couldn't see a thread like this , I thought it might be good to have a thread on things you didn't understand or quite get .

    so I'll start :

    1. what were those 'dice' Luke gave Leia ? and what was their significance ?

    2. How did the FO track the Resistance ships thru hyperspace ? was it just new tech ?

    1. They were Han's dice.

    2. I think so.

    I have a question...

How did DJ know about the Resistance escape plan? Did you overhear it from Poe?

    1) They were Han's dice from the falcon. Convenient she could touch them consider they were a projection, but whatever we can explain it with the force.

    2) They were able to track them because the plot of the film required it.

I didn't pick up on DJ and the Resistance plan particularly, couldn't understand what he was saying half the time.

But why was DJ hanging out in a police cell if he can bust out anytime he likes?

And has anyone seen those dice before TLJ? They seemed like a pretty tacky inclusion if you ask me, and as I've said in another thread, a really cheap way of bringing closure to the Han-Luke-Leia triangle.

For all my complaints about The Last Jedi (and I have many), I can't fault them for that. Those dice were actually in ANH.

0:07 Blink and you'll miss them.

Yes, and there was a callback to them in TFA.

Wow... I'm kinda flabbergasted. I couldn't see anything watching on my phone, I had to check my DVD. Yes, they are there, but so fleetingly, and I've scanned every other cockpit interior shot from that point on in ANH, and then in TFA, and I've not been able to see them again.

How did you know they were there? What are they hanging from? 'Cos I can't see them in any of the shots where the camera is behind the characters showing most of the front of the cockpit.

I've seen the OT films so many, many times and never noticed them before. It sends like such an obscure reference to draw upon so (relatively) heavily in TLJ, but I can't knock them for attention to detail I guess. Thanks for correcting me.
    What was the TFA callback?

I didn't, actually. I watched this video just out of curiosity. While most of what they say is "well duh", I found this particular bit about the dice kinda interesting cause I had never noticed them before, either (I agree that was an obscure reference).

Something else people might not have noticed: Rey stole all the books from the Jedi tree. You can see them in the Falcon when Finn is getting a jacket for Rose. That's why Yoda didn't really care about burning down the tree and said something like "Rey already had everything she needed".

Not related: Rose is such a non-Star Wars name lol

I just have a little question: Is Unkar Plutt in the film? I heard a few months ago that he was returning and all I could think was "What? Why?!"

that was probably the telephone game effect at work. There was the deleted TFA scene where Chewy ripped off Unkar Plutt's arm and I think somebody asked the story group about the scene's canon status, and that if he did show up in TLJ if he would have both arms are not.

So, the Resistance's "friends in the Outer Rim"......it's the Ewoks, right?

I had the SAME question because Poe didn't KNOW that part of the plan and neither did either of the two he was with...

For the dice: Watch A New Hope and look in the Falcon's cockpit... kinda like dashboard dice...

The new hyperspace tracking tech is what I would call a kind of McGuffin. No explanation needed, but how do you get the rebels to be on the run, and have some handy side mission to give Finn something to do while introducing a new female possibly romantic character and getting Benicio Del Toro into the movie so the he can be some sort of badass in the next movie (I'm voting for him to be the new Lando type "I betrayed you but I'm a good guy somewhere in there"...

My bigger question is: How did they happen to be in the SAME cell as some random guy who can hack anything and get out of the cell with a gum wrapper... And on the subject of locks:

Are the locks and door controls in the SW universe the worst pieces of CRAP ever created? ANH: Blast the door to lock it. Blast the door to close it. ROTJ: Throw a rock at the door to make it catastrophically fall. TPM: Lightsaber vs. door will melt it, but blasters won't do a thing. Rogue One: Shoot the cell door to open it. TLJ: Gum Wrapper.... GUM WRAPPER.

why didn't the rebel fleet split up ? , the SD would then have the problem of choosing which ship to follow .

I'm pretty sure that Dreadnought had the same tech that the ships in Rebels had to detect hyperspace movement. Except in Rebels the ships were pulled out of hyperspace, in TLJ they didn't pull them out to cause them to burn fuel.

I loved the movie. My question would be, who does everyone think that the "allies in the outer rim" are? Old Rebels from back in the day, Lando, pirates, former Imperials who didn't embrace the First Order? Lots of possibilities there.

An outside possibility is Thrawn. In the new canon, he originally allied with the Empire under a deal with Palpatine, so that he could protect the Chiss from a threat in the Unknown Regions. This threat isn't named, but naturally, I thought this might be Snoke. Now, what if Thrawn survives Rebels, is exiled, and now, the Chiss could be willing to work with the Resistance, since if Snoke and the First Order were threats to them too, it would be mutually beneficial. Just a thought.

What do you guys think? I think the allies referenced multiple times in TLJ will be a major plot point in the next movie.
