Do you have any intention of getting MotorStorm malkie? I just watched the IGN video review and it looks like a hell of a lot of fun and i'll definately be buying it when I eventually get a PS3.

 

Probably, as my other PS3-to-be-owners are getting that game, and it looks great for online fun.
Apparently the game doesn't have a great degree of one-player depth, but the online portion is supposed to be amazing fun.

Seeing as there are so few initial titles, and it's the one getting the good reviews then I'll probably pony up and get it.

one quick point I've noticed - the load times on Resistance are extremely quick - I'm impressed with the boot-up time, and the inter-level delay too - just enough to catch your breath before lauched back into the action. Possibly this is neat programming as there is usually a brief voice-over update between levels from a hottie-voiced girl, but when the loading-rotating icon appears, it's only 3 or 4 seconds before it's action again!

I've also been led to believe that the software emulation will actually upscale your old PS2 games for HD viewing, and also improve the shading of certain graphics. I also imagine it would be possible to use the improved memory and processor power to reduce the clipping that bothered many PS2 games. (the effect when scenery suddenly appears rather than slowly build from the distance).

On that note the clipping is totally nonexistant on the PS3, and is especially effective when playing a game in a large arena or with scenery in the distance. The depth view you get is amazing.

The update will also deliver extra new features to the PlayStation 3 including support for Bluetooth keyboards and mice

Cool. I'll need to get one as I'm more comfortable with a keyboard and mouse for FPS than a controller.

Good. That annoyed me because your PS3 is unable to do anything else while downloading what might be a 600Mb file. There's no reason you can't do background downloading in exactly the same way as we download while surfing on our PCs

Only one game i'll be getting and thats Resistance:fall of man, its the only one I want

 

My PSN is in my signature so friday night or anytime this weekend, online with any of the games I have listed...... bring it on

 

Grimsby is in Resistence, this makes me happy.

I can't wait till friday, because it will all be over. The crap PR of the PS3 launch I won't have to endure again, and never will I wonder how a company who revolutionised the marketing of the games industry could do such an about turn. I will hear less of the PS3 will pwn 360, I say less, because if anyone says anything that stupid to me again I will punch them in the face, and the goes for the reverse as well, no console is best, only the games make the console, and since exclusives are going to keep getting rarer it seems the consoles will just keep getting even.

The downside of Friday, I won't be able to afford a PS3, not for a long long time. Thanks Sony, make me feel crappy for not having stupid amounts of money to waste on more consoles.

 

I've heard that due to some bug, RoM is region locked for online play. I could be mistaken - I've only read that on message boards.

 

Some of those game message boards I find do go over the top sometimes cause I have been coming up against japanese and americans on RFOM for months.
I also have a japanese version of ridge racer 7 and my location I have down is UK on the game but I come up against other UKers,americans,japanese all sorts on that aswell.
Sony have given developers the freedom to do as they please but I know the majority will do the same thing.

 

do you know if we need to create new PSN accounts for the european network? ie my current "address" is in the US as it was my only option when signing up. But now presumably there's a new european network that I'd like to join (so I can put my credit card details in, and maybe buy games in the future)

 

WOW Resistance has just come throught the mail today, it feels more real now. It says 1-40 players online!!!

I have been playing story mode on resistance and I must say its pretty hard as the game goes on even in easy.

Answer to your network question;
I have a american one setup using any old address I picked off at random from the net and the same goes for my japanese account then of course use my address for the european account I setup tomorrow.
You can use the same card details for every single one of those accounts but as I have read on various message boards people are adding half the funds to their account first so when they make purchases through the store they are using funds and card payment
Its pretty simple to switch between your various accounts as its the first option on the menu bar.

apparently everyone at the Virgin flagship store lauch last night got a free 46inch HD TV when they bought their PS3s! (and a free taxi home)

The TV is nice, but a taxi in London past midnight would cost more than the PS3 and TV put together!!

I saw a ps3 in pc world today and i had no idea on how big the thing was.. almost the same as a 360. I thought the thing was going to be small

Nice for the 100 gamers in London who got their free Sony Bravia 42" HD LCD TV but what about the people who lined up in other cities and towns throughout the rest of the UK? Not very fair Sony!!
