The Hunt for Gollum will open in theaters Dec. 17, 2027

This still sounds like a bad idea. As confirmed before, Serkis is playing Gollum and directing (Peter Jackson and co are producers). As good as Serkis is at playing Gollum, I just found out that his directorial experience includes Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Great.

Think they'll deage any other LoTR series vets who show up here? They called their shot by reusing Christopher Lee dialogue in War of Rohirrim so I think they are going with "same actors continuity" and Serkis is totally down with digital experimentation

Anyway more Serkis Gollum is never a bad thing, I wonder how much he'll play him on set with all the crouching. And y'know technically isn't he supposed to be in another The Batman at some point?

 

I thought we knew it be December release. I think we we will see more of Aragorn and Arwen love story. Gollum and Shelob alliance. Aragorn and and Legolas together and do side quest, extended scenes of Aragorn in Moria. More Smeagol flashback. Gandalf fights Nazgul and the Witch king, we watch Denethor get corrupted by the seeing stone. Sauron becomes the Eye we see in the OG trilogy.

I'm done with Rings of Power (quit after season 2), I'm obviously not excited about the Gollum movie, and I'm probably not going to be excited about whatever movie comes after that (since they said it's a two movie plan). I haven't seen the animated Rohirrim movie yet (as far as I know, it's only on Max in the US, which I don't have).

So... for me at this point, it's just the existing live action movies plus the LOTR novel, which I plan to re-read sometime.

Not really, no, but I saw the articles about the movie release date above so I shared one of them here. I still like keeping up in this thread anyway, and I don't plan to badmouth everything as it comes out.

I bet if this is true, the hobbit trilogy probably left out hours of each movie too of content that never got put in the extended editions.

Well the hours of content cut out of each hobbit movie is true, not sure if the Peter Jackson Snyder verse is true even though we know hours of content got cut out of each lord of the rings movie and most hours never made to the extended cuts of all six movies

 

Do you honestly believe that they could have an "uncut" version of the film that's over a week long?
