My first show was in 1990. The main event was Dusty Rhodes against Randy Savage. Dusty won I think using the loaded purse. Sherri beat Sapphire in about two minutes. The last match of the night had Demolition (Ax and Smash and not Crush) defending the titles against the Hart Foundation. That match ended in a double-DQ.

Second card I went to was later that year and featured WWF World Champion The Ultimate Warrior beating Randy Savage by count-out. Bossman beat The Barbarian and told him that even though he won the match, he was still going to kick his ***. Power and Glory actually beat The Hart Foundation to win the titles but the decision was reversed because they had used Hercules chain. Jake Roberts was interviewd by Brother Love who said that he knew "Brother Snake" didn't mean to DDT him on Superstars several weeks earlier. To which Jake replied "Bull****." Rick Martel (who had beaten Dustin Rhodes by submission earlier) came out to ringside to aruge with Jake. Love grabbed Jake's hair but Jake gave him the short-arm clothesline and the DDT. Also on that card, Jimmy Snuka defeated the Warlord.

Only show I saw had a Main Event of JYD vs. Nikola Volkof. I got a five from one of Hilbillie Jim's "cousin's".

    SS main event prediction:

Since it's Orton v Cena, and Cripple H is scheduled to return, but not necessarily wrestle, Crips will show up at the end of the match and cost Orton the title, seeing as Orton was the one that put Crips on the shelf in the first place. (He'd go after Edge, but a) he's on Smackdown!, the B show, and b) he's out for a few months)

It's HHH/Booker at SS over the "King" angle.

Right I see this king angle as a return for Trips.

Booker will beat Jerry to be the "raw" king and then Booker will probably show up at summerslam and issue an open challenge to a "King" and we'll have Trips return. Which would be rather cool.
He probably will go from face to heal again. Then again he makes a good heal.

I just hope he doesn't bury Booker as bad as he buried him at Wrestlemania 19 but I'm sure he will.

Trips needs to win, you can't lose your first match back with all the hype.

Oh, there's no argumenet there. HHH has to win. But we don't need to see him once again hit Booker with a pedigree, only to wait five minutes to pin him. You can win a match convincingly without having to the guy you beat look bad.

My first show was a Mid-Atlantic show headlined with Ric Flair and Magnum TA vs. Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard with Baby Doll (long before the Horsemen). I also remember Paul Jones vs. Jimmy "Boogie Woogie Man" Valiant in a hair match and the Rock and Roll Express vs. Ivan and Nikita Koloff. Others on the card were Wahoo McDaniels, Pez Whatley, the Barbarian, Angelo Mosca and Mosca Jr., Rufus R. "Freight Train" Jones, and then a few others I can't remember. That's closing in on probably 27-28 years ago. I got an 8x10 photo of Roddy Piper and an 11x14 photo of Ricky Steamboat and Wahoo McDaniels which I still have today.

It'd be nice to see Trips bury Mark Henry and Khali.

I might almost bet that those two are the ones that WWE thinks are important to not keep buried because they are the "important superstar and uberdraws of the company". [face_plain]

No argument there as well. Let it go back and forth and Booker needs to blade.

Fellow wrestling fans, I need your help... Inside of my mind I can clearly see me watching a C.W. Anderson match in person at a live event. I've been looking at the events that I've been too, only to find no mention of CW in the results. I'm posting this here because I'm pretty damn sure that I've seen Anderson live and I figured that many people researching are better than one.

    Events I've Been To

1998: WWF House Show at the Hearne's Center in Columbia, MO. I doubt this was it.
2001: WWF House Show at the Hearne's Center. Still doubt it.
2003: Hearne's Center, WWE House Show...
2003: World League Wrestling at MACC in Moberly, Missouri. I strongly doubt that it was this one.
2006: WWECW House show on 8/05 at Poplar Bluff, MO. This may be the one, but no results that have been posted include C.W.

Can you please help me on this and prove that it wasn't a dream or a TV match that somehow got super-imposed into my memory as a live event?

From another board I post on, I picked up on some GREAT wrestling gaming news. Agetec has purchased the translation rights for Spike's "Fire Pro Wrestling Returns", and we can expect a release either later this year, or early next year. I just had the game imported a few months ago, and can say without a doubt that ANY wrestling gaming fan should NOT pass this up. Not at all! The roster's massive, and if you don't like the selection, you have 500 slots to create your own characters! Also, it has a comprehensive move list, a good selection of match options, and a unique gameplay system. I just had to spread the good word to other wrestling fans, and hope that this game will receive the attention it deserves! :D

But enough of the semi-preaching. And going back to an earlier post about the potential HHH and Booker T feud, I will say that if it's worked better than Wrestlemania 19, and Trips does not go all squash-happy on Booker, it could be VERY entertaining. (But as for the title scene... I find it very hard to decide who to "side" with for the Orton/Cena feud. Both are equally repugnant in my eyes.)

Another nice Impact this week. The tag team segment seemed a tiny bit forced, mainly because I thought they were trying too hard to make the Steiners sympathetic faces, but otherwise was entertaining. You could make a strong argument that the four teams in the ring are probably the most representative of tag team excellence in the four promotions mentioned. (Though if you just started listing ten best tag teams of all time, VKM and LAX are gone and 3D probably move down the list).

Even though they lost, the Motor City Machine Guns still looked really strong against LAX and showed some great teamwork. Is this the first time they've been introduced on Impact with the MCMG name? The tag division is still uberdeep, so who knows when they'll have an opportunity to shine.

I'm always amazed that the Christian Coalition gets booked so strongly because in interviews they always seem on the verge of breaking up. I think whenever Tomko ever turns on Christian (and if he's booked properly), he'll blow up into a fairly popular guy which is amazing when you think about the lunk he was in WWE. I liked that they brought Robert Roode into the Coalition, but I don't like that he's fighting with AJ over Christian's attention. AJ plays the comic relief really well, but I don't think Roode's character is the type of guy that would be fawning over Christian; if anything he should be demanding to be paid handsomely for his services.

The Dustin Rhodes interview was interesting. If they want to make him borderline psycho, he could probably do the job effectively. If he can get Goldust to work, psycho should be a walk in the park. Parts of that interview, he really sounded eeriely like his dad.

The Angle/psychiatrist stuff was OK. Angle is sort of a hit and miss promo guy I think. He can be funny with the right material, like last week. But this week he didn't seem quite as funny. But the payoff with Nash did work I thought.

TNA has added James Storm vs. Rhino in a "Bar Room Brawl" match to the Hard Justice PPV.

I'm still laughing from the last PPV when Storm & Jackie forced Rhino to drink from a keg and the crowd chanted "Chug! Chug! Chug!" The TNA fans are jerks, haha!

But I hope they keep James Storm talking like Boomhauer like last week. That was hilarious. Espeiually when AJ was the only one that understood him [face_laugh]

Karl Charles Istaz; known the world over as Karl Gotch, passed away at 9:45 pm last night just days away from his 83rd birthday. Gotch was a "place-winner" in the 1948 Olympics in London. From there he moved onto the famed Wigan School, where he learned submission wrestling. After migrating to the US, he began to build a reputation as a shooter, and considered by some "the toughest man alive." While wrestling in the US Kotch captured the WWWF World Tag Team titles with Rene Goulet.

In Japan he was actually referred to the "The God of Professional Wrestling," later he became a trainer for both New Japan Pro Wrestling and later the original UWF. Gotch's influence is very apparent in students Akira Maeda and Nobuhiko Takada; and that led to the rise of not only shoot fighting but eventually MMA in that Japan.

Yeah, probably. I've heard of Gotch. He was a legend. Nice to see a wrestler actually die of old age.

    TNA signs Adam ?Pacman? Jones

The suspended NFL player is headed to the 6-sided ring.

Late last week TNA Wrestling signed suspended Tennessee Titan cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones to a contract that will see the NFL star perform as a wrestler.

I wonder if there's a bonus for him brining in his Test-icles.

    God I hated that angle.

It's a sad statement when my original thought is at least Pacman will contribute something to TNA while Test will not.
