LOL @ the Nexu running around with Padme's bra in it's mouth!

you're right about the "disbelief"...Padme was probably thinking to herself as she was laying in the sand, "well, if half my shirt can come flying off for no good reason, then I can probably jump right up after falling out of that spacecraft moving at 100mph. (jumps up)

Yet it's totally and completely believable that Luke could fall down thousands of feet in a tube after a fight where he was given a rather traumatic physical dismemberment as well as emotional shock, yet still manage to miraculously hang on to some lil' weather vane-ish thing and be thinking coherant enough to call to Leia via the force? :p

Hmm... are we hinting at the fact that the OT has many of the same "faults" as the prequels? Blasphemy. :p

Whoever said they preferred Natalie and her midriff over Britney Spears and her mid/upper riff, now that's blasphemy!

Baby hit me one more time! Kappowww!

I think what happened was that the nexu's claw puncture Padme's shirt and went under her shirt, hence practically lifting the entire shirt off and ripping the whole strip of cloth off.

Now that I think of it, the nexu probably could have torn all of Padme's shirt off. Boy would I have loved to see that.

Anyone else notice that the Nexu's paws are practically as big as Natalie Portman? That just strikes me as amusing somehow..

LOL, notice that the AOTC bashers dissapeared when somebody mentioned Leia in the garbage compactor?

I've noticed that all of them look pretty clean for just having taking a dip in a garbage compactor..

Well, Luke was scrubbing his hair. And the reason why Luke and Han looked clean is because they were wearing stormie armor in the trash pit, and they took it off when they came out. Leia, on the other hand...did not. Must have been the Force. ;)

Just an excuse to show some Natalie Portman skin. At least he could have shown the monster ripping the bottom of the shirt off

What do you think Leia was wearing a bikini in ROTJ for? ;)

I'll tell everyone why she suddenly appeared missing half her shirt

Because people want to see Natalie Portman in less then a full jumpsuit

People agree, it doesn't matter if the shirt shouldn't have torn, all that matters is it did :)

It wasn't sudden to me. We see the nexu claw tear her back, taking the shirt with it, then the reast is seen falling to the floor.

And about falling and not dying: Maybe because it's Star Wars and lots of the stuff done in it is impossible. But who cares?

KT: How did I predict that you would have such a scientifical analysis of Padmé's shirt being ripped off?

I think that should have DEFINATELY been one of the deleted scenes on the DVD, that way the PG rating for theatres could still be kept

People agree, shirtless Padme would have been a good thing on the DVD

Leia wasn't dirty after the trash compactor? Was too!

Just have a look at her dress when they arrive at the Rebel base ... the "we have no time for sorrows, Commander" part.

As for all the stuff that happens in SW that's death defying, however unlikely - what's there to wonder about? It's the Force, of course.

It was the will of the Force that Padme should have her midriff exposed.

    Well, the Nexu did it.

But, it's just an excuse to "sex up" Ms Portman. And why not. She's certainly stunningly sexy. [face_laugh]

i think her jump must have made out of a similar mateial to the stuff that captain kirks gold top was made out of - i say similar cos unfortunately it did tear into complete shreads at the slightest touch

I always thought she herself ripped the shirt. I thought she was flinging the chain and claw thing at the Nexu, and she accidentally got the claw too close and ripped part of her shirt. It always seemed logical to me.

Of course, I thought Han and Greedo shot at the same time in the original ANH, so I should probably look at the shot more carefully.

I have always wondered how can Padmé's white suit stay so clean - she rolls on arena and over dune and still there is no marks of dirt or dust in her clothes. Maybe they are made of teflon.

Kirk's costume was even more brittle.
That thing would tend to shred to pieces if he so much as sneezed loudly.

    ok here is what happened.

Padme's suit is made of galactic-fiber-cotten-clothosteel. its very form fitting and when torn, other parts of the suit automatically unravel themselves in order for the outfit to look natural. now having the back ripped off, that would NOT be very good looking fashion-wise, so the front unraveled itself in order to make the outfit look even, thus making sure that padme still looks good in any situation. its all explained in the deleted scene entitled, "Repairing Padme's outfit"
its a good 20 minutes cut from the film, and if left in the film, us fans would not have to wonder about these important questions
