Selma is a he, check the hbo episode guide

Ginnifer Goodwin has been delivering big time this season. How she was accusing Nikki of stealing her mom. Her bonding with her mom, before her mother finds out.

Wow, I managed to miss that bit about Selma Green the first time I read it. I can't help but wonder if it is a typo, however.

Yea, I seemed to get the impression that Green's wife was indeed the angrogynous enforcer. IIRC, the camera panned slightly in her direction when Hollis mentioned his wives on the tape.

The episode from Monday also helps to explain why he likes to pee in the sink, as it is another way to belittle his wives

See, I always knew that Big Love secretly aspired to be the new Sopranos. :p

But seriously, that was a good episode and not just because we all got to see Ginnifer Goodwin's butt pressed up against the window.

It will be interesting to see if Roman dies or not. I hope not. Even though he's a ****, he's a much better head villain than Alby would be (probably).

And I just have to mention the "my brother, Selma" bit. WTH?

I dont think that he's dead, if only because Id think they'd save a major death like that for the season finale (although I could be wrong and they could be totally flipping the script and positioning the Greens as the new antagonists).

I think one of the most important aspects of the episode was the Bishop visiting to talk with Barb.

Now their old bishop has strong suspicions that the reason Bill and Barb left the church was to go to polygamy, and I see him doing some poking around the family.

It shows how far apart Bill is from his children. Ben tells him, that you wont listen to me and quickly shrugs it off, without weighing the weight of his son's words.

But even more powerful was what Sara said. We are going to have to talk this over. "Dad I have been right here"

    Danm powerful stuff

I really hope they don't pull off an "only wounded" move. Roman is an old man and there's no way he would survive being shot like that. Even if there was a hospital across the street from where he got shot I wouldn't put money on him surviving.

At least 3 times. Once in each arm and once in the chest.

Wow, nice connection there. I hadnt even thought of that until now, but its totally there.

Well, unsurprisingly, Roman survived the shooting, and more than likely will pull through (otherwise I think they would have killed him off immediately). Guess the season will end with a power struggle between Roman and Alby.

So are we all in agreement that Ben is jealous of that dude at Home Plus and not just defending his mother's honor? It's seemed pretty obvious to me that he's had a crush on Margie since the beginning of season one.

I also can't wait to see where Nickie + gambling ends up. It won't be pretty, I'm sure.

^^^ yeah we know Nikki doesn't have any compulsive obsseive behavorial problems when it comes to money.

Kind of similiar of the kid from the super strict family that goes away to college and parties like crazy with the first air of freedom.

Yea, it was obvious from the get go that this whole gaming venture was going to be disastrous for the family.

So, do you guys think we'll see the Greens again this season ?

I hope so. There must be lots of messy crap that went down after Roman murdered Bill's grandfather and I want to know every bit of it.

    New HBO program news...

    http://tv.ign.com/articles/812/812059p1.html

The show, called True Blood, will be under the creative control of Alan Ball (Six Feet Under). It's a dramatic comedy about a town in Louisiana where humans and vampires live side by side in relative peace (thanks to some form of synthetic blood).

Yes, I know this has nothing to do with JFC or David Milch, but it doesn't warrant it's own thread yet so I'm posting it here. :p

Yea, Id read something earlier today on that show over at zap2it.com. I remember reading about it a while ago and was wondering what was going on with it. The article said that theyre scheduled to go into production within the next few months, so hopefully the show will debut no later than this time next year. Whenever it debuts Im looking forward to it and will definitely check it out.

Just want to make a couple observations from last night's show:

    1. Margene has learned very well from her mom, Barb and Nikki in how to be manipulative. The note to Bill was great.

    2. That woman at the support group has Sarah pegged, and Sarah doesn't want to admit it. Though I have to admit Sarah has been my favorite character this season.

    3. And then there is Alby, this is what I wrote about him at another message board:

Alby in alot of ways reminds me of Commudus from Gladiator. He was always put down by his father for not living up to the father's expectations. Meanwhile the son had expectations of following in his father's footsteps. And then when the oppurtunity presented it, they took it. And when they took it, they made sure that no one questioned their strength or legitimacy, not even their own family

I would agree with the comparisons between Alby and Commodus; however, I thought it was just too ambiguous as to whether or not Alby actually killed Roman. Maybe HBO.com's episode guide will clear it up.

I just loved Ginnifer Goodwin last night. The temper tantrum she threw in the hotel room was pitch perfect and on par with the best temper tantrums Edie Falco threw on the Sopranos. However, I liked the scene where Bill reveled his true nature as a polygamist even more. The collective reactions by other 3 at the table were great.

I also really liked Rhonda's blackmail scheme. She's so ******* evil. I thought Tina Majorino did a great job of selling the truth behind Rhonda's accusations without it getting all melodramatic. That Heather was in love with Sarah was something that had never really occurred to me. I always just thought Heather was the nicest person in the world and the best friend ever, but I'm glad it's more complicated than that. Let's just pray Heather's father never finds out or she'll be sent to one of those "camps."

And finally, how many villains is this show going to cook up? So far we've got Roman, Alby, the Greens, Rhonda, and Frank; and every week all of them seem to ratchet up the show's general threat level. Pretty much every week I think that it can't get any worse but it always does. If the show gets any more intense, I'm going to have to stop watching.

    Not really. :p

Ive always had a sneaking suspicion that Heather wanted more than friendship from Sarah. I remember noticing some subtle signs last season, and her general disdain for Sarah's boyfriend seemed a little more than simply a girl angry over losing her best friend to a guy.

Loved Margie last night, but then again, we've loved her all season. I agree that she's learned well how to manipulate Bill and the other wives, but I guess she had to living with Nikki, and even Barb (in her own passive agressive way). I loved how she basically told Barb how it was going to be, that Weber Gaming will be hers and that Barb can keep Home Plus. It'll be interesting to see how Nikki reacts to all of this, too.

Speaking of Nikki, I didnt really see the point of her throwing a party for Joey, Wanda and Kathy aside from simply throwing some of the stolen money away. Perhaps this will be made more clear next week. Also, does Frank want Kathy simply to get at Joey or is there a more sinister reason ?

I think the reason that Nikki was so adamant about throwing the party was away to connect to the compound-principle life she grew up, and has been disconnected from.

Yeah I think the reason that Frank wants Kathy is a way to get back at both Joey and Lois.

As to the Heather, I always thought I was simply reading to much into something. But, lets say she was, who do you think her parents would blame?
