It's not like it was a strong presence in the OT or the ST.

Finished this one yesterday (sadly the UK version with the vastly inferior cover art ). I liked finding out more about the Handmaidens and Padme meeting people that will be important later on like when she visits Alderaan, which was a nice link to Leia POA.

I do wish Mina Bonteri had more of a role though. From what I remember of her Clone Wars episode she was a good friend of Padme before the war but I didn't really get that impression here. More like brief acquaintances at best, much like how I felt Han and Lando were in Solo.

I also don't get why Padme feels so unnerved around Jedi in the book. Yoda's warm greeting to her AOTC makes it seem like she's friendly with them to me.

Thanks for the heads-up. I just downloaded it to my Kindle. I have the print copy in hardcover but nice to have the digital one as well especially for free:)

Looks like it might be US-only. Amazon UK doesn't even have a Kindle version of the book listed, let alone a free one.

In commemoration of Star Wars Day I thought it only appropriate to read this book (which I haven't read before) about one of my favorite characters. Real excited!

I hope you enjoy it. I really think it is a great book for those of us who are Padme fans and/or Prequel era fans:)

I can't wait to start reading through this one. I ordered it online about a week ago(before it was given out for free unfortunately) and it's going to get here any day now. I'm reading through Master and Apprentice right now while I wait. I just wish prequel books would come out at a faster pace.

I wasn't going to get it since I already have the HC. (And I do have a US Amazon account - in the past I've ordered books from there if they aren't available on the UK site.) I was more curious if it was US only or available in the UK as well.

Yea, I always planned on reading it but decided now because Queen's Peril is coming out in a month. Padme is, in my opinion, one of the most underappreciated characters. This was probably due to the opinions of the PT. This is where TCW comes in though as a vital part of Canon however. You can't just discount the mother of Luke and Leia as a footnote and I think more needs to be done with her in it as Thrawn: Alliance was.

I agree that Padme has been an overall under appreciated and underused character, so I'm really happy that new canon gave us this book and the upcoming sequel that just focus on Padme.

I just finished the book and really liked it. I thought it was cool seeing her early years & relationship w/her handmaidens. I don't think it overdid it on the fashion and don't get that criticism. I have to say seeing Mina Bonteri and her origins was also very interesting. Getting to know Sabe and her devotion to Padme and man that love scene w/her and Tonra, wow! And that epilogue? Omg that epilogue was insane! I need more Sabe!
