Mini Series Poll: Name of Boba Fett's Ship

It has always been Slave I. Too late to change it now IMO. Everyone knows it already...

Naming Firespray-gunships Firespray is just unimaginative. If they come up with new name it should be good though. But why would they? Boba Fett may not so popular after this show anyways.... Ship has been Slave I for decades, I feel it is disrespectful towards Lucas too to change it now. He never changed it.

Slave I was always a weird name to a ship though. Imagine how weird would ship called like Prisoner I be or... Victim I? Wouldn't even "Master I" make more sense than Slave... I think there was some story to that weird name, like it is weird sort of black humor by Jango.

There should be more parody of ships with problematic names though. Imagine spaceship called The Sex Offender....

 

By everyone you mean harcore fans that read bad EU in the mid 90s. Absolutely nobody but those people know it was called Slave 1.

I actually like just "the ship" "my ship", adds a bit of impersonal badass. It just gets him arounda and kills people. That's what his ship does. And it is only his ship. The reference to it being "Slave 1" in Clone Wars was just Aurra Sing making up a name for it.

 

If Disney keeps upsetting fans like they did making Boba fett a merciful person as well as changes to name of the slave one ship, than Star wars is heading to the gutter.

The more subverting to the fans,the more might give up on Star Wars.

I mean if MCU kept on subverting marvel fans, it would not be as popular as it is today.

 

Yeah, I think Robert McCall probably referred to his Jaguar XJ6 as "my car".

They could make Jango's backstory that he was a slave as a kid. And naming his ship Slave I was a kind of personal joke/reminder for Jango.

I just find it sad that a corporation like Disney, that has no issues with dealing with authoritative regimes across the planet or making business with companies that use slaves right now, is trying to preach what's correct cause its marketing department or god knows who told them, that's its not in their business interest to use the word "slave" anymore.

The funniest thing about this to me is that the Databank on the official site has it both ways. The URL has changed, but the Slave 1 name remains throughout, and the current main image is from The Book of Boba Fett. You win some, you lose some.

URLs for webpages are often not exactly the same as the titles of said pages. It might just make sense for the URL to generically say Boba Fetts starship as most people don’t know its actual name. Doesn’t mean that Lucasfilm is trying to have its cake and eat it.
