TFA has plenty of interesting and memorable lines in my opinion. Way more quotable lines than the PT.

'Traitor” is not something specific to remember. It is a usual line in almost every war movie. And exactly after shouting 'traitor', the respective character takes his weapon. So the scene is also unmemorable as structure, the only memorable thing is the strange weapon, but without the gif, 'traitor" is how to say it, nothing meaningful per se. Erase it and the gif would not suffer it all. Even the hated lines of the PT are quoted without gifs and are recognized instantly from the audience. Those are indeed memorable lines. Even "I don’t like sand" become memorable. You will say t in the good way. Liked or not, is remembered. When the next traitor appears in SW (and he/she will appear, we have war fantasy movies after all) and this traitor would be forgotten. The weapon will stay of course, no matter that the scene itself contains the favorite Abrams deux-ex-machina moments, but whatever.

Okay then. Well, off the top of my head, here's a few lines that I think are quite quotable.
    "Chewie, we're home"
"That's not how the force works!"
"I will finish what you started"
    "The droid...stole a freighter?"
    "Tell that to Kanjiclub"
    "That lightsaber...it belongs to me"
"I never knew there was this much green in the galaxy"

Also, since when was "traitor" a quote from every war movie?

I guess you might say they are full of fear.. and as we know... "Fear is the path to the dark side, fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering..."

The lines you're referring to are infamous. No question, the PT has far more of those than the rest of the Saga multiplied by 10. Not sure that's something to be proud of though.
    Does it? Such as?
As we know the clumsiest most blatant deux-ex-machina employed was at the end of TPM. Anakin accidentally destroying the DCS which immediately turns off all of the battledroids o_O

As for good quotable lines, I'd have to concede there are slightly more of them in the PT than TFA. Slightly.

...Still we are talking about 3 movies compared to just one ;)

Wait is the new argument that GL was a poor movie maker because TFA has more memorable/quotable lines?

I use Star Wars quotes all the time, and GL interweaves the same lines throughout all Star Wars, to the point that each movie has some of the same great quotes and good new ones. And some of the PT really highlights good quotes from the OT (eg, Anakin's "This is where the fun begins" highlights Han's "Here's where the fun begins").

I like a lot of the TFA quotes (I use "It's true, all of it" way more than I should), but having a few good one-liners does not a superior movie make. I wish TFA weren't a tool used by people as an indictment against Lucas. It's a good movie to be sure, but it being good doesn't de facto make any other movie bad.

No one is suggesting it does. This was just a brief tangent of silliness. As opposed to all of the other silliness in this thread.

Oh, God, this scene looks so bad. Like from the most expensive fan-made movie ever!

To paraphrase some comments here, TFA has more badly executed scenes than PT in total. About ten times more.

That's a stormtrooper using a weapon with skill. Here's an interpretive dance routine by people with colored sticks:

...Or we could leave behind the tired PT vs TFA stuff & get back to talking about George. As we established, he did listed to embittered fans. He told us so. Did he listen to them enough & about the right things? Trickier to answer.

Using a weapon with skill? Seriously?

That's a whole lot of skill using an over sized noise maker...

Wow, what an original complaint! Who'd you steal that from?

Also, more badly executed scenes? Sorry, but no scene in TFA ever came close to some of the awful romance scenes in Clones, or the dumb Jar Jar bits of Menace,

heels1785 This thread is dead... Definitely needs a quick death even though it is I who created it.

In fact, the reason why I created it is because I just wanted to post this excellent article on the first page which I've translated from french to english (since it was originally written in french). I never saw coming what happened recently...

I think people had enough time to read the article and make up their minds. Besides I've already copied the article on the "Pro-PT articles" thread.

I love that line and I don't know why. Kanjiklub sounds like an anime fan group at a city college. And the Scottish accent is just adorable. Okay, I guess I know why.

As for the main point of this thread: I do think George had every right to make the movies he wanted to make. And fans had every right to be incredibly displeased with the result.

Kanjiclub sounds like a band Boy George would have been in early in his career. And I like it too for some reason. It tickles me.

But I agree with SW Saga Fan that if this is going to continue to be a TFA vs PT slugfest, then heels1785 should deal this thread the final death.

But before that happens, I will say that I love so many one-liners in all the movies! I thought "Droid, Please" was adorable, and also pretty much anything Obi-Wan said in the prequels is repeatable. I have been joking about the hating of sand and "This is where the fun begins" for awhile now. No to mention "So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause" which I think is probably the best line in all of Star Wars (and close to the Yoda "luminous beings" speech in ESB).

Malevolence is what destroyed this thread. I think there was fair conversations in here but some of them were just ruined. Most of them anyways.

Of course it's subjective, but I think that kinda went without saying. Also, as someone who was a little kid when TPM came out, I never found any of the stuff with Jar Jar funny. Pretty sure my friends felt the same way too.

Now this is going out of place, really. As this come from random comparison I made and voila, a Sparta- style defense of TFA come as deux-ex-machina (Darth Downunder, I think you should revisit your information about it, I don't think it is close to the meaning of the concept).
I don't want to be rude to TheMoldyCrow but did you made the effort just to read anything different in this thread except the TFA reference? Because this thread is not dedicated to TFA at all. And yes, those complains (including this about my 'friends' ) were discussed here too. At least in the previous pages some of the bashers of the PT tried to be original and I appreciate that.
Anyway, after the grammar arguments and the usual gifs posted above that substitute the real, adult discussion, I think also the thread is in coma. We should be merciful as heels1785 proposed.
