I get why the Jedi wouldn't wear power armor, given their seeming preference for lighter clothing that lets them be more agile, but why don't the Imp Knights have any?

IMO, while Force users can benefit from armor (and the Jedi must have holes in their heads, the way they never use anyway) power armor is redundant, since they can augment their own physical capabilities, making power armor an unecessarry expenditure at best, and a hinderance at worst.

The Imperial Knights seem to understand this, and so limit themselves to conventional armor.

    I won't deny it. [face_chicken] [face_laugh]

It's the age of the Astartes' preferred recruits that troubles me.

Of course, the Ecclesiarchy has probably brainwashed most Imperium populaces to believe sending their sons off to get gene-altered is a preferable fate to, y'know, having as normal life as possible.

True, at least some of the planets they recruit from are hellish, and the populaces seem to have been seeded there to produce stronger stock for the given Chapter ... but it still bugs me.

That, and I read the Blood Ravens Omnibus the other night. Ckrius ... [face_sick]

Although his induction was extremely accelerated. Still. Very, very creepy. It all comes back to the GRIMDARK of the milieu, I suppose.

Back to the power armor - I'd agree; there probably is some exoskeleton, repulsorlift or servo network helping the clone carry the load. And as noted elsewhere, game mechanics' canonicity is highly debatable. :)

Probably because of their Jedi roots, and the fact that drawing on the Force can make you vastly stronger and faster than any machine ever could-assuming you're dedicated enough.

It makes sense that humans are easier to modify before puberty.

Its not like they actually send kids that young into battle, they just start their training then. At least I assume the scouts are at least 14-18 before they go into battle.

Anyway, power armour = more moving parts = harder to maintain = easier to break.

Yeah, but don't they start a group of one hundred recruits with the stated goal of fatally whittling the number down to one?

Yes, it does. In the same way a tank has more parts and requires more maintenance than a horse-drawn wagon. And a gun or blaster has more parts and requires more maintenance than a rock.

Maybe, but you may be confusing them with Halo SPARTANS.

The Adeptus Astartes and SPARTANs are about as different as they can get and still be genetically engineered soldiers.

Although now that I've tried looking it up, I can't find anything that says that, so I may be wrong.
