"People Don't Talk Like That" TCW/Rebels lines that were just awful

All in all the writing in The Clone Wars and Rebels is/was pretty good however every now and then comes a line or phrase by a character that brings to mind Harrison Ford's famous phrase "You can type this **** but you sure can't speak it."

One of my personal worst is a line from TCW episode: Bounty

Dengar: Hello darling looks like we're securing the back platform together.

Anyone else got any laughably bad lines of dialogue......

 

"You left me for dead. Luckily Hondo pulled me out of the wreckage." Aurra Sing, Assassin

"You will never defeat Grievous! NEVER!!!" Grievous, A Necessary Bond

And this one always stood out as odd to me:

Satine: "We need to contact my sister for help. She'll send reinforcements."
Obi-Wan: "Who's your sister?"
Satine: *no response*

 

"The council didn't trust me! So, how can I trust myself?!"

 

"We need to get to that jungle planet. We need to get there fast"- Quinlan Vos Hunt For Zero

"We need to get to bridge. We need to find out what's going on." Ahsoka- Brain Invaders

 

"Ya , ya, ya, ya, yes, yes, yes!" - Dr. Vindi

"You mean MURDERED!" - Dr. Vindi

And basically everything he says.

 

vindi is like that for a reason, he is a homage to the mad scientists form 1950s b movies, who did talk like that in those movies.

 

That doesn't mean he wasn't ridiculous - just that it was intentional.

 

Yeah, I like Vindi's over-the-topness, in a 'so bad it's good way'.

 

"I feel so cold" x3.

 

Man, if you guys think no one talks like Vindi you must not know very many interesting people.

 

I don't think for me the character worked or arc worked, mainly cause the character was goofy looking and sounding & the arc was interlaced with too much comedy - intensional or not. I could've overlooked the character's cartoony presence had the tone and delivery been more serious. I think it should've been a more serious and darker arc as it was dealing with chemical weapons and a very unstable psychopathic scientist with an even greater psychopathic tyrant he was working for, Dooku. The danger level I don't think was there, they tried add little things here and there but it ended up very childish and disjointed especially as the arc was connected to DROL which could've been a separate and unrelated arc or solo episode. Padme and Anakin and their love story I don't think needed to be there, would've been ideal to use some other Jedi alongside Anakin. I think Jedi Star Fighter game handled it better with the mission to destroy trihexalon and the Captain Toth.

 

"Pookums here really has her heart set on another R2. She lost the last one."

"You owe Rexter your skin, Skyguy."

"I'm not a murderer, but I want justice!"

"But you started when you murdered my father! I'll never forgive you."
"Hm... Well, you're going to have to. Take him away."

 

"I'm not so young anymore"...

Probably all lines of dialogue from Meebur Gascon ..

 

"We're not as young as we used to be."

--Padme, age 27

 

That's up there with the "chains are the easiest part" line. Both are cringetastic.

 

What!? I love the chains line, it's dripping with creepiness, and it's a nice call back to the Son.

 

"Come on then who'll strike first and brand themselves a cold blooded killer?" Tal Marekk- who apparently had a death wish

 

It was so predictable that this would turn out to be another Anti-Ahsoka thread.

 

What? When did that happen?

 

"Stop calling me that! You're stuck with me, SKYGUY!"

"What did you just call me? Don't get SNIPPY with me, little one! I don't think you're even old enough to be a padawan."

"Maybe I'm not, but Master Yoda thinks I am."

Gotta love such natural, unforced exchanges like this!

 

It's the fact that Rex laughs to such unfunny jokes that makes me cringe.
