Ep5/ Throughout entire movie... Several times on Hoth and several times by Lando on Bespin.

I knew there were parallels in the Saga regarding story lines and visuals, but dialogue lines are just another level of parallels within the entire Saga.

I love the line from Han and Anakin. Here's where the fun begins, giving some sense of adventure amidst a war.

Ah yes. That line spoken by both characters seems to portray their calmness and passiveness in any situation. Their basically saying that their confidence in their abilities seem to outweigh any certain situation(s).

Maybe this has already been posted, but I just realized:

ROTS: "Good is a point of view, Anakin."
ROTJ: "So, what I told you was true, from a certain point of view."

In both cases, the protagonist has difficulty accepting this reasoning. "Different points of view" doesn't fit their way of viewing reality. It's good or it's not. It's true or it's not. This is dealing in absolutes....
Luke does understand what Obi-Wan is saying pretty quick, though.

    Thought so, :p

Anyways, I like how the point of view line parallels in Star Wars. It makes the entire Saga more complex because it all depends on how you, and the characters, view situations and events. That's part of the confusion in Anakin, his point of view. Look where that got him.

It isn't nessesary word for word but two scenes I noticed mirror each other is at the beginning of TPM when Ob-Wan says he senses a disturbance something elswhere and elusive Qui-Gon tells him to keep his mind on the here and now or something to that degree and in ESB when chastising Luke and giving reasons not to train him he tells him he his always looking off elsewhere never with his mind on the here and now.

What about the minor "no"'s no one ever mentions:

    TPM: Obi-Wan to dying Qui-Gon

AOTC: Padme to dying handmaiden (Dormé or Cordé, I get their names mixed up...)

ROTS: Padme to Obi-Wan when he tells her about Vader's evil deeds, and, I think, Obi-Wan to Yoda after he sees the security hologram.

ANH: Leia to Tarkin when he tells her he's gonna destroy Alderaan, I think.

TESB: Han to Leia - "I... uh... no." lol
    Seriously,though, I think it might be... I haven't got a clue, really.

    ROTJ: Luke to dying Anakin.

P.S. Han says "What the..." right after the Falcon comes out of lightspeed in what's left of the Alderaan system.

I have more of a question someone might be able to help me with. In ROTS after Anakin takes off out of the elevator Obi-Wan says, "Always on the move.." This seemed familiar. Is this mirrored anywhere?

In ANH, Obi-Wan says "Quickly, they're on the move...", to Luke, shortly after he chases off the Tuskens from ransacking his landspeeder.

That's a particularly brilliant link which helps suggest Qui Gon's influence on Yoda.

It's remarkable how cohesive this saga is - all things considered!

They mentioned that on the Revenge of the Sith DVD, didn't they?
I'd been listening out for it, and heard it when watching ANH today. The scene where Luke and Leia are on the unextended bridge, surrounded by Stormtroopers. It was quite funny to hear one of the Stormtroopers let out the same scream that's heard in Ep3, as he falls down.

Some more Revenge/Return repetition (lol... say that 10 times fast) :

    Revenge of the Sith:
    SIDIOUS:
To cheat death is a power only one has achieved, but if we work together, I know we can discover the secret.

    Return of the Jedi:
    SIDIOUS:
He has grown strong. Only together, can we turn him to the darkside of the force.

What I really like about the ROTJ quote is what Sidious actually means by "Only together we can turn him" - This is Sidious's subtle way of describing his plan for Luke to turn by killing Vader.

    Revenge of the Sith:
    C-3PO:
    Oh Dear.
    Return of The Jedi:
    C-3PO:
    Oh dear.

    Revenge of The Sith:

    Anakin (aggressively) :
    You underestimate my power!

    Return of the Jedi:

    Luke (passively) :
You can either profit by this, or be destroyed. It's your choice, but I warn you not to underestimate my power.

Good catch. It makes me wonder if he told Dooku that "only together" they can convert Anakin (will check the Novel for that!) -- and what by "but if we work together, I know we can discover the secret" he really had in mind

This reminds me of Sidious' "friendships" throughout the Saga.

"I don't know how much longer I can hold off the vote, my friends." - in AOTC, to the Jedi council.

"An old friend, like Master Kenobi." - in AOTC, to Padme and the Jedi Council (after having stated 10 years before in TPM that he was "indebted to him for his bravery" - so Kenobi wasn't only Padme's but also Sidious "old friend".)

"I've waited a long time for this moment, my little green friend" - in ROTS, to Yoda.

"Rise, my friend." in ROTJ, to Vader.

Seems like every time he calls someone "his friend", this actually means he wants to do away with him.

You're right, these are all very tongue-in-cheek uses of "friend".

I think Sidious was actually being sincere calling Vader "My friend" in this scene. Vader is the closest thing Sidious's true self ever had to a real friend.
The fact that he so quickly finds his "friend" expendable when Luke comes along just shows the kind of guy that Sidious is :)

Possibly, but I think he thought of "replacing" him with Luke as early as in ESB. But most of Sidious' statements have multi-layered meanings, so while it's possible he really considered him a "friend" (in a very weird sense), plus the "working together" thing you mentioned I think at that point it also indicated he wanted to do away with him.

I really need to go over all of these Sidious/Palpatine quotes again.
"Together, we will bring peace and prosperity to the Republic." - She actually had her share in his plans.
"Only together can we turn him to the dark side of the Force."
"If we work together, I know we can discover the secret." --- What in the world did he have in mind with this ??

Here's one I picked up on the other day:

    From ESB:
Yoda to Luke on Dagobah -
"Your father, powerful Jedi was he"

    From ROTS:
Sidious to Anakin - "(good, good, the Force is strooong with you.)
"A powerful Sith you will become"

Love the way Sidious has a moment of backwards Yoda-speak!! Wonder if it's a sarcastic comment aimed at his exiled 'little green friend' !!

    May this thread never end!

Well, logically he must have wanted Luke instead of Vader since ESB, or the conversation Vader and the Emperor have in ESB doesn't really make sense.

That's another good reference to Sidious's use of "together". Some people think the irony here is that Sidious "obviously doesn't want peace." But the Empire is his vision of peace, and Padme will (unwillingly of course) play a large part in the Empire's formation. And she has already significantly helped him rise in power in Ep1.

Well, one thing we know for sure that he had in mind here - that Anakin would be his apprentice.
I think that is his main motivation with this line really.
Whether he actually wanted Anakin's help to discover the secret of immortality is very hard to say - why would Sidious want to do this if keeping Padme alive would keep Anakin happy? They seem to abandon the search for immortality after Padme dies (I'm assuming partly), perhaps because Sidious feels "immortal" with the security of his Empire anyway, and because Vader doesn't care about anything anymore.

It is quite possible this asteroid is not entirely stable.
I'm not sure this floor is entirely stable.

The chances of survival are 750 to 1.
The possiblity of successfully navigating an asteroid field are approximately 3720 to 1
The possiblity of surviving a direct assault on an Imperial Star Destroyer...

    don't forget chewie

he says the same thing all the time.
