On the siege of lothal trivia gallery it states that "the scorch marks that Sabine sustains in battle will inspire her to repaint her armor and update her new look"

This is exactly what you want out of your season opener.

    Vader Vader Vader Vader Vader

They did an almost perfect job with him and hearing JEJ back as him was fantastic. In the trailers at times I thought he sounded a little off(he is obviously much older) but he still has it and you can still hear the emotion in certain words like he did back in the OT. Kenobi.... was perfectly delivered. Nothing else, no Obi-Wan. Just one word and JEJ nailed it.

Filoni and crew know what they're doing too by throwing Rex at us right away too, I was expecting him mid season but it looks like Rex and Ahsoka will have an big impact on the Ghost crew from here on out. I do look forward to the first Ahsoka-Rex scene on screen too.

I am glad they showed vader powerful and taking care of business with ease. This is how it should have been since the era of Anakin. I understand they didn't want to show him all-powerful or with restraint to use his power, but they could have made better known that he was showing restraint.

One thing though.. why so much emphasis on the "fear"? He shouldn't feel any fear... not anymore.

Ezra was literally a fly to Vader.

the only time Vader/Anakin ever had fear was in regards to losing someone. He is totally without fear in battle . I suppose he could fear not being powerful enough, though i don't really see that at this point in his life. He craves more power, but i don't think he has fear. Or shouldn't.

Anakin was tremendously filled with fear, as Yoda noted when he first met him. It just wasn't fear for himself or fear of combat, it was fear of losing those he loved....

Vader has already lost everyone he loves. Anakin's worst fears came true. There's no fear left, only hate and anger...at least until he learns about Luke, at which point he actually has someone to care about again. But during this time period, Vader is at his most merciless and singleminded.

Because the part of him that remains Anakin fears losing that last bit of himself to Vader. Remember, Anakin isn't gone, just deeply burried within Vader.

Vader sure does like to play with his food.

Ahsoka really needs to teach the boys how to fight, they're such novices.

Great episode! I like the fact that Vader already knows that Ahsoka lives. I'm still curious what is the bigger plan for Lothal minister Tuas was talking about.. hmm..
Too bad we will not see much of Vader in next episodes as it will move to Inquisitors, but either way CAN'T WAIT!!!:D

I really like this episode. If the whole season will be like this, I'll be very happy! :D

Really fun to see the Ghost crew have their own adventure, even after joining with Phoenix Squadron.
I liked that Ahsoka was used sparingly, and not as a part of the Ghost crew. It makes her prescense more meaningfull.
Vader was also very good; menacing prescense, great lines and amazing look. His final conversation with the Emperor gave me chills.
Also very nice to see Vader in a starfighter. He still is 'the best starpilot in the galaxy', after all.

Towards the end, when the Ghost crew are talking about fighting the right battles....go back and look at Ahsoka's face. She does not want to face Vader.

As I said in another thread, I think Ahsoka in Rebels will be the opposite of Luke; she will struggle to accept who Vader is and her relationship to him, avoid any situtations which involves coming into with Vader and will be scared of the rebels discovering the truth.

In the end, like TCW, she will end up walking away. Again.

I copy my post from the official Rebels thread.

I just watched the recent 1 hour premier of Season 2,and I am not going to lie, it was bloody amazing! I was a little worried that this series was going to become some fan service-show in Season 2, showing old The Clone Wars characters in every episode, but I feel pretty much safe to assume that that won't be the case. I loved Season 1, it was awesome, but I can already spot a vast improvement incomming.

    Spoilers below.

This certianly felt like The Empire Strikes Back in many ways, the heroes are now part of something bigger and have complex feeling towards it and towards one another. Minister Tua proved to be more complex than we realized, but she couldn't run from the true Dark Lord of the Sith himself, the one who truly stole the show in the episode! And I am not only refering to the voice in this case, the character of Darth Vader IS the one from the original trilogy, they really did him justice in this episode. I loved every single second of it, and I can't wait till fall for the rest of the episodes. Awesome!

This premier was amazing+loved Ashoka's reaction

Vader was very clever and it showed much of his darkness and how clever he was. (He had some awesome plans)

I am SOOOOO excited for the first episode coming out in fall, rebels recon on youtube showed us a clip of the three clones appearing, Rex, Gregor, and Wolffe. I'm glad they introduce them so fast :D

I'm fine with her surviving that (she is wearing armor and a helmet after all). But I kind of wanted to see her get a cool-looking battle scar/burn out of that at least. If Ezra can get TWO, then so can she.

I love the fact that they keep mentioning the feel cold when vader is near. And the look on ezras face when vader lifted the walker wreckage of himself was good.

With the crew leaving Lothal for a while, I wonder what the fates of Morad Sumar (considering he was planned to be in this premiere) and Old Jho will be. Especially Old Jho since he was the closest thing the crew to had to an ally before coming in contact with the larger rebellion (and I like the idea of a ballsy Ithorian, considering they were stereotyped as pacifists in the Legends continuity).

As for the preview of "The Lost Commanders", is it possible that Gregor has become senile (if they can age quickly, clones shouldn't be exempt from mental degeneration either) or that he suffered some brain damage from the rhydonium explosion?

    "The Apprentice Lives"

Oh it feels so good to be back, and what a great episode to be back with. Lots of action, lots of suspense. Lots of really great star Wars music. Lots of character development. Everything just came together so perfectly for me.

The opening was a great way to get right back into the action with a raid on an Imperial convoy. It's good to see the A-Wings in action.

But afterwards we get down into the nitty gritty. I've always enjoyed Minister Tua as a character for a number of reasons. She represents what I like to call the common Imperial. The whole regime is oppressive, yes, but there are many in it that, for a number of different reasons, really think the Empire is a good thing for the galaxy. Many are arrogant, and selfish, but are they evil in the way the Sith are evil? No. Minister Tua is a prime example.

I think I'm always going to remember her reaction to the execution of Grint and Aresko. Likely that was when she first began to suspect she was in over her head. It's quite unfortunate that she finally woke up to the reality of her situation just a little too late to escape it still breathing. I would have liked to have seen more of her. However this is a cold galaxy and not everyone is allowed a chance at redemption.

Moving on, I enjoyed Kanan and Hera's exchange in the hall. Kanan really hasn't gotten past being a loaner and drifter. When he first joined up with Hera, it was pretty obvious from AND that he was mainly doing it as an excuse to fly around in an awesome ship and get to know an attractive Twi'lek. He had no interest in joining some larger rebellion. Obviously in the years since their relationship has grown into a lot more, but joining the army, as it were, is still something he has problems with. It's easy to understand, too, considering the last military he was in tried to kill him.

Absolutely loved the manner in which Kanan got that Stormtrooper outfit. Right out Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. At least that's the first thing I thought of.

Once their attempt to grab Minister Tua failed, however, there was a good sense of just how desperate the situation was for the entire rest of the time they were on Lothal. There was very much a sense of how quickly Vader was tightening his grip, keeping them on the run, barely allowing them a chance to breathe.

Their eventual escape, though, was good to watch. Lots of good lines, a failed mind trick, and then, of course, their first confrontation with Vader. The whole mood of the confrontation was perfect. Chilling. Sinister. And he toyed with them. Vader tossing Kanan and Ezra about like ragdolls. It was epic. What would have been really awesome, though, was if he had lifted the walker off himself and then thrown the whole thing at them. As it was, though, I love the scene from beginning to end.

Then there was Smooth Talking Lando with Real Smooth Talking Action! It was a good way to lighten the mood a bit after the Vader confrontation, and their eventual escape off the planet was well done and very reminiscent of a similar scene from the the film "Serenity".

Then, of course, there was the final battle. Vader and his one man fleet. Anakin was arguably the best pilot in the galaxy and Vader continues that reputation here. Nice to know he still thinks spinning is a good trick. But when I first saw Ezra and Ahsoka watching the battle, Ahsoka's expression jumped right out at me. It was unspoken, but the expression alone suggested to me she recognized something about the attack pattern. No doubt she knew all of her Master's moves by heart. that would explain why she wanted to get out there and see for herself.

    Then there was...the moment...

I don't care what she told the others. Ahsoka knows it's him. She may not know how. But she knows. She felt all his rage and anger rush through her in one moment of crystal clarity. She may not even want to believe it's him. But deep down she knows it's him. It was a wonderful scene. Her reaction is exactly as I would expect it to be.

Vader's meeting with the Emperor does not bode well for Ahsoka going forward I think.

It's highly unfortunate that we have to wait until the fall for the continuation. But I'm looking forward to it with each passing moment.
