If I were a communist, I would freaking hate Stalin and Mao for using my ideology to be autocratic bastards who killed millions... Not praise Stalin for anything.
This was supposed to start a fight? Was there anyone seriously debating between Nazism or Communism as philosophies? Both are held in pretty poor regard.
How am I supposed to take it? I am not perturbed by the notion that something is marginally better than an ideology that was organized explicitly around an ethnocentric hierarchy with genocidal purges? Are we supposed to consider that an accomplishment?
Remember folks, you shouldn't criticize Churchill, or even bring up the many deaths by violence and famine he presided over, because the UK fought the Nazis. But you also can't acknowledge that the Soviets fought the Nazis, because that's not criticizing Stalin. Srsly. It's not like anyone was ever imprisoned, tortured or killed by the US or UK (aside from in Ireland, India, domestic minorities, Central America, the Middle East...).
Well, really, I think the Soviet troops were heroes who don't get nearly enough recognition. But they didn't really get a say in the matter and weren't fighting for the ideology of communism.
For all the bad things Churchill did, he decidedly did not kill anywhere near the millions of innocent people Stalin did. That's just ridiculous.
The now routine equation of Stalin and Hitler both distorts the past and limits the future. - Seumas Milne, The Guardian This article is a pretty solid start, to avoid spreading too much srsns in the ****posting thread.
Do you people know who that woman is that you're using as a stand-in to **** on the Soviets? Look up Lyudmila Pavlichenko.
Who is ****ing on the Soviets? I just called them "heroes". But so often the refrain is, "Oh, Stalinism isn't true communism", and maybe that's true as far as it goes, but then that rules out using Stalinist USSR to score points in favour of communism. Yeah, maybe they aren't comparable. They're both monsters in their own right, and that's reason enough to take a dim view of anyone on the left idolising Stalin.
So what I’m getting from all of this is that DANNASUK played everyone like a fiddle. Edit: Here, I brought a ****post:
