Tenyon, you look just beautiful in your costume. Wonderful!

I have to say that the scene Padmé wears this in has got to be one of my favorites from the film. Makes me love this costume even more.

You look fantastic Tenyon, excellent costume!

In the movie I would never have known the colour of the costume at all, if I hadn't seen all the pics here beforehand.

Tenyon - your costume turned out so beautiful! The sash looks perfect too! Is that the denverfabrics moss silk velvet? I couldn't help ordering some myself while they still had it. :)

Woh, Tenyon! Your costume turned out great! =D= I love it! [face_love]

Oh! Jedi_Ginny, I thot I spy you in your outfit over in someone's photos from The Philippines? :D

Unfortunately, I will have to stop at the Underdress stage for now for this dress. :( Firstly I can't order the velvet as they don't take overseas order any more :_| even tho' I can have it sent to vPostUSA, our local Post Office "Warehouse" in USA. Then, after seeing my friend getting the Biker Scout armor, I think the time has come for me to get mine too after whinning about getting it for 3 years plus (after I realized no way my legs gonna fit into the Stormtrooper armor and GT closed down). Hope I can go back to doing it by end of this year in time for the SW Exhibition.

Thank you for all the sweet compliments :) and yes that is the denverfabrics moss silk velvet. It's just the right fabric for this costume. It's great! But I do want to warn costumers from Europe who want to order this fabric: Don't be surprised if you have to pay 56 euro's more for the fabric. They like to tease you at the customs authorities.
I loved wearing the costume, I think it gives you the perfect feeling of Padme in EP III: Motherly, sad but full of love.

They do deliver to Europe? Sheesh! Why is it that they can't deliver it to a US address and take Mastercard or PayPal payment from a Singapore buyer? :(

Yes they do, can't believe they don't want to deliver to your country Darth_Eagle :( . If you ever want to continue with this costume and want the denverfabrics moss velvet, I wouldn't mind to help you. You could order through me, and then I will see if I can send it to you. I know how hard it is to get the right fabric. Finding it and knowing you can't get it because you live somewhere else is the most frustrating thing to happen.

Darth_Eagle - I'd be happy to help you get the velvet too - if they send it to me, you won't have to pay the customs fees to get it to Tenyon. Just whatever it might cost you if I mail it to you. You can PM me if you like...

Ah thanks Benae Quee, you made me blush [face_blush] and yes I'm definitely will be doing the etching, but not after some very heavy testing on my fabric scraps with different techniques.
I will make a little report of it with the results, but don?t expect it to soon because I have my exams on Monday :p

Sadly, denverfabrics is now out of the moss silk velvet! I tried to order it, but they said they only have less than 1 yd left. And they won't be getting more in. That stinks!

Oh well, I guess when I get to this costume, I'll be dyeing my own fabric!

DF's once told me they wouldn't be getting my purple/black dupioni in ever again that I used on my Purple Diamonds dress. This was when I ordered a swatch. When I called back they had more of it in. I think if they keep getting calls and emails about it, they'll order more ;)

I don't notice the moss green velvet on Denver Fabrics site anymore. I'm assuming they're not going to be getting more in based on what I'm reading here? What was the next best place to get the green velvet for this gown?

I made this costume last Halloween and finally found out how my camera works. Woo hoo! :p

    Close up

The brooch isn't the same, but I just grabbed one that looked the closest.

    Cloak

    Cloak

There are a bunch of flaws in there, but that's because I only had two pictures to go from. I'm thinking about redoing the sleeves, for one they aren't long enough, and two the shape is off. So I'm not exactly happy with those.

The velvet I used doesn't have the "golden" color to it, but it was the only fabric that was close enough to my liking. I think it was around $7 per yard, but the day I went there was a really huge sale.

I used a sponge and a copper fabric paint and used that at the top, just above the wrap, but once again I didn't realize the symbol went all the way down the cloak.

The pattern I used was Simplicity 4959, view B. The hood isn't deep/wide enough to get that drape it has in the film, but it's pretty close to the shape. The cloak itself needs to be longer, and the sleeves don't match up, so I constructed my own sleeves myself by measuring.

Even though all the flaws, I'm extremely happy with the cloak. :)

    Looks nice spacelady.

FYI, Maggie posted some great info on the make-up that was used for this costume on her site today. I happen to have the Stila eye shadow that was used and can vouch for it's prettiness in real life. :)
    Thanks for the info Maggie!

Does the silk velvet have to be stretchy?

Is $11 dollars a yard too much for silk velvet?

Heck no that's a total steal buy it now for the love of Padmé!

Most other velvets are around $15/yd average, and silks usually $20 or more - so, $11 is a major deal!

Oh Good because Denver fabrics has it for like 11.00 dollars a yard. Where as I see that othere websites have it for at least 30.00 dollars a yard.
