I would say "Ooh-tah-pow", but then, before TPM, I would have pronounced "Coruscant" "Chorus-kant".

    I like Lucas' pronunciation better.

Funny, I always thought the battle droid was just being sarcastic. "You're taking them to Coruscant? Yeah okay, think again."

I personally have been Pronouncing Kashyyyk as Kash-yck and probably still will!
I always find it odd, the way Tarkin addresses Leia on the Death Star Bridge. he says lee-a, but everyone else says lay-a

ok, my last point is this, did i just find out (for the first time) as a result of reading this thread, that the Lava planet's name is 'Mustafar'???

(why am i the only one who believes that non-spoiler should mean purely speculation only)

R_P, how it works in this forum is that all *officially* released material from the OS and Hyperspace is allowed, unless a thread is labeled HCSF (for Hard Core Spoiler Free), then it is speculation only.

We're sorry if we spoiled you, but so you know, these are the new rules for this forum.

edit: I went ahead and upped the New Spoiler Policy for you. :)

How the heck do you pronounce Mustafar anyway?

    Is it Moo-sta-far, Moo-stah-fer, Muh-sta-far, or what?

    I've been pronouncing it moo-sta-far and kash-ick and ooh-ta-pow or you-ta-pow... silly sci-fi names. :p

    Moo-sta-far

That's my assumption (I might be basing it off the pronunciation of "Mustafa", though). For Utapau, my guess is Oo-tah-pow (does Lucas or anyone else ever say it in the OT DVDs?).

But the real question is, how is Lucas going to pronounce them, as opposed to how the characters do? ;) "I created the planets Yew-toh-poh and Muh-stah-for..."

    It's Tion Medon's sinkhole-ridden () planet.

No, I think it's more like...say, the Moon, except the craters are holes the planet.

For Mustafar, I tend to say "Moost-af-ah"

"Yeah I can see where you're coming from but then why would the droid ask if it wasn't going to recognise the destination. Surely it would just say halt you're under arrest."

Well perhaps the droid only had data about Naboo's locations. It's all his little hard drive could possibly take. Then when they go off to another planet, that "road map" would be erased and a new one inserted. Simple.

Just found out about Mustafar, eventhough I think I've heard the name mentioned before. Well that's the risk you take when you open a thread like this, no hard feelings. :)

I also think it's quite funny if it's named Mustafar, I definetly think of Mustafa when seeing it, and we all know who made the voice of Mustafa. :D :D :D

As far as the other planets go I say something like:

Kashy-yk (with an y-sound that's close to how you say Lynn)

    Uh-tah-pow
