I thought this episode was pretty good, with an attempt to do something a bit different by showing combat in a nebula rather than open space. If the Rebels had the Genesis torpedo from Wrath of Khan, they could have created a new home base. [face_laugh]

Nice to see some the focus on Y-wings for a change - were these meant to be some of the fighters which were recovered from the Empire at the start of the season?

I also felt this episode was indirectly linked to Rogue One - Mon Mothma's rallying speech was similar to Jyn's and seeing the Rebel cells unifying into a fleet for the first time felt like it was paving the way for the movie.

To be fair, the three TIEs fulfilled their purpose in forcing the Ghost out towards the Star Destroyers.

I thought this was a surprisingly epic episode; here's my recap!

The episode was fine, kinda simple but I guess that the main purpose was delivered in what, two-three minutes? So they needed the battle and chit chat between the Golden Squadron and Rebels to fill time.

I was wondering why Ezra has such a hard time with his shooting, does he not use the force for it? And why do they used the ion torpedo until the end? They should have fire that against the TIE from the start to destroyed.

Anyway, the designs were great, the scene were the SD are getting roasted is amazing.

It was an ok episode. I would have liked more stress in the tone in Ezra's dialogue with the others while getting blasted by the Star Destroyers. It came out to casual, like another day in the office.

A ruined CIS ship was a nice touch at the beginning. Besides giving us ruins of the Galactic Civil War, the ST should also eventually portray a ruined Republic or CIS vessel.

Good episode but to be honest the main story could fit in 5 minuteso_O
By the way, don't you guys think it's weird that Vader was chasing rebels, knowing that there are 2 Jedi and now all of a sudden he lost interest? It doesn't make much sense for me...

At the beginning of S2, the emperor basically told him not to worry about it. After S2 Vader might have assumed the explosion killed them. Kanan and Ezra barely got away from it.Thrawn is also in the picture now, and the Imperial military higher ups and Vader don't work well together.

Well the real reason behind it - Vader Cape cost to much. And Vader voice actor is little too old to be series regular. Yet I still have hopes for his return in season 4. But it will be nice if Thrawn summon Vader in this episode. He talk about best pilots after all .:vader:

Pretty sure Vader was just used to hunt down Ahsoka.

No Vader was summoned because they blew up Tarkins Star Destroyer. He also knows they stole the Sith Holocron and may know where other Jedi might be. They have also survived him twice including dropping a Walker on him and decimated Imperials by the dozen. To ignore all this is just terrible writing.

"Vader took care of the rebels' Jedi leadership", according to Tarkin, so either they don't take Ezra and Kanan seriously or they think they're dead.

the stronger focus on the politics in "Secret Cargo" actually made the episode quite interesting. I'd actually liked to have seen Mon Mothma giving that speech in the senate instead of the cheap holo version.

Unfortunately Ezra, (imo), is THE main problem with this show. What was the point of Ezra in this episode? To say awkward lines and fly a bomber because 'reasons"?

His character has lost all direction and interest. I just don't care about him anymore and conversely the whole "ezra force" story. To go back to "conflicted ezra" is pointless, he's nothing more than a side character. Sabine should have been the focus of this show and just let ezra leave the ghost and begin a new life flying for the rebellion.

Leaving aside the face that he didn't, take care of the leadership, the idea that he would leave the 2 Jedi who blew up Tarkins Star Destroyer/Dropped a Walker on him and outsmarted him with a Tractor Beam/Killed his Inquisitors/Stole the Sith Holocron and in his own words might know where the remaining Jedi might be found, is not just simply bad writing but insulting to the viewer.

    1. It was 6 months maybe he killed some other jedi ? Any clarifications ?
    2. This bugged me as well. Kanan and his brat openly use their lightsabers , attack imperial objects, infiltrating everything and still no Vader or even Inquisitors to stop them.
Just read season 4 confirmation - Despite the best efforts of the Grand Inquisitor, Darth Vader, and Grand Admiral Thrawn, the Ghost crew will be back.

Yeah, Ezra has really gone downhill this season. For someone who grew up with no parents and had to learn to survive, he is really immature.

He's still a teenager. So immaturity comes with that regardless of how he grew up. He didn't automatically become an adult after his parents were taken by the Empire and he was on his own.

I really enjoyed this episode, and Mon Mothma stole the show. I'm glade we're getting more politics and a deeper explanation of why the Alliance was created and the reason these rebels are fighting. Its great for viewers of all ages, especially younger ones, to see more than mere space adventures but a concise rationale for rebellion.

    - The animation in this episode was fantastic, I loved everything about the nebula, the fight with Vult Skerris and once again kudos to Kevin Kiner and his incredible score.
    - No major villain died in this episode. This has to be an achievement depending on what happens the season finale.
    - It was refreshing to see Hera talking to another female character other than Sabine for a change. And she taught Ezra to fly off-screen, would love to see this in the Rebels comic one day.
    - Background OT characters gets the spotlight and I was glad Ezra didn't take the lead but Gold Leader did, I was scared for a moment here but glad it was unfounded.
    - I guess it was Thrawn's prototype we see in "An Inside Man", always great to see new ships I suppose. Speaking of Thrawn, now he's looking for the rebel fleet again not just Atollon, please make up your mind.
    - I guess we just saw the formation of the Rebel Alliance, would have been great to the meeting but I guess it wasn't important for Ezra's story.
    - Kanan being absent, surely looking after the base with AP-5 I guess?
    - As usual we don't in Dantooine but maybe after whatever happens to Atollon in the season finale, they'll go there since ow we know how it looks like? Like they did with Ryloth?
    - The voice of Erskin Semaj was really annoying though, really my only criticism for this episode.
    - Great ending shot.

Overall another great episode from the Rebels team.
    9/10

No but he was supposed to have grown up quite a bit in the six months between Season Two and Three. It's sad to see that the maturity we saw in the Season Premiere didn't hold,

Fantastic episode! The visuals in this were stunning. The star destroyers getting hit by the nebula was a beautiful shot, and looked like live action to me. The ships burning and exploding looked great. And that ending shot of the fleet appearing was breathtaking and goosebump inducing. I wasn't expecting to see Mon Mothma leave the senate this episode and proclaim her fight against Palpatine, so that was cool.

I'm guessing that when Thrawn destroys Atollon the rebels will flee to Dantooine and we'll see them spending their time there in season 4.

One thing that bothers me with the large scale conflict in Rebels is that it justifies the destruction of Alderaan.

Instead of being an unjustified escalation of the conflict it's a Hiroshima/Nagasaki situation.

At first I thought I was just imagining things but I'm glad to read I wasn't the only one that found Ezra unlikeable this episode. Something was off about him and it's hard to put it into words. His lines, his role, it just felt cliché and uninspired. Worse, I actually felt a bit annoyed. I understand he's a teenager but even then he can be written in an entertaining way. Personally I liked his portrayal in "Through Imperial Eyes."

I agree that his character has lost direction but it doesn't mean he can't go back on track again. Ezra has enough potential in itself but it needs to be drawn out. Maybe some kind of external event that will have such an effect on Ezra that it will force him into a new direction. I remember how excited I was with the first season 3 trailer last year. Ezra getting closer to the dark side, a brewing inner conflict, and the presence of Maul who also could have an impact on him, but they resolved it in one or two episodes and never picked it up again. Such a waste of potential. They need something pretty drastic now to restart his development. It wouldn't be impossible IMO, but it has to be done right.

Personally I would like to see him become more independent, and while still having a connection with the rebellion he would be more inclined to do things on his own. To find his own way and develop his own code or morals. He's kind of stuck with the rebels as it is now, and it's limiting his development.

This was an awesome episode and even better than last weeks' which I thought was very good too. Yep, we definitely needed a season 4 for Rebels

When did Ezra become this great pilot? Random knock on the episode but I didn't get that part why he's the one giving Gold Leader instructions. Overall pretty good episode though. The visuals when the Star Destroyers were getting taken out by the nebula looked real good.
