Is Prometheus the only one with scenes on Earth?

Resurrection's alternate ending had them on the (wrecked) surface of Earth in Paris. It's been too long since I've watched the actual film, but i think the released version of the movie ends in the atmosphere, without showing the surface. But, either way, that's also several hundred years after the rest of the films.

Unless you integrate the Blade Runner films into a Ridleyverse of sorts :).

We're agreed then we need an Aliens sequel based on the alternate ending to Alien Resurrection. Edge of Tomorrow came pretty close. It's the only alien apocalypse movie with a better ET. Unfortunately Bruce Campbell has already taken the "Alien Apocalypse" title, but I'm sure they can work something out.

I just can't see what the point of Covenant was.
I mean Prometheus was at least a good attempt at giving some backstory , the company , the space jockey etc. And then we're expecting to continue that, but then Covenant was just a dumb basic 'pick 'em off' story.

I think, unless I'm mistaken, the premise of Covenant was that David wanted to carry on Elizabeth Shaw's research on why those alien beings created mankind only to want to destroy them.

I love that sequence, but you're not wrong. The way it escalates is just so crazy and I think it kind of accurately depicts people going into panic mode and doing stupid things. I remember watching it in the theater and by the time the ship blows up my jaw was just on the floor. It's really intense and it just kept surprising me and, yes, you're not wrong, it is also kind of funny. And I was just genuinely surprised they killed off some of those characters that early in the story.

But I think what elevates Covenant for me is just still Fassbender's performance and the David and Walter characters. I mean, to me, just exploring those two characters is enough of a "point." It's enough of a reason for the movie to exist.

Tbh there were only a few scenes in Covenant that I even remember.

This was the scene that always got to me for obvious reasons mentioned before.

You could make the argument that Covenant was the most gorgeous slasher movie ever made. (Right down to the two-hotties-schtupping-in-the-shower-only-to-die-horrifically trope. Which honestly has no place in an Alien film.)

The script says that the meeting with Burke and then the inquiry board was on Gateway. As is Ripley's apartment.

That is my least favorite scene in the movie.

I know that it was somewhat of a mainstream fan theory that Blade Runner was in the same universe, but Prometheus kind of ended that with the whole backstory about Weyland himself - Blade Runner 2049 certainly doesn't really fit. (I mean, you can always pound the round peg in the square canon hole - I've certainly done it enough - but it doesn't look like Scott, or anybody else, is really interested. Also, possible licensing issues?)

Actually, it was special features on the Prometheus's BD, in conjunction with an Aliens disc release, that provided the strongest (and most recent) links between the franchises. The BD extras establish (as far as copyright will allow) that Tyrell was Weyland's mentor:

Meanwhile, the Aliens release gave us a closer look at the character bios seen in the background of the film. Dallas's shows that he was formerly employed by the Tyrell Corporation.

2049 also had a replicant body based on the Engineer, though that one can be chalked up to being a pure Easter egg, I think. Not gonna embed the screen cap, because of his, uh, tool box. ;)

Or is what you're getting at regarding Wallace's acquisition of Tyrell in 2049's backstory, in relation to Dallas?

I don't think that Cameron was outright intending to say that the universes are the same. It's probably meant as a joke since you could barely read that in 1986. Kinda like how Burke refers to the androids as belonging to Hyperdine which is similar to Cyberdine.

I mean, they are nice Easter Eggs but I don't care for these universe to blend.

If what Noah Hawley did with Legion is any indication, the TV series could be pretty great. I can't see it *****ing the bed like the last 4 movies anyway.

There is also a non-zero chance that Hawley's Alien show will feature musical numbers

In part. It's also the incompatibility of the backstory of Weyland with the state of the world in Blade Runner 2049. The TED talk, the saving the Earth from climate change in the 2020s... like I said it's not impossible. But I will note that Free League, which has the TTRPG license for both Alien and Blade Runner, makes it clear they're in separate universes as far as they are concerned.

Having said that, it was kind of an unspoken thing among a lot of nerds in the 80s and 90s that Alien/Blade Runner/Predator/Terminator were all somehow one universe.

Terminator would nevr work, but I can see the thematic connections. Predator is obvious (though The Predator potentially wrecks any chance of Blade Runner fitting in, depending on when P4 is actually set).

Well, there are older connections (same computer system graphics can be seen in both- though in real life I'm sure it's just a reused asset). Still, it'll never be official, but is nice to think about.

And after that you integrate Outland. ;)

I personally include Outland and The Thing.
With the amount of crossover comics DC and Marvel has done, I'm sure he's already there. If you look hard enough, you probably can find Batman Meets The Care Bears if you look hard enough.

Officially, Fox considers Alien, Predator, and AvP three separate continuities, and any Easter eggs just that. A surprisingly sensible approach.
