Power of the Peeps

Well, now that Easter is passed and Peeps are on sale for absolutely dirt cheap, it is Peeps season again.

How does one get the proper stale Peep? Do you leave a box out for days, do you remove the cellophane wrapping and then leave them out, or what?

 

If I knew you liked peeps I would have given you mine. I think they made my cats high...

 

I never had a peep until I was 30 years old! My mom was a peep fanatic and she'd eat them all. Her method of making them stale was to poke holes in the package ... that way they were kinda protected while they dried out or whatever it is a stale peep is like.

Oh, and for fun, put one in a microwave and watch it grow. Keep an eye on it though, you don't want to be scraping peep remains out of your microwave!

 

opening up the package and letting them sit out is the best way to let them get stale but, I never leave them long enough to get stale lol.

 

Here is what you do:

Slightly moisten the peeps and leave them in a hot moist place for about a week.
Just for good measure place the peeps next to a piece of bread that is lightly moistened and leave it in the afore mentioned moist place.

You definitely don't want to put peeps in the microwave. They are one of the worst things to clean out of the microwave.

 

It may be messy, but it sure is fun to watch.
