After watching Dial again for the second time, I give it a 7,5 or an 8. Still last place though.

Like Sarge says, you can decide if you want to see the movie or not based on trailers and clips. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like Fast X due to not liking the last few. The internet is full of people hating on things they have never seen. I'm not going to see the Barbie movie, but I'm not going to say it stinks as I haven't seen it.

No you can’t. What a ridiculous post.just sums up everything that’s wrong with what people post on the internet and the opinions that have. Madness.

Totally agree, Raiders is one of the best movies ever made IMO. Defining a genre and action film making ever since. The amount of people online saying DOD isn’t as good as Raiders baffles me, how can it be? Raiders is that good a film and has had 40+ years to become part of popular culture. Everything else that follows can never recapture that, but for me DOD is a solid entry in series (just as TOD and TLC are) and it’s nowhere near as bad as people are making out. Even from people who’ve not even seen it. The internet really is a cesspit sometimes.

    I have a personal rule. I don't critique TV shows I don't watch, books I haven't read, magazines I don't subscribe to, or movies I haven't seen. But, hey, that's just me.

Why? What difference does it make what someone else says? You cannot judge if a movie is going to be good or not or if you will like it or not based on someone else’s reviews or seeing a trailer. You cannot form options or offer judgements if you have haven’t seen it. Everyone’s tastes are different and opinions that are posted on a film that the poster hasn’t seen are pointless. You can make a judgment on if you want to see it or not, but that’s a totally different thing to saying if it will be good or not.

    This. Total common sense.

    of course you can...

there are plenty of trailers I've seen where I've gone 'yeah not for me'
same with reading plot details, etc

can't see why this is so hard...but hey that's just me.

I will agree about reviews though: you can't base on whether you'd like something based on another's opinion.

but anyway I don't wish to derail this thread further.
    So with that in mind:

    1. Raiders
    2. Crusade
    3. Doom

    from bits I remember.

Look, if you really want to critique something you haven't seen, go ahead, it's a free country so you have that right. But at least admit you haven't seen it so I'll know how seriously to take your review.

    Last Crusade 10/10
    Crystal Skull 9.5/10
Raiders of the Lost Ark 9/10
    Dial of Destiny 8.5/10
    Temple of Doom 8/10

I had spoiled myself in advance, and I was expecting the way the climax is resolved to ruin it for me, however I found it working well for the story and emotional beats.

I've seen Crusade and Raiders the most frequent though, so this could change with rewatches of any. I'll see if Dial keeps its place or not- TFA was near the top of my rankings once, and it's nowhere near now.

well if this was to me, I never said anything about reviewing a movie you've never seen, I agree that would be just stupid
I was referring to a comment about judging a movie they've not seen based on trailers, plot write ups etc. People do that all the time,
    Hence why trailers exist...

Also, your point is kinda skewed, I have never played Tekken 8, but I'm sure I'd enjoy it based on what I've seen so far.

Dial was not very good. I hated The lady’s character. She steals from Indy and leaves him to potentially die, and then we are supposed to like her character as she basically leads the rest of the film??? I don’t even remember her name, or even care what it was.

    1. Crusade
    2. Raiders
    3. Skull
    4. Doom
    5. Dial

    Well, here goes....
    1. Crusade
    2. Raiders
    3. Dial
    4. Doom
    5. Skull

I loved Helena Shaw, she reminded me very much of the young Indiana Jones, who was pretty much just as keen on money as she was early in his career. I think that he reluctantly recognized something of himself in her. That said, I doubt the character's popular enough to carry a movie on her own, even helped by having Indy as a mentor.

    I think….

    1.Crusade
    2.Doom
    3.Raiders
    4.Dial
    5. Skull

There’s a bit of a gap between the original 3 (masterpieces) and the last 2, but I’m lucky enough that I find them all to be really enjoyable.

Copied from my rankings post after I came out of the theater for Dial (yes I do keep a Top 100 list lol)

    Indiana Jones FINAL RANKINGS

    1) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - 10/10
    , #30 on the DS Top 100

This is truly one of my all time favorite films. It took everything that worked in Temple of Doom and Raiders of the Lost Ark and pushed the envelope on it, and then threw in Sean Connery as Indy's dad. The film is also personal to me due to me being a Christian myself, and a history teacher (love the Hitler cameo, so well done). It's definitely a tier higher in my mind than even Raiders, mainly due to Harrison and Sean Connery and the top tier story. It starts small with the origin, but that origin is essential, and just keeps building (like with the church sequence and escape from the blimp [FLY YES LAND NO!]) until the finale in the Temple with the brilliant Holy Grail theme, which is in my opinion the best sequence in the entire series. And it's because Harrison and Connery just nailed the father-son dynamic. Watching them ride into the sunset to the Indy theme never gets old.

And X ALWAYS marks the spot!

    2) Raiders of the Lost Ark - 10/10, #44 on the DS Top 100

Also a personal one for me due to the obvious ties to the Old Testament. This is the one where Harrison shines the most I think, as none of the supporting characters dominate and the script is really really strong. The Ark theme by JW is SO good, and the Map Room sequence is just phenomenal filmmaking. Not too much to say here as it's been said all already.

    3) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - 9/10, #76 on the DS Top 100

First time watching in like 15 years. Underrated. I have no idea why this movie gets hate, it's great. Ya, Mutt's a bitt cringey a couple times, but this isn't exactly a movie (or series) that's going for Academy awards for its acting. I actually LOVE the alien sequence at the end, probably in my top 3 scenes in the franchise (along with the Grail Temple and Map Room scenes). The most important thing this movie got right though was it kept the whole thing revolving around Indy, which was tough since Mutt, Irina Spalko, and Marion all, for good or bad, command a lot of attention from the viewer. The ending honestly would have been the perfect ending to the franchise, which already had a great one in The Last Crusade.

    4) Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny - 8/10

HEAVY SPOILERS PROCEED AT OWN RISK

I have a lot more thoughts on this that are kinda scatterbrained since obviously this is my first time seeing this and it's been a 15 year wait.

    The Good:
    - New York, 1969 by John Williams
    - Seeing Indy in the theater again, Harrison is so fun to watch and it simply great; I also love how he is clearly an Eisenhower fanboy (Ike references in both The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny!)
    - Flashback sequence in World War II was absolutely incredible - it felt like it was right out of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, right down to the Christian artifact and Nazis
    - New York, 1969 by John Williams
    - The entire score
    - Enjoyed the extended Vietnam protest and backdrop a lot as a US History teacher
    - SALLAH CAMEO BUT HE HAS NO CAMELS
    - New York, 1969 by John Williams
    - Hot take but I love the idea of doing time travel; they've done occult, supernatural weapon, magic healing, and aliens, why the hell not try time travel?
    - Madds Mikkelsen
    - New York, 1969 by John Williams

    The Bad:
    - Indy feels like a side character at times; Phoebe Waller-Bridge's character felt annoying at times because there was simply too much focus on her in my view
    - This is the 3rd movie that could have ended the franchise, yet it has the worst ending of those 3 films
    - A few bizarre editing choices left me completely disoriented
    - Marion and Sallah reduced to bit parts; would have preferred more time with the characters I've already connected with
    - Missed opportunity to have Indy use the dial to reunite with Mutt

    The Ugly:
    - Killing Mutt off-screen felt like a big-time middle finger to George and Spielberg - I will have to look more into this, but especially as a fan of Crystal Skull and having watched it right before I got to the theater that sat really, really wrong and felt like a Kathleen Kennedy decision rather than a filmmaker decision. Felt like they were trying to replace him with Helena which I strongly resisted accepting as a fan

So did I like it? Sort of. I would not class myself as an Indy superfan like I am with Star Wars. But at the very least it’s a fun end to the series, and as a fan I had a ton of fun seeing this with my dad and reminiscing about Harrison Ford telling me himself to go see this movie and realizing I had heard John Williams premiering the new version of the Indy theme heard in New York, 1969 in person!

    5) Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - 6/10

Not as bad as I remember, but worse than it should be. I last saw it 17 years ago, and it is much better suited for adults than kids. But it also really does take a sharp detour away from what I like about the series. It's not a bad film, just not really what I want out of an Indy film. Kudos to George as the storytelling is a high point.

    1. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
    2. The Temple of Doom
    3. The Last Crusade
    4. Raiders of the Lost Ark
    5. The Dial of Destiny

Temple and Crusade are extremely close, and there are time when I go back and forth. The rest are set in stone. I love Crystal Skull's McGuffin, the contrast of Indy with the 50's setting, Spalko's big ham villainy, and even Mutt is perfectly fine. Raiders is one I've never quite bonded with, I think Indy's colder nature and lesser feeling of heroism in that movie makes me struggle to connect, even though it's still absolutely excellent. Dial is a decent 6 or 7/10, with some inventive action, but it feels so stylistically distinct and didn't quite muster up much grandeur or stakes as in the other four. Interesting to see another filmmaker attempt it, but Spielberg is so distinctive in his simple yet appealing framing of action scenes that it's hard to live up to.
