Couldn't give a monkeys about that. As films, the three Hobbit films are more entertaining and better made than AOTC.

AOTC is garbage, ROTS is the only good Prequel but still not better than any of the Hobbit movies

    Jackson >>> Lucas

How come we're not all on a LOTR's forum then?

Tolkien would never write something so absurd as a dwarf falling for an elf!

1 question, this is serious: Why are you on a Star Wars forum then?

Except that he did. Like as not, Gimli asking for a strand of Galadriel's hair (and being all ablush that she'd given him three) after he'd called her a witch is exactly that. So if Gimli, a mere nobleman, could overcome his prejudices so swiftly, then why not Kili? He is, after all, a Prince of Durin's line, and presumably trained to look for diplomatic solutions over war, if at all possible.

Anyway, as I wrote in another thread,

On the subject of box office returns, here is a very interesting article in the Hollywood Reporter (that is, a legit business publication) about how the exchange rates affected BOFA's official box office:
    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/how-hobbits-billion-dollar-box-769071

From what I understand, if the rates from 2012 (or even from 2013) would have been applied to BOFA, it would have long since gone over the billion mark, even though attendance in general didn't decline.

Also, from the Box Office Mojo numbers (http://boxofficemojo.com/showdowns/chart/?id=vs-lotr.htm), it appears that BOFA had the weakest opening of the Hobbit movies (currently at 21% of the total box office), yet it has made almost as much as the other films. It means that, contrary to popular belief, BOFA actually has legs, that is, people are willing to spend money on it long after its release date. This would seem to be a sign that it has got good word-of-mouth publicity, because people wouldn't have gone to see the movie if both friends and critics had tanked it. Indeed, it would seem that the reverse is true: despite some lukewarm critics, it still has the popular vote.

Well, I'm sorry if sarcasm isn't as easily detectable in the written word as it is orally. On the off-chance that it weren't sarcasm, I decided to answer anyway.

Watching the trilogy on TBS again, it's still epic, SO MUCH better than the Hobbit.

No, because their entire ideology - well not entire, like 98% - was pure evil, so they would have ROTS, AOTC and TPM in top three slots.

In hindsight, I enjoyed Richard Armitage, Martin Freeman and Sir Christopher Lee in the new trilogy. So many things I would have changed but I'll stick with the positives.

And I'd love to see Richard return to the SW universe as a major player.

tbh the saruman fellowship fight is pretty bad too, but it has its own charms and is at least is grounded in something resembling reality. and doesn't feel like I'm playing Gandalf's levels in The Return of the King video game.
