Um, no. If I'm talking about something I did 20 years ago, I don't say, and wouldn't even think to say, "it was a very long time ago."

That is because, as you grow older, time seems to rip by. To a 37 year old, there is a degree of high school feeling like a recent memory. But, by the same token, in the 1980s there was a move toward radio stations focusing on "Oldies". "Oldies" meaning music less than 20 years old at that point because time seems to move so rapidly that stuff which was current becomes an Oldie in 20 years.

20 years is a very long time ago in context of why a girl in her early 20s doesn't remember seeing you in the Jedi Temple. It's because it was so long ago that her entire life experience had not occurred since he had been there.

Except we know that Qimir isn’t Plagueis’ only apprentice. So at some point something must happen to him and Osha for Palpatine to become the apprentice. That something might be death or it could be he escapes to make his own thing like Maul does much later on.

While it is most likely the case, we don't actually know that Qimir is Plagueis' apprentice at all.

    Ha, ha. Nah.

The Knights of Ren suck. There is literally no reason to bring something so lame into the story.

Unless they want to add a weak element to it. Which they wouldn't.

In contrast, making a Sith story about the Sith is not only logical, it's what most people want the story to be about.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't put it past some in LFL to try to use another show to repair the KoR. I just think it's a terrible idea and also believe Headland is too smart for that.

Plagueis creeping and enjoying Qumi's daily skinny dips. The dark side of the Force is a Path to many abilities some consider to be unnatural

Darth Plagueis wants Osha, whom he helped to create.

We have a Sith version of Luke here. Both Qimir and DP need Osha to defeat the other. Qimir and Osha have a strong bond, a relationship perhaps. But in the end, both are gonna have to die.

Either Plagueis helped to create the twins OR he will want to learn how Aniseya did it.

Either way, we have an awesome new connection to the PT.

The Knights of Ren may not have been well executed in TROS, but the concept of them was fairly rich with potential. They were equivalent to the original concept for the Sith Knights, a sect of pirates and marauders fueled by the dark side and led by a fallen Jedi. TROS made them glorified Boba Fetts, but conceptually they could’ve been threatening villains.

They are what the Sith were before that idea was codified into a two-person dark-side version of the Jedi in the prequels. I love the Sith, but they have limitations that a “new” group would not. Especially at this point in the timeline. And seeing that original concept executed in a new and creative way would be fun.

Qimir reminds me of what Kylo Ren was like around the time TFA came out, only he’s a much more mature character and has actually had good development. As Kylo was a reimagining of the original Vader from the first Star Wars film, so is Qimir. He can still be great as a Sith, but I worry about the limitations canon imposes on his story in that case.

Either way, he is the standout character from The Acolyte for me. It’s amazing that Headland originally intended to not show him in full until a later season. Without this character, I probably would’ve cared little about this series.

Agreed about canon limitations. 50 years is a long time to fill with many, many stories but what is the ceiling on the potential Qimir can reach (also Osha, but I am less interested in her) within the Sith hierarchy now that the clock has been set onscreen with us being firmly in the timeline of Hego Damask wearing black robes and *who* he inevitably ends up with at the end of all of this.

Well-acted and ultimately a more compelling character than either Mae or Osha.

In episodes five and six in particular, he delivered a strong performance. Episode six especially really hinged on his acting ability for me and he was able to make it the last successful one of the show for me.

He and the guy who played Sol had the best acting skills in the whole series thus far in my opinion.

The only character I'd be interested in watching if a season two is forthcoming. Every other interesting character (namely Sol and Jecki) died.

Qimir, Vernestra and Senator Rayencourt are the ones I'm most looking forward to seeing again.

One detail I enjoyed from the finale was how Qimir and Venestra only sensed each other on Brendok as soon as she stepped onto the planet’s soil. It highlighted the fact that the Force is intimately connected to living things, it’s not a psychic power. The planet linked them in that moment. Stronger Force connections may be sensed without an intermediary, such as those between family or close friends, but generally speaking, the Jedi aren’t constantly aware of other Force users.

    Interesting...

Initially, we weren't gonna see him in Episode 6. In Episode 6, she was going to leave him, go and do her thing in the finale, and then return to him at the end of the last episode. I saw Manny [Jacinto]’s screen test in the helmet and in his cloak, I saw him learning his fight choreography, and I thought, “There will be riots in the streets if I do not end the show with him versus Sol.” That was clear. So I rewrote the ending of the show for Manny. [Laughs]

I get that. But the way Qimir said it seemed to imply that for him it was a very long time ago. Had he just been speaking in relation to Osha’s experience, I think “it was before you were born” or something similar would have been a more natural line.
I must admit that he did feel like an odd third wheel for many of the scenes on Brendok in the finale. The narrative had to contort quite a bit to justify his presence. That said, the fight was good, so I think the finale would have been lesser without it. Though that time could’ve also been spent on more Jedi politics in Coruscant, which I’d have appreciated.

Manny Jacinto will be at Celebration in Japan.

"Or swear allegiance to Manny Jacinto from The Acolyte, making his second Star Wars Celebration appearance fresh off the success of the Disney+ series that saw his dark side character take on the Jedi of the High Republic."
