Amph Paramount Pictures' Sonic the Hedgehog movies + Knuckles series

Pretty bold of Paramount to ruin The Flash before WB could ruin The Flash.

 

Running fast has always been the stupidest possible power.

 

.....Why is this somehow vastly less awful to look at than the "normal" Sonic in the trailer?

^ hahah that is surprisingly accurate. James Marsden would seem to help too he can have some great bits. If you put this cast in a sci-fi comedy it could work. It really does look like the worst thing about Sonic is Sonic.

 

Do we know if Tails, Knuckles and Amy are going to be in the movie?

 

I hear you but am morbidly curious.

 

Don't know about those three but I do genuinely feel like Shadow (Equally terrible visual design as Sonic) is going to teased in a poorly thought out post credits stinger as the villian of a sequel that will mercifully never get made after this movie completely bombs out.

 

Him or Metal Sonic I would say.

"Uh, take out the teeth I guess on the closeups?"

Somehow I don't think this movie is suddenly going to be good with a design fix.. it's more that every single thing in the trailer was bad.

 

I like that only now are they aware no one likes the design. The fallout back when they released the design in the first place? "Possibly just a coincidence!"

 

I am looking forward to a better design in a **** movie.

 

I'm sure the feedback that registered the loudest was from the suits at Sega saying "You've reduced one of our most iconic characters to a smoldering heap of an internet meme. Now what are you gonna do to fix it?". There was a story months ago that Sega wasn't happy with the design at the conceptual level but in the end Tim Miller talked them into going with it. He better hope that next Terminator movie really lands with audiences because his reputation is getting down to the fumes of what it gained from the first Deadpool movie.

But if I was a fan I wouldn't be hanging any hopes on massive changes to Sonic's look. A movie like this is going to have significant merchandise tie-ins and those swing into motion many months if not a year or more in advance. That's a ship that can't turn on a dime. Massive changes at this point are a no go for all of that stuff and it will limit how much they can alter in the movie itself, unless they delay it to allow all of the merch vendors to catch up to the changes.

 

It is? His last major project was Love, Death + Robots, and everyone seemed to love that.

Not that he doesn't deserve a dragging if he is responsible for pushing movie Sonic's current design, but I think Tim Miller's career is safe.

 

I just watched the trailer for the first time and I'm honestly kind of stunned. How did this get made? I mean, people approved this. At various stages of development. Wow.

I think his teeth are the only problem with his look, honestly. Characters in animation usually have simplified features, which makes his pretty human-like regular Joe teeth look jarring. Simplifying them, like this, will probably go a long way. Or just make them all one continuous slab like pre-computer animation characters usually used to have. Also, shouldn't his corner teeth be pointy?

 

I have no problem with the teeth or nails. His overall design doesn't look right. Not sure if this has been shared.

Why couldn't they just do a full-blown animated movie instead of this live action crap? Could use the character's voiceovers instead of their performances with ridiculous makeup. I grew up with Sonic in the 90s, and I can tell you that while many people seem pleased with Carrey as Robotnik, I don't see it. Carrey looks like Robotnik's thin older brother.
