorse comic called Alchemy, similar plot to newer book Phalanx. In Alchemy on a colony ship the adults died of some unknown disease so it's just a Synth nanny and a lot of kids. Fast forward two generations and the whole population runs on steam power and don't know anything about Earth, space travel, ect. Of course there's some alien eggs onboard their old ship which crashed or something and the hero has to fight one with blade weapons and crossbows. That would be a neat RPG scenario but technically/realistically hard to survive.

    Edit-
    I need to come up with an acronym or something for 'there's an old Darkhorse comic where...' cuz I post it so damn much lol

    Played more Alien Trilogy for ps one. I was stuck on level 2, then I googled a level skip cheat. It's one of the great cheats ever. Igotpinkacidbootson. It gives you a level skip and access to all the weapons. Which you need as this game is hard. Great Doom like game, highly recommended if you like Aliens. They need to do a remake.

    The death cut scenes are really fun. Spent more time than I want to admit playing that in 8th grade when it was new.

    Those two pages were the most intetesting two pages in the entire six issue run (from a writing standpoint, that is. The "art" [I use the word "art" loosely when it comes to Larroca] was garbage as usual).

    The rest of the issue's writing was as janky as the writing in the first five issues. I'd be pretty intrigued to see those two pages of note explored more in a better comic though.

    Yah I loved the connection to Alien: Resurrection synths and there's that dang Xeno mural again. So maybe the synthetic ban happened because they unleashed the Xenos, probability that they find a stash of pathogen which leads to problems.

    I read all 5 issues rather close together, the most memorable alien bit was a face burster that was neat. And I read the Aliens one shot, interesting that Vasquez nephew is anti Weyland- Yutani. Although I guess it means that Newt's dad has been in stasis the whole time.

    Also I noticed across the Alien comic issues that in dialogue the s-word swear is complete but anything that is supposed to be f-word swear is just "#@&#$". What's up with that, Marvel?

    When reading the issue I assumed it was just facehuggers running about the place, didn't realize they were implanting embryos in people who'd already been impregnated. Is that the fault of the art, writing, or me? Probably the art lol

    Most certainly the fault of the art. [face_laugh] I also didn't get that sense at all from what that image was depicting.

    Currently reading Pat Cadigan's novelization of the first draft of William Gibson's Alien 3 script. I still maintain that the Assembly Cut of David Fincher's Alien 3 is the best Alien 3 we could have gotten, given the myriad of scripts/treatments written post-Aliens, so I am very glad that the movie that we got is the one that actually exists, but this is book is fun as a standalone, alternative read so far. I quite like Cadigan's writing style, and she seems to be having fun with some of Gibson's first draft's more out there concepts.

    I'd love to see Vincent Ward's script get a similar adaptation some day. That script was also kind of a mess, but I'd love to see how a writer handles the wooden planet and monks that were prevalent in that iteration.

    I know there are some fellow fans of the Alien RPG here, and there are a lot of concepts from this iteration of the story that have found their way into that. Some ideas have even made it into Alex White's latest novel, Alien: Into Charybdis, as well.

    Well @bstnsx704 I was going to go to Barnes & Nobles today to try and pick up a Tolkien book (Lost Tales or Fall of Gondolin) but then you have to go and drop that! Forgot that book was even coming out. Thanks! Now I don't know what to look for! Decisions decisions decisions. Arg!

    Aliens always takes priority over everything else so if this is there I'm getting it. [face_peace]

    My local weather made a point of saying tonight is a "Hunter's Moon" which (like a lot of things admittedly) made me think of Aliens. Specifically AvP 1 when that archeologist says "hunter's moon" with a great Italian accent. May have to watch that tonight because, deep down, I like torturing myself. (I kid, the first half of AvP is pretty solid imo minus that it's based on two R rated series and manages to be PG13. But when they made a xeno-head shield and tail-spear I wanted to walk out of the theater...The 'next chapter' button is my best friend)

    AvP has it's moments, not entire dumpster fire. Heck, Lance Henriksen is back in it and even though he's just kinda old and dying it's Bishop (And he's doing the pen/knife trick). First Alien vs. Predator moment is boss. And I really like the final Queen chases the hell outta the Predator and Lex ending.

    I personally love the dumpster fire that is AvP Requiem. That dark, muddy, hard to see film made me laugh my ass off for its entire runtime. What a complete mess.

    In the Aliens game I'm running, finally had the first death of a PC... not due to a xenomorph, or android, or another person, but because they crashed a shuttle carrying highly explosive compounds while fleeing a ship that whose reactor went critical. [face_laugh]

    AVP1 has a pretty decent movie in there. It's not great, and it lets silliness like the xeno head arm shield slip in, but it's not bad.

    AVPR was bad... but it's really just the human plotline (essentially Grindhouse's Planet Terror taken seriously). I'll still contend that there is a pretty badass, Predator-focused, 45 min movie in there when you trim out the crap.

    I think one of my biggest original gripes about AvP was "damn, those xenos gestated and grew up way too fast" and then y'know Prometheus and Alien: Covenant took it an ran with it so nevermind. I think James Cameron even mentioned once that they tried to keep it vague about the time in between. Although there's literally a story in the Alien comic that is predicated on gestation time, ditto like all of Alien 3. (and the unknown in between time of the alien itself gestating in the basement).

    Of course, Covenant is Neomorphs we see grow on screen in real time. David's batch is also unknown but seems quick-like. Who knows how much time passes on the Nostromo in Alien. So I dunno, let's just say Queens and advanced Aliens take awhile...?

    And with it (now) established that the gestation period is both variable and likely manipulable, the Yautjas doing so in AVP makes total sense, given the pyramid's function as a rapid training ground. I believe there was even an official answer to that effect in that the machine that the Queen is hooked up to doesn't just keep her on ice but is also pumping her full of steroids and other cocktails that result in the faster gestation for her offspring.
