It's a difficult one and probably an area, which Rebels won't explain.

I don't think Yoda is sending them to their deaths; he could be showing them a glimpse of the past and what happened the last time a group of Jedi tried to destroy their enemies. There are potential consequences and could be significantly far worse than anything you could imagine.

I wonder if Yoda knows about Maul on Malachor, if he does, I think he wants to test Ezra about the temptation of the darkside. I don't think he believes Maul to be an ally for them at all, he seemed more disappointed about Ezra's choice to fight than anything else

Well Jinn and especially Yoda, and Kenobi could've trained a new generation of Jedi at some remote period in the future since they had the training and abilities of immortality - so even way after they were long dead I guess. We never quite know what sorta training he was gonna give Luke as Luke rushed off to save his friends after a glimpse into the future, and Yoda foresaw matters being worse once he ran off not completing his training. Luke could've been himself a middle aged or older man before he confronted Vader or his Emperor with all the Jedi training of Yoda.

I don't think they'll show it, the show and even the movies don't spend so much time on the training part of the formation. One episode,we see characters struggling to fight with a lighstaber, next few episodes they become master swordsmen.

Does anyone have any theories of what happened with the Inquisitor duo when they were confronted and attacked by the illusionary temple guards in the entrance chamber?

As I said in my review, it confused me and I still cannot put my finger on what exactly went down: the guards close in on them in a circle, then there's an intensely bright light and they seem to disappear (since Kanan, Ezra & Ahsoka doesn't seem to either run into them or even see them on their way out) & then the two are back there in time for them to face Vader. It is definitely one of the most mysterious scenes on the show so far.

My guess is Yoda gave them their own vision. They may not be Jedi but they are Force-sensitive.

Yoda's seemed to have bombarded them with a form of "Force blinding", an older EU Force power seen in the Jedi Knight games from the late 90's.
